Seeing her leave, Kurono turned to Shirou, "Do we ask her about the region?"
"No, that will be too suspicious. Just ask her about the monsters and magical plants in the region. Don't let down your guard too much. It is her duty to act friendly and that can help her put people at ease. We are in an unknown world without any basic knowledge, so it is best to avoid such talks. Do not mention the enemies or their plans." Shirou explained so that his companion wouldn't get them in trouble. It was good that he was loosening up and putting down the dark events but he shouldn't forget that this world was not as safe as the modern world.
Hearing those words, Kurono remembered that he was getting too comfortable in this peaceful atmosphere. The sudden change from the dangerous to such a carefree situation made him want to go back to the peaceful life of the past.
"Sorry, I will keep it in mind." Kurono muttered as he looked down. He understood that life could never go back to the way it used to be.
He was a different person now. He was hardly human anymore. His hands were filled with the blood of his people.
He had killed. His thought process had changed to desire death and destruction, compared to the peaceful mindset of old.
'I can't let this blind me to the situation. I need to burn them down. I need to see if big sis Raikou is here. I need to get back home but before that they need to die. I can't allow this to happen to my family.' Kurono reminded himself of the stakes and his promises.
Shirou didn't like doing this but it would be too cruel to Kurono, to allow him to delude himself.
"Just be careful about your words. No need to act harshly."
Kurono nodded and walked towards Lily to wait for Nyarko to come back.

----------------------------------------
"Well then, newbie adventurers, I'll be teaching you the fundamentals about the guild and adventurers!"Nyarko exclaimed in a cheerful tone. It seems she was enjoying the situation and lacked the seriousness that most people in the industry possessed.
"Ah, Nyarko will be giving the lecture?" Shirou thought they might see another individual but it seems they really had no hands to spare. From his first impression, it was easy to tell that the girl was a warrior type.
She was working with adventurers so it wasn't a safe job as many of them could get violent. She didn't have any magic but Beastman were naturally very strong so her combat prowess was unknown.
Her attitude was childish and excitable so she was the type to enjoy eventful situations. It was unknown why she would take a desk job.
Regardless of her personality, her duty would make her inform the higher ups about anything interesting. They were most likely going to meet the guild head soon.
"Hehe, actually this is my first time doing this."
"Is Nyarko a new employee in the guild?" Kurono asked in a friendly tone but now he kept in mind not to slip.
"That's right! Though it hasn't been even a full year since I started working, I am already the poster girl of the Irz Village adventurer guild!"
"Poster girl? Is that your self-proclaimed class?"
"I am the Poster girl in reality as well!! Kurono really is rude!?"
"Sorry, I got it. Nyarko is the guild's poster cat-girl."
"As long as you understand, well, enough with the greetings, let's start the lecture."
We'll be counting on you! – is what Kurono, Shirou and Lily said but Lily was still making an expression that she doesn't understand what's going to start.
"Umm, then firstly….. let's start with the rules & important points used by the guild!"
"Ah, will you be taking notes?"
"Thanks, that'll help." Kurono muttered as Shirou let him take the lead since he could write and easily understand the language.
Nyarko gave a blank paper and pen to Kurono before starting.
'Considering their level civilization, I thought they might use parchments but this is a clean sheet almost comparable with those in modern Japan.
I wonder if they have established the technology to process pulp or are they using some mysterious magic for this as well.'
"Then first of all, regarding the request made to adventurers. Kurono knows that the guild is an organisation to provide various requests to the adventurers?"
"Yeah, I heard that from the village head."
"Then this'll be fast. The guild accepts requests from big towns and villages as well as single individuals. The details and rewards of the quest introduced by the guild are usually trusted and correct. In case investigation of the quest details is insufficient or impossible, the same is written on the quest form as well. Then, it is up to the adventurer to decide whether he takes the quest or not. Again, there are times in case of emergencies where the guild will order compulsory quests to the adventurers."
"What kind of compulsory quests?"
"The most common example would be rescue missions in case of calamities and times when a dragon or a similar level of disaster appears. That's why they are also called emergency quests. Both are very rare cases so you don't have to worry that much. By the way, in case you refuse an emergency quest then you'll have to pay a cancellation charge as well. If you don't pay it, then in worst case, you might be removed from the guild so please be careful."
"What'll happen if you are removed from a guild?"
