III : Demon Lord

"Where am I?"

Surrounded with the bodies of fallen warriors, Alice found herself kneeling down before a man's motionless body. His chest had been ripped apart revealing his glowing, red palpitating heart. The man's eyes were opened as if he still held some form of consciousness, struggling to lift his right arm. He took about a minute just to point his palm towards the sky.

"Deus Restoration."

The man's heart shot up into the sky, gathering a tremendous amount of magical energy before exploding, tainting the sky red with blood. That was the day, the world rained blood, a demon's blood.

"What...what's going on..."

----------------------------------------

Waking up from her dream, Alice flung her body forward only to crash against the black walls of her pocket dimension.

Ouch...I guess I can still feel physical pain at a mortal's threshold.

Erasing the dimension she had created with a snap of her fingers, there she was sitting at the bus stop once again.

"It's time to go to school. That lady, she wanted to bring me to the Principal. I will avenge you old lady, just you wait Alistar."

----------------------------------------

Upon arriving at the academy, Alice noticed a sudden increase in security. Magic Squadron members were scattered across the school compound, the students entering the classrooms were to be scanned and individually checked by Squadron Officers who were posted at the gate.

Damn! They caught onto me this soon? It's only been one night... Really gotta give it to those hardworking blue collar freaks... I have to...

"Alice! Morning!"

"Rey? Morning..."

Shit... I have to leave quickly...

"Why aren't you in your uniform though? What kind of outfit is that... Look I'm not going to pry into your personal life, but I never expected you..."

"Shut up!"

Covering Rey's mouth, Alice pinned him to the wall, casting a quick knock out spell as she gently placed him onto the ground.

"I forgot I'm still wearing this revealing attire...nevermind that, I've got a demon to slay."

Casting the spell to turn invisible, Alice then levitated into the air, making her way to the Dean's office undetected.

----------------------------------------

"Sir Alistar, may I ask that you verify these images. Do you recognise either of these two women?"

The senior detective spread the images across Alistar's table, allowing him to inspect them clearly.

"That girl! Yes, that's her. Alice Gaelburg, daughter of this woman right here, Arya Gaelburg."

"Daughter? When we ran checks on the database, Arya Gaelburg did not in fact have any offspring. Are you positive these two are related?"

Alistar slumped back into his chair, putting on a face of shock and horror.

"Detective... What I am about to tell you may seem insane but this is all the truth. That girl, Alice, has immense traces of High Demon magic. When I found out, she threatened me and said that she would murder the students, staff and myself if I were to rat her out to the Angels. For the sake of my students and precious staff, I had to endure this frustration alone. Now that I've told you all this, she will be coming for me and the school. Please, protect us."

Nodding his head, the detective began running every information Alistar had just given him before replying.

"Traces of knife wounds were found all over Arya's body, though the killer seemed to have been burnt to ashes. So this Alice girl was the one that is truly capable of erasing someone just like that?"

"Detective. You have no idea..."

"Exactly what idea does he not have?"

"You..."

Kicking the door down, Alice calmly approached the two men, trying her best to stay composed as she locked eyes with her mother's killer.

"Stop! By the Order of the Magic Association, you are hereby arrested for potential murder. Put your hands in the air right now!"

Whipping out a silver, metallic pistol. The detective aimed it at Alice, ready to pull the trigger as soon as he sensed aggression.

"Magic Eyes!"

The detective's eyes glowed sapphire blue, the spell allowed him to peek into his target's mental state and emotion.

Anger. Grief. Loss. It seems like there might be more to this case.

Alice complied, raising both her hands in the air but her eyes were deadlocked onto Alistar, who was let out a smirk as he got off his seat.

"Great work Detective. Morgana, she's all yours."

From Alice's own shadow cast on the floor, Morgana emerged with a dagger in her hand, launching a fast attack onto Alice who barely managed to evade before disappearing into the shadows once again.

"Detective!"

Dashing at full speed towards the detective, Alice managed to push him against a corner, only to feel cold metal digging into her right arm.

