Darkness, complete darkness.
There weren't any words better to describe it other than complete darkness. That was the world he was thrown to. A place where hope was merely nothing but an imagination.
And at that kind of place where hope is lost. Asta never lost the idea of returning home. It may be through death or other ways, but no matter what, Asta never gave up.
And because of that, here he was right now. At the place he dreamed of, for so many years…
“I’m home, Mom.” Asta smiled genuinely after a millions of years…
His mom stared at him completely stunned. She wanted to say a lot of things but somehow, things just won't come out of her mouth… Instead, action does its thing.
The pretty middle aged lady ran up to him and embraced him. She hugged him so tight, to the point Asta could barely catch his breath. But even so, he endured, he hugged her back and cried once more.
"I'm finally home, Mom… I'm finally home…."
His mom smiled at him and hugged him even tighter.
"Welcome home, son.."
Tears started flooding upon her pale beautiful face. She hugged him so tight, seemingly never wanting to let go . As if she thought she was in a dream, she slapped her face to wake her up but thank goodness, it was all real. Everything was real… Too real to be considered a nonsensical dream.
“...Where have you been my baby boy… Your mother missed you so much. I was worried to death that you may never return ever again.”
“I’m sorry Mom… I’m sorry…”
Asta cried everything out as he hugged her even tighter… It was totally different to the guy he was when previously was the demon king. It’s the real him now. The plain guy who once was with his family, Asta Muero.
His mom figured it must be something her son can’t tell him. So he didn’t ask about it any further. The mother and son hugged each other for a long time. Until that moment was ruined by someone else…
“MOM..??”
It was none other than Asta’s younger sister. Although she grew up, by a whole lot, there’s no way he would forget her face. However… Somehow, instead of happy, her face was filled with filth and disgust? For both of her mother and brother?

“MOM??? WHO IS THAT GUY!?!?! ARE YOU HAVING AN AFFAIR!?!?”
Asta and his Mom removed their embrace from each and they both stared at her with dumb look. Even if let's say, a long time had passed, there's just no way she wouldn’t remember the face of her brother, right..?
If so, then what the hell is this right now. What kind of dumb sh*t crossed her mind to even think of such a thing. Asta glared at her for ruining such a precious moment for him, however, his mother just whispered to him to calm down before she did the explaining now.
“Ailah… Your brother’s finally back. Your big brother has returned..”
Ailah seemed to be surprised at first until she suddenly remembered something before shifting her attention over Asta. Ailah pointed at him with blazing glares upon her eyes.
“You mean the piece of sh*t brother of mine who left for 5 years without telling us where he was and now suddenly returning and expecting a warm welcome from us??”
“Yes… It’s him… Your one and only brother.”
“Is that so.” Ailah turned her back coldly.
“I’m going back to my room Mom.”
Ailah coldly left and went upstairs without saying anything. Asta watched her disappear before turning his attention over his mother.
“Forgive him son… I’m sure she just really can’t accept the fact that you have returned after a long time without contact. We never stopped looking for you, but at some point we gave up, we thought you were dead… Where have you been..? Why have you never contacted us??”
Asta hesitated at first but soon enough answered her questions.
“Been well Mom… I’m sorry I couldn’t contact you for the past few years. Things have been rough.”
Of course, Asta chose to hide everything from them. There’s no way they would believe that he’s been teleported into another world, became a demon king, lived for centuries and witnessed the rise of civilizations. If he did, he’s pretty sure they’ll find him crazy and the worst part is, they might even turn him over to the asylum. There's no way he’ll let such a thing even happen. No way in hell.
“It must have been tough son… If you can’t tell me the whole story then it must have been a really tough one… I’m sorry we weren’t there for you to support you or anything. I’m sorry honey…”
Asta steeled himself and finally wiped away the tears from his eyes and smiled at his mother. He thought she was going to hate him too like his younger sibling did but things worked out pretty well instead. It was, kind of, making him so happy…
“Thank you Mom! I love you so much!”
“I love you too sweetheart…”
And for the last time, she embraced him for a long cuddle before scanning his outfit. Right now, Asta looks like he came out of the woods after a decade. He was wearing some kind of shady outfit accompanied with his nasty smell as if he lives in the streets. He could feel the death stare coming from his mom as if wondering why he looks like some kind of beggar.
Mom smiled at him for one last time before asking him to go with her.
“Honeyyy, come with me for a second, I’ll show you your room!”
Mom started showing him around, and as he noticed, almost nothing had changed as he remembered them. There was new furniture and new rooms, but it was still the same as he remembered them.
"Here's your new room Honeyy!"
Mom opened the door to his new room and smiled at him.
"It was something your Dad and I were preparing for you in case you came back a few years ago! It may be small and all but, we'll rebuild it later so go change yourself inside while I'll call your Dad and tell him to go home."
"Thank you Mom."
"Don't forget to bath too later Honeyy, seriously, you do need a bath. Okayyy, suit yourself, I gotta go and cook food for you now so stay still and be in your room okayy?"
Mom immediately left in excitement after that, and soon enough, Asta was left alone in the room. Somehow, everything happened so fast. He didn't know things would turn out this way. He feels so drained out.
Asta let his body fall over his new bed and stared at the ceiling, seemingly lost in thoughts.
"It's only been 5 Years, huh?"
His Million years of suffering wasn't in vain. He wasn't expecting them to be still the same once he came back, after all, he spent so much time in that world, so he thought probably a thousand years had passed by now in his original world. But he was so thankful everything was still the same. Nothing has changed.
And now he can finally truly say it.
"I'm finally home."