"Of course you will be unable to use the guild facilities. Also, if you take requests directly without the mediation of the guild then the chances of discrepancies in the quest details and reward amount will become much higher. Just by not being able to use the guild, you'll become unable to work as an adventurer, so please abide by the rules."
"I see. Is there any other way that might lead to removal from guild?"
"First, regarding the rewards. The guild takes 10% of the reward money from the client as commission. This amount is already deducted from the amount shown on the request form. The guild takes full responsibility for the requests introduced by them, therefore in case the client suddenly went missing or died and trouble regarding the payment of reward appears, in no case will the adventurer be left unrewarded so you can be relived. But, in case of failing the quest, or becoming unable to continue it, a cancellation charge as per the situation or the money required to transfer the quest to another adventurer will be taken from you so please understand."
"As long as the adventurer completes the quest, reward is certain but in case of failure, a charge to be paid may appear so don't complain at that time, right?"
"Exactly, it is quite a basic thing but still in every guild there is adventurer who is stuck with a claim. Kurono looks intelligent so there isn't worry of that though."
"Complimenting me won't get you anything."
"Not at all, there are very few who understand everything up till now. Unable to even do simple plus minus, there are over-emotional people as well after all. But I think that Kurono is the type that can properly use his head."
This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.
"Well, I'll at least not get stuck with a claim from the guild as long as there is a chance of getting removed and penalized."
'I was thought as someone educated just by my manners, in this world a common Japanese man should be considered as an over-educated person probably.
It's not that I'm amazing but it's the surrounding education standards that are poor. Well it can't be helped since there is no system to make people go to school. But Assyria gave the impression of being a modern type city, so the human side might be very advanced in comparison to Pandora.' Kurono thought as he took in her words. It painted a very bad picture for the people of this continent. He didn't know if they even had fighters to combat the Apostles who seemed to be some legendary pokemon level fighters.
Shirou also had similar thoughts and wanted to go check the books in the corner once they were done with the introduction.
The books should answer some basic questions about Pandora and help him plan out the next steps.
"Also, regarding the quests, I'll explain about their ranks."
"Difficult or easy quest, or something like that?"
"Yes, your own adventurer rank as well as quest rank and also monster rank, all are compared to choose the most optimal quest. Even the guild doesn't want to raise the failure percentage of quests due to some reckless adventurer taking on too difficult quests, so an adventurer cannot take on quests above his own rank."
"How are ranks divided?"
"All ranks are divided into ranks 1-10; rank 1 being lowest and 10 the highest. Quest rank is decided as per the monster to be defeated or the danger of the dungeon. Adventurer rank starts at 1 and after the accomplishments and achievements are recognized, the rank will be raised. In special cases where knights or soldiers who have accomplishments in wars decide to become adventurers, they can take an examination to start directly from rank 3. Well, this can't be done in the Irz village though."
"Then that means that I'll start at rank 1."
10 grades is a pretty simple method for differentiating. There would quite a lot of differences even inside the same rank. So, they are also divided into first half and second half it seems.
Poorly classifying the numerous quests will troublesome after all, it can't be helped though. Guessing the difficulty of the quest from the details given will also depend on the experience of the adventurer.
"That's all regarding quests. Also, please be careful to not get civilians injured, don't trespass private properties and avoid causing damage to their items and things. Just because you are on a quest doesn't mean that guild will take responsibility for your criminal actions. Also, the guild will not be concerned with disputes with other adventurer parties. You are responsible for your own actions"
"I see, basically act within common sense, right?"
"Yes, the guild doesn't restrict an adventurer's actions; the adventurer can complete the quest however he wants."
"Got it. Then I'll like to see the rank 1 quest I can take right away."
"Feel free and choose! Is what I'd like to say but at this time there aren't many quest that can be taken though."
Nyarko put a bunch of requests forms on the table.

"Hmm, there are some words that I can't understand...…"Kurono muttered as he was unable to understand the names of many monsters and places as they were not part of the knowledge given to him.
Turning the 10 page documents Kurono read the various quests available.
"Even if you can't understand well, most of the rank 1 quest here can be completed without much trouble, there is barely any fighting involved after all." Nyarko guessed that the duo were some nobles on an adventure away from their Kingdom.
It wasn't rare to come across children of nobles that wanted to live without having their hands held. She had heard such stories and it felt exciting to see it in person.