"How wonderful, a demon saving a human. You really are something else, aren't you little Alice."

Ready to leap towards Alistar to eliminate him, Alistar raised his finger up, waving it at her.

"That won't work. You see, if you come at me, there is no guarantee you can kill me. But trust me, once you do choose to attack me, the detective will die."

"What makes you think I value this human's life more than ending yours?"

Despite the rebuttal, Alice remained firmly rooted to the corner with the detective behind her back.

"I get the full picture now. Knifes. Say girl, was the death of your mother caused by this same assassin? If that's the case, then case closed."

"I don't know why they are after me, but she murdered the old lady. For that, she will atone for her sins with her life!"

Alice's hair transformed crimson red once more as she raised her hand into the air.

"I've had enough of this nonsense. A little demon like you should know your place in this world. Dimension Override."

All time had stopped, all except for Alice's who continued walking towards Alistar sending vacuums of air waves towards his legs before reaching down into her own shadow.

"There you are. I've fought against heaven's own elite assassin squadron. Who did you actually think you are? I really hate having this aching feeling of regret and guilt in my heart. I should have killed you properly back in the house, this kill, I will enjoy with every fibre in my body."

Easily grabbing hold of Morgana's arm within the shadow, she dug her fingers into Morgana's flesh, easily ripping her arm off before ending her spell.

"My...legs..."

Alistar fell onto the floor which had now been covered with his own personal blood bath. Meanwhile Morgana exited Alice's shadow, wincing in pain as she crawled towards the dying Alistar.

"Heal me Alistar. One of us has to die, heal me so I can live. Heal me!"

"Shut up you failure of an assassin, give me your life!"

Grabbing onto Morgana's neck, Alistar easily snapped it before sinking his teeth into her chest. In a desperate attempt to live, he ripped pieces of flesh off of Morgana's body, snapping open her ribcage, devouring her raw beating heart.

"What the fuck..."

The detective got off the ground, aiming his pistol at the crazed Alistar who was hysterically feasting on the remains of Morgana.

"That is a demon's true colours. Principal Alistar of the Sora Magic Academy, is in fact a demon. To live, demons can feast and consume on mortals, allowing them to absorb their life essence, prolonging their own lives. Looks like the fool took my fun away... Tsk, who said you're worthless ass could take my kill!"

Opening up a portal in the air, Alice pulled out a dark, ebony blade with ruby coloured edges.

"The Sword of Death. Kratos."

In one swift motion, she plunged the blade straight through Alistar's skull, killing him in an instant as the sword began activating its powers, devouring the lesser demon into itself.

"Alice, I would thank you so saving me but right now I need you to drop that weapon. I have confirmed you are in fact a High Demon, permission has been granted for me to execute you immediately. I wish to give you a chance, so please, drop your weapon and come with me."

Ignoring the detective's request, Alice made her way to exit letting go of her blade as it finished consuming Alistar before vanishing into the air.

"Detective. I am not sure if our paths shall cross again, however, you shall be the first mortal in this era to hear me out. I, Alice Gaelburg, am the reincarnation of the Demon Lord himself. You and that pathetic object stand no chance against me even at 1% of my powers. Worry not, I have no interest in murdering and killing mortals. Do not stand in my way ever again detective, or I cannot promise you your own safety."

With that, Alice left the room, casting her invisibility spell for one final time to escape the academy. She had used too much mana once again, burning all her resources on high-end Eternal magic.

Did I just let her go, scot-free... This feeling, demon lord, this is fear isn't it... Fear... Interesting. Alice Gaelburg. I certainly do hope our paths cross again.

----------------------------------------

"I belive you sensed it too, Great Demon Lord Exslav?"

A lady wielding a long, japanese katana stood on the roof of the Academy. Behind her stood a hooded man, clenching his fist with a grin on his face.

"Eternal Magic. So much power, so much knowledge, yet confined to a mortal's body. Well, I hate to admit it myself, if not for this handicap, not even I would dare dream of facing him. The Original Demon Lord, Atallia Morningstar."
