3.14 Levels Of Achievement

Later that week, Violet was boredly flipping through her menus as she lay in bed. It was nice to be able to take things easier and to, finally, have some time to adjust to her new life. Theodore had finally shown up in her dungeon a few days ago, but he had been giving her space, so she spent most of her days relaxing around her new home. It was a little weird not to be interacting with adventurers and constantly building, but life was more peaceful and it felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulders.

That did lead Violet to be reminded of just how boring this world was compared to her old one, though. There weren't video games to play, books to read, or television shows to watch. She could likely recreate some board games to play and she was certain that her pixies would happily play them with her, but they had been a lot busier of late. More adventurers were starting to make it to the second floor, even if no one had made it as far as her second floor boss room just yet. Well, besides the local Lord and Lady, as Violet had found out from Amara.

She hadn't had confirmation as to which nobles were in her dungeon, previously, but it made sense for it to be the new local Lord and Lady. They had enjoyed the tea set and sweets she had given Amara for them. It would seem that the couple was happy to help her market her dungeon and were already actively taking steps to do so. However, they weren't, currently, in a place financially to obtain any storybooks for her. They weren't as rare as they would have been in medieval times in her old world, but they were hardly as common as those in modern-day either. They had immediately obtained a paint set for her, though, as a thank you and were happy to let Amara spread her faith to all of the locals. Violet supposed that things could certainly be worse than they were, so she was hardly going to complain about any of it.

Opening her skills list, she was once more reminded of her new [Achievements Masterlist] skill. She hadn't used it before she had gone into hibernation and she had been so absentminded as she worked on other things that she had completely forgotten about it, until now. Deciding it was worth exploring, she decided to ask her system questions about how the skill worked, learning as much as she could about it. There wasn't actually much that the system had to say about it, but she supposed that was likely due to how much creative freedom she had in regards to how to use it.

The achievements could be customized however she wanted, but she would be required to spend dungeon points to implement them. It was very similar to how she was required to set up the rewards in challenge rooms, but she could set it up in any room in the dungeon. She couldn't lock doors or anything behind the achievements, but she, otherwise, could create any stipulations she wanted.

The achievements also came in three types: unique achievements, common achievements, and repeatable achievements. The unique achievements cost two times the cost of the [Item] she wanted to set as its reward, just like a normal challenge reward. Those could only ever be earned by one person and were meant to be something more along the lines of "First to defeat the first floor boss in Thornkeep Sanctuary". The common achievements cost four times the cost of the [Item] used as a reward and were similar to the unique achievements, but they could be awarded to every non-dungeon entity that entered the dungeon, but only the one time. That was for achievements along the lines of "Defeat the first floor boss in Thornkeep Sanctuary" or "Reach the dungeon core room without killing anything". As for the repeatable achievements, it could be rewarded multiple times to the same individual without any limits whatsoever and cost six times the cost of the [Item] used for the reward. That was perfect for things like "Harvest one hundred plants from Thornkeep Sanctuary" or "Leave tributes in rest area type rooms in Thornkeep Sanctuary five times." All of the achievements would be awarded retroactively, but the system was very specific about the achievements only qualifying for her dungeon. So, whoever had defeated her emperor rock slime first could still get the reward, even if they never visited her dungeon again. It was mostly straightforward, but still interesting, nonetheless.

Violet wasn't really sure what sorts of achievements she wanted to make and she did hesitate a bit when she realized she'd likely have to research new rewards to use for it. However, that didn't last long when she realized just how big of a marketing opportunity it was for her dungeon. So, she decided to start off with just making a few of each.

Would you like to spend 100 DP to research flower pixie doll using the [Base Resources] clay, glass, undyed cotton, red dye, and green dye and the [Items] red rose tea party dress, white lace drawers, lacey white silk stockings, red rose dress shoes, red rose tea party hat, lacey white gloves, and glass pearl necklace?

The first two achievements Violet decided to set up were common achievements with one for defeating her first floor boss [Monster], the emperor rock slime, and one for defeating the second floor boss [Monster], the redcap myconid. The cute slime was just based on the basic slimes she had all over the floor while the ceramic doll was based on Holly with the same outfit that she wore. The cost was significantly higher than the plushie, but it was still significantly cheaper than the individual outfit components suggested it should be. Setting the rewards ended up bringing the total cost up to 360 DP.

Well, she technically had thousands of dungeon points in reserve, so it wasn't like she couldn't afford it, it was just unfortunate to watch her stockpile diminish. Violet considered traveling down to the first floor to try selling some merchandise, but she had been hesitant up until now for a reason. Before she could sell anything, she had to figure out what to sell. Some sweets and shelf-stable food goods might have sold well before now, but it was bound to have limited appeal in the long run. She had proper adventurers in her dungeon now and food was no longer scarce, so it would be better to research new merchandise instead of selling things that could easily be earned by completing challenges. However, spending more dungeon points on that just sounded like the opposite of what she wanted to do...

Shaking her head, Violet decided to focus on setting up the last four achievements. She figured two of each type should be good to start with. There would be plenty of opportunities for more, beyond that, in the future.

Would you like to spend 100 DP to research gentleman pixie doll using the [Base Resources] clay, glass, undyed cotton, brown dye, and green dye and the [Items] green cotton trousers, green cotton tailcoat, white silk dress shirt, white lace jabot, leather boots, engraved steel scabbard, leather belt, and iron sword?

These two were meant to be for the unique achievement associated with being the first to clear the first and second floor boss [Monsters]. The gentleman doll was meant to be Holly's brother, Willow, and was wearing a matching outfit. Violet suspected that whoever had been the first to clear the bosses would end up with both the reward for defeating the boss for the first time and for being the first to do so. She found the idea of them getting a cute, matching pair of pixies absolutely adorable. The rock slime plushie would feel less like one was getting a secret missing half of a set, but she still thought it a fitting reward.

Violet decided not to research something new for one of the repeatable achievement rewards. That achievement ended up being to exit the first floor after an hour or longer without sustaining any injuries. It was purposely left vague enough that they could get the reward for moving to the second floor or for leaving the dungeon entirely. It only gave a healing potion, but Violet hoped that it would encourage adventurers to be more careful. She didn't like the idea of children being harmed, people dying to her boss [Monster] because they rushed things, and she wanted to convey her intention for the first floor to be a safe space.

The new reward she had just researched was actually for the second floor and required them to exit the second floor after an hour or more without harming any pixies. She didn't mind if they farmed her horned rabbits or myconid for experience, but the pixies weren't even combat-based [Monsters] and she didn't want them to suffer unnecessarily. This seemed like the best way to encourage adventurers to treat them well instead of harming them, but it would take some time for the news to spread. Someone had to earn the achievement first and then share the news with others, but Violet could wait, she had plenty of time.