Maybe they could even give her interesting gifts.
"Do the books there have data on the monsters and plants in the area?" Kurono asked as he looked up from the document.
"Yes, you can find data on all the monsters that has been encountered by the guild. We recommend going through it before going into wild. It covers vital information that could help you survive. I believe both of you are smart enough to take the advise seriously, unlike some people." Nyarko muttered as she gave a glance towards the adventure group.
"Hey, I can hear you." The leader of the group called out in an embarrassed tone but it didn't seem like he was going to get violent.
Shirou looked at the Catman, also known as War cats.
"I know Nino, are you gonna hit me?" Nyarko muttered in a smug tone as she looked at the man.
"Nyarko, I think you are being too rude." Kurono decided to intervene before she started a battle.
"No need to worry, Kurono. Nino will never get violent inside the guild as he has no guts for it." Nyarko chuckled and seems to be edging the man on.
Nino glared at them and sat back down.
'He likes her.' Shirou and Kurono thought seeing that reaction.
"Well, moving on from the pussy. Other than quests, we also reward for collecting raw materials and killing monsters as a freelance as well so please make use of that too. The details about it are put up on the bulletin board there. The sale price of materials and rewards on subjugating monsters changes with season so please keep on checking regularly. Ah, by the way, the current recommendation is goblin subjugation! It seems a big group has settled near here so the price is quite high right now. Soon an extermination quest might appear as well."
"Are you talking about the ones living in the cave west of Fairy Garden?"
"You are well aware; did you hear it from Lily-san? But even if you are with Lily-san please be careful, if you get to close them they'll attack in large numbers. In case of goblin extermination, it is advised to split them in small groups and attack them!"
"I don't want to brag but, goblins are too weak for any of us. Is there a way for us to skip ranks?"
Nyarko looked at Lily who had fallen asleep from the boring talk and at the two men. Finding a cave filled with goblins too weak, meant that they were at least rank 3.
"There is no way for you to skip ranks, unless there is proof of your experience in the field. Adventurers are not just about strength, it is necessary to have experience in the field to avoid many issues. In the old days it had been allowed and some adventurers had ended up dying or destroying villages because of their inexperience." Nyarko was impressed with their prowess at such a young age but rules were rules.
She wasn't going to break them even if they gave her some luxury items from the royal palace.
"Are the people of the village aware of Lily's strength? From her words, the village head was also aware that Lily had been constantly exterminating monsters."
"To protect the fountain of light it is said that she has been fighting the monsters in Fairy Garden for a long time now. It's a quite famous story as many have seen the pillars of light. But, whenever I see her like that I just can't seem to believe it..."Nyarko muttered as she looked at the cute child like figure, who was even cuter than her.
"What rank would you put her, based on her power?"
"Rank 5, She has even killed a Wyvern."
"Wow!" Kurono was impressed as he had also fought a wyvern and almost died killing it.
"Yeah, she is the best. So, do you want to take a task?"
"We will just exterminate the goblins."
"You guys are really nice. Taking them out before a quest is given, such good people unlike a certain someone."
"Come on Nyarko, you know this our livelihood. If we did things for charity then we won't have money to maintain our equipment, pay for our food and items." The Lamia of the group called Aten called out in a calm tone while the Lizardman Claydor placed his hand on Nino to control him.
They knew she was just teasing Nino but some things were just not appropriate.
"Ah, sorry Aten, I was just joking. I know you guys are always busy with taking care of the village."
"We know but it will ruin our reputation among newcomers, so please take care of your words." Aten brushed her long red hair and gave her smile before going back to her book.
She was the mage of the group. She was a beautiful woman with above average bust. The lower half was snake like and her eyes were like that of a snake.
Among the group, she was the brains that came up with the extermination plans. Being from a normal background and having no riches, Aten had barely reached 2 rings at the age of twenty.
Usually most Lamia were assassin types or lancers so it was uncommon to see a magician among them.
"Big sis, please forgive me. I won't make the mistake again." Nyarko said in a pitiful tone.
"Well then excuse us. We will be hitting the books." Kurono muttered as he picked up Lily and followed Shirou.
"Enjoy your time at the Guild and if you need any help please ask. Nino's group is trust worthy and dependable so you can also rely on them."
"Thank you for the advice and service." Shirou and Kurono muttered as they went to the corner where they went through the books and picked up one about monsters and plants.
