Chapter 10: Final Stage – One Sided Beatdown

"—DAMN IT!"

Staring at the rapidly growing ball of divine power aimed at me, I let out a frustrated curse.

Why did he even bother to answer all of my questions, if he was going to kill me anyway? Why didn't he just try to kill me on sight from the beginning?

I could ponder upon these questions all day long, but there was no meaning in doing so right now.

*Whoosh–!*

Soon, the blinding lump of divine power gathered in front of the magical Golem's palm pulsated ominously, before unleashing all of its energy in my direction in a devastating attack.

Luckily, before encountering this imprisoned Heavenly King, I had used my accumulated free attribute points to significantly boost my strength and agility stats.

"Urgh!"

And it was precisely because of this boost, that I could now at least attempt to evade the sudden attack that he launched at me.

*BANG–!*

Rolling out of the way in a pathetic manner, I saw the rocky ground I was standing on a moment ago rapidly turn into a small pit of melted lava.

"For the love of..."

The firepower of that beam attack was crazy!

If that shot even grazed my body a little, it simply wouldn't matter how much durability I had. Regardless of my defenses, I would immediately turn into burnt ashes!

'No, get a proper hold on yourself! How do I get myself out of this sticky mess?'

No matter what, I couldn't allow my body to be hit by those beams of divine energy!

'...can't get hit, my ass! I can't even fight that thing without getting hit!'

Under any other circumstances, I would have tried to avoid fighting such a monstrous Golem in the first place.

But now, there was no way for me to escape this dungeon without defeating this Golem.

I could try to run away, but there was no guarantee that the Golem in front of me wouldn't chase after me.

*Whoosh–!*

My mind churned at rapid speeds, while the Golem once again took aim at me – rapidly gathering divine power on his palm in order to fire another shot at me.

"Heavenly King Dular, I order you to stop! STOP!!"

{....please, My Lord. Please kill me....}

"You mother-lover…!!"

Looking at the bright blob of holy power pulsating once again, a bitter curse left my mouth.

It seemed like the Heavenly King trapped in the Golem's body was misunderstanding the reason why I was not attacking.

'Believe me, I really do want to kill you...'

It wasn't that I didn't 'want' to kill him… I literally didn't have the means to deal any kind of significant damage to his stone body!

'If I could, I would have annihilated you the moment you came out!'

Still, complaining about such things was pretty much useless.

I still had half a mind to convince this guy that I was weak as hell right now, and not the formidable Demon King he thought I was.

However, the risk of doing so was just too great!

Who knew what kind of surveillance those fanatic followers of the Goddess had set up in this place?

If they somehow got wind that the Demon King had escaped his seal, and he was weak as hell to boot....

...I really didn't want to imagine what they would try to do to me, especially after seeing what those maniacs did to that poor Heavenly King, even after he got killed by the Heroes!

"F*ck! Can't you stay still for a moment? Why are you getting hyper after babbling for so long!?"

Seeing that the lump of holy power was on the verge of erupting, I clenched my teeth in frustration.

'You damned piece of stone, why aren't you giving your Lord some time to think?!'

Gazing at the pale corpse of the Berserk Troll in the distance, I swiftly made up my mind about how to fight this battle, and barely leaped out of the way...

*BANG–!*

....adding another crater filled with boiling lava in the rocky dungeon ground.

"Argh!!"

But no matter how fast I might be, I still couldn't avoid the small droplets of molten lava scattered everywhere by these blasts.

*BANG–!*

"Mmph–!"

Black burn marks slowly started to appear on my previously milky-white skin.

I dodged, dodged, and then dodged some more.

Every time I evaded certain death, more and more burn injuries popped up on my exposed body.

*BANG–!*

"Ugh...!!"

But that much was fine. I was already behind the monster's corpse.

"...huff...huff..."

I could feel my heart beating faster than ever, even as I panted heavily from the burning pain all over my body.

*BANG–!*

"Bloody hell!"

Another beam of Sun's holy energy blasted through the huge corpse of the Berserk Troll.

...*bam*...*bam*...*bam–!*

*Whoosh–!*

I could hear the Golem slowly approaching me, along with that signature sound of holy energy rapidly gathering on his palm.

'He won't simply run out of holy energy like this now, will he...?'

It would have been great if that happened, but I couldn't just drain my stamina as well as my health by running around and slowly getting roasted to death.

As the stone Golem got closer and closer, hiding behind the remnant corpse of the Troll monster, I calmed my breath for the next sequence of actions.

...*Bam*...*BAM–!*

'Now!'

Tightly clutching the dead monster's giant human-sized wooden club with both of my hands, I swiftly jumped out from behind the leftover monster corpse, swinging it at the Golem's arm that was getting ready to shoot the next beam.

*Whoosh*

But the soul trapped inside the Golem proved that it was not a simple brainless machine, trying to swat away the wooden club with his other, idle arm.

'No, you don't!'

Knowing that I would only get a single chance at this, I forcefully changed the trajectory of the wooden club mid-swing, missing the massive palm of the stone Golem by only a few millimeters.

"AAAARRGHH!!!"

I felt my muscles being torn apart in real-time, but I didn't let the pain faze me at this crucial point. This time, I was targeting the legs of the Golem, hoping to either crack them, or just simply topple its massive body into the ground.

After all, bigger opponents are always better when they are sprawled on the ground, instead of towering over you!

*BOOM–!*

The club accurately struck the lower leg of the stone Golem, making it skid back by only a foot or two.

'Shit!'

The golem was far from being toppled. I immediately realized that I had failed in my gamble...

And the counterattack from the Golem was already on its way.

*BAM–!*

"—Gaahk!"

The Golem's palm, brightly glowing with divine power, dug into my torso – instantly shattering quite a few ribs, and sending me flying into the sturdy walls of the dungeon tunnels.

*BOOM–!*

"Urgh...!"

...making me once again realize why I didn't want to fight it in the first place.
