Chapter 2- Encounter By Death

-Cassandra-

"ok then, your hired!" said Mrs. Chang, the owner of the cafe.

"thank you so much ma'am!" I said smiling from ear to ear. I thought I was late but it turns out, my meeting with her was 9:00 AM.

"you could start now dear" she winked and went of to the counter.

"Right! Time for work" I said and put on the uniform that Mrs. Chang gave to me and tied my hair to a knot.

I went on to the kitchen and saw a  girl with a red curly hair mixing a bowl of appears to be a cake mixture.

"Hi" I said shyly and the girls head went on to my direction.  Her bright blue eyes gazing on me felt.... Different.

"Oh hi there!" she said in a high pitched voice that could really destroy your hearing but the funny thing is,  It doesn't

"H-hi I'm new here" I said and smiled at her.

"Yes,  yes.  Mrs.  Chang said that I'll have a new partner in the kitchen.  Come! I'm going to bake a black forest cake and I need help" she said and gave me a sign to go to her side.

"Ok then" I said and immediately went on to her side.

"So you will do the Icing and toppings While I, will do the base" she instructed.

"Oh! I forgot to introduce myself" she said and look into me with an apologizing face, her brown eyes glittering while speaking.

She's very beautiful, No doubt. She extended her right hand and smiled at me.

"I'm Jeromaih Gonzales, nice to meet you!" She giddily said, I took her hand and introduced myself.

"Cassandra Carter but you can call me Cassie for short" I smiled and we shake hands.

"Well Cassie, you can call me jero for short too" she replied.

"Ok then jero? Shall we start?" I ask.

"Sure! We still have to bake two more cakes" she said and we proceed in baking.

Later that day, I went on to a nearby bookstore to buy me a book to read. I'm quite the bookworm and It is my way of relaxing while listening to rock songs. As I enter the bookstore I immediately look for the thriller section, I'm done reading my last book and now I need to buy a new one. Funny thing is the only Genre of stories that I read are mystery and thriller, I find it not boring to read because I think romantic novels are to cliché...not that I hate it, its just that I'm not into those kind of things.

I think I'm weird, do I?

I scan the books and my eye went down to a certain book that triggered my nightmares. I reached for the book and my hands are shaking while holding it.

Dark blue eyes looking back at me like it was real.

"Gotcha!"

"Huh!" I dropped the book and stood up straight, I look from right to left but no one is there.

"W-what was that?"I swear, I heard someone whispered behind me.

I bend over to get the book. I think I'll buy this one.

"Stupid nightmares" I hissed. Without wasting a second I went on to the counter and paid for my book.

The night is darker than usual,  stars are not that visible to the naked eye. The moon is full but like the stars it's not that visible either. I walked into the streets of crystal stream,  a small town that me and my grandma had lived since I was young. I personally liked the town but odd, everyone is so friendly but very mysterious and quite. It always reminded me of the PsP game I played called silent hill, It literally describes the town.  "Silent"

"Strange" I whispered,  something is off and I'm becoming edgy at the moment.

Why do I feel that something is wrong?  Like the darken night is telling me something bad had happened. I suddenly has the urge to run in our house and I did. The lamp post in each streets flickers and there are no people to be seen.

I suddenly felt uneasy like something is definitely wrong. I suddenly stop running and looked around, their is no single person walking in the streets but me. Fogs are clouding the streets and it scared me. A very familiar feeling that I can't seem to decipher.

"What the hell?" I gasp, the scenery is becoming way darker like it was creeping in the ground. I shivered as I look straight and come face to face with something..hiding in the shadows.

"Hello?" I ask hesitantly as I eyed the figure forming in the darkness. I looked up and I nearly screamed at the sight, Its all pitched black.

I started to sweat, cold sweat started running down my face.

"What's go-ing on?" I stuttered and look again in front of me and my eyes widened at the scene.

In front of me is a figure of a man clouded with darkness walking slowly into me, deep dark blue eyes staring at my green one's. The figure is a blur but I can still see the shape of its body. The hard muscles of its arms and legs, the brood shoulders that seemed to be well sculpted. But I can't see his face because it's shrouded with darkness.

It continued its paced..slow and dangerous. While I step backward holding tight to my book thinking it can be used as a weapon.

That's right..a book for a weapon. How original.

"Who are you!" I dared to shout at the figure in front of me.

I need to wake up if this is a dream or if not might as will try to fight until the end. There is no space to be weak right now, I have to be strong.

I prepared myself, secretly pinching my thighs hard only to see if this is a dream.

"Ouch" I hissed and blinked but it's still there.

Oh God, this is not a dream. This is...

Before It I could finish the sentence in my thought I was lifted into the ground Gasping go air as the figure shrouded in darkness strangles me. A tear fell on my face, fear started consuming me.

"H-ee-lp" I cried, trying to choke out the words.

"You. Are. Mine." The figure spoke in a dangerously deep baritone tune, almost a sound of a monster.

But it is a monster, My brain spoke.

Choking and grasping for air, I tried to break free by scratching the figure but...I can't touch it.

It's grasp stared to tighten and tighten more.

"Surrender yourself to me" I could not hear it anymore, everything is starting to turn into a blur.

"Soon, you will be mine" It's speaking yet I can't hear anything.

My vision started to drift, loosing my breath I cried harder and remembered nothing in my childhood life but only the times with my grandma.

"Gr--aan-ma" I choked, my vision fading and right there I ran out of breath.

And my hands fell lifeless beside me.
