“Well, would you look at it the captain sees his dead soldiers. So what do you say? How do you like my masterpiece?”
The captain turns back at that, gone was the haughty look that he had back in the tent, what replaced it was terror, pure unadulterated terror. He backs away from Kris step by step until he stumbles upon a rock and falls on his butt with a shrill cry.
“AAHHH.”
“Now, now stop shouting like a girl. Man up a little mate.” Kris says grinning.
“De…..Demon.” Mumbles the captain.
“Ah huh huh…… That’s where you are wrong my dear captain. Not demon, but daemon.”
Saying so Kris transforms. He gains a pair of leathery wings, like those of a bat, with black skin on the outside and grey on the inside. The said wings grew on his back as if passing through his clothes. His canines elongated and so did his hair making him look sinister, his thin toothy smile didn’t help in making him look any kinder. Behind him was a silhouette of a bat towering above him. Its eyes and wings were grey, but the rest was pitch black, so much so that it seemed to be merging with the dark of the night itself. The silhouette seemed to stare at him for a moment before it vanished as if he wasn’t worth its time.
“S…Stop. Please. I have a family. Please let me live.” The captain begs with tears soaking his eyes.
Hearing this Kris made an offended expression as if he was called out for doing something untoward.
“Everyone has a family, doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t pay for their actions. Hell, even we have families, but do you guys stop hunting us? So why is it that whenever we retaliate all you guys go begging for mercy?”
Hearing Kris say that made the captain lose all sense of hope. He got up roughly and just as roughly punched out, all his training and experience forgotten in front of mortal terror. Kris just sidesteps the hasty and weak punch, making the captain tumble and fall down again scraping his palms.
“Tut tut, that punch was way too shabby. Were you made a captain due to your connections or something? Because that punch was way too shabby mate.” Kris says clicking his tongue in apparent disappointment.
“Shut up you monster!” Bellowed the captain.
“Now, now just prior you say that I am a demon and now you say that I am a monster in spite of me telling you that I am a daemon. Have some respect for your killer will you.”
“You ruined everything. All you had to do was get caught and then give some information. You wouldn’t even have gotten hurt if you did so and I would have been set for life. So why? Why did you have to kill all of us? Now everyone here is dead because of you.” Shouted the captain mad with rage.
“Why? Because you chased after me with the intent to capture me and extract information out of me. Information that would mean reneging out on my oath and my duty.”
“Heh, no matter. That information could be achieved by us within a small amount of time. You being spotted here means that your base is nearby and when we find it, you will all get a miserable death like you guys deserve.” The captain gloated. His face regained its glow as he watched Kris’s face fall.
“HAHAHA… Now, do you realize the situation you are in? Now then, surrender and will guarantee a peaceful death to you and your cohorts.” The captain shouts at Kris, smirking at his reddening face. Kris looked like he would burst into anger any minute, only for him to smile the next minute. A mocking smile. This change in his expression confused the captain.
“Oops, just kidding. Do you really think that I would be foolish enough for being spotted anywhere near my base? All of this…” He motions towards the surroundings that are littered with corpses and blood-stained soil that glistened under the light of the torches that lay, fallen on the ground beside the said corpses. “…. was a set-up. It was a bait to make you idiots think that the base is here. Hopefully, you guys will waste your time roaming here, searching for the base that never was. After all, you guys are a nuisance and there are many things that we would rather do, than deal with you idiots.”

Hearing that broke the captain making him go into a daze. His mind was a mess, making him rethink everything. Suddenly the captain started laughing. The laugh was however creepy as if the person laughing lost everything and so gave up his own body to the devil.
“You will regret setting this trap, reinforcements are coming, and they will kill you. You have nowhere to run.” The captain shouts with bulging eyes and a maniacal grin on his face.
Seeing that Kris immediately smirks.
“You don’t have to worry about that. I will take care of my safety.” Saying so Kris slashes the throat of the captain.
The unnamed captain lay there grasping at his throat to stop the blood from gushing out. But it proved to be useless as in but a few seconds he bites the dust.
Looking at him Kris loses his smile and replaces it with a cold look on his face. He then looked into the distance and with a grimace flew there flapping his wings. He flew over the trees and out of the forest in a matter of minutes. He reached a clearing outside of the forest. He then landed near a man sleeping under a tree. He then goes ahead and kicks the said man, sneering at him.
The man startles awake grimacing and then glares at Kris. The man rises and punches out at Kris who evades it by moving his face. The man then growls and stops punching.
“Why did you wake me up, you bastard.” Asks the man scowling. The man was burly with a tight physique, which while not large was big enough to look intimidating. He had beautiful auburn hair that was tied in a ponytail and a magnificent beard.
“It is your mistake for sleeping out in the open Kefir. How many times do I have to tell you to not sleep in the open?” Says Kris coldly.
“Bah, like anyone can come near me with the intent to harm and I would not notice it. My instinct is too strong for that to happen.” Says Kefir with pride.
“I just did that.” Says Kris matter-of-factly.
“You are an exception. And even so, if you had truly intended harm I would have known.” Kefir says with a grin on his face.
“Wipe the stupid grin off your face alright.”
“Hey man, cut me some slack alright. After all the work I did tonight, I was just feeling a little tired.” Snaps Kefir, waving towards the view before them pointing at the ‘work’ he did.
In front of them was a battlefield full of corpses. Many were hacked apart as if by a wild animal while some were crushed as if they were battered by a car. It was not just humans though. There were a few armored cars laying around. They looked like they were part of a giant crash. Windshields smashed, hoods lay cracked open, some had their doors missing, one of the cars which had a gun on it was speared with another car, and its gun bent.
The scene in front of them looked more like the aftermath of a cyclone than an actual battlefield.
Looking at the scene in front of them, Kefir sported a proud smile.
“You could have gone a little easy against them, couldn’t you? Why did you have to make such a big mess? A clean battle would have sufficed. Did you have to massacre them so brutally?” Kris asks rhetorically, not expecting an answer.
“Bah, like you are one to talk. You probably played with those bastards before killing them, didn’t you? I was far more merciful, after all, I gave them a quick death.”
“Whatever, you should’ve seen that captain’s confidence in this so-called backup. It was hilarious.” Kris says stifling his laughter.
“Yeah, yeah I know how you are when it comes to the enemy,” Kefir says annoyed. “Sadistic bastard.” He murmurs.
“What was that you punk? How am I a sadist?”
“Damn you and your hearing. How are you not a sadist? You literally take pleasure at the misfortune of others.”
“I take pleasure at the misfortune of my enemies and those that deserve it. After everything that happened can you blame me? I never take any pleasure in the misfortune of the innocent, do I? And it’s not like I physically torture them before killing them. I just like watching them get destroyed by their own mistakes.”
“Yeah, yeah whatever,” Kefir mumbled looking a tad bit ashamed of calling him out when he knew that he was right.
Brrr……Brrr……Brrr…...
Kefir’s phone rang.
“Yes. What is it?” Kefir asks.
“Mr. Aur, the Guru asks for your return. So, I would suggest that you return as soon as the coast is clear.”
“Any problem?” Asks Kefir turning serious.
“Not any that could be discussed by the phone. Come back to the Underworld.”
The phone cuts off at that. Kefir puts down the phone and looks at Kris.
“We are being called back to the Underworld by the Guru.”
“Why?”
“Apparently it is not something that can be discussed on the phone. That can only mean that it is something very important.”
Hearing that Kris makes a motion for Kefir to follow him. They both leave the site of the massacre using one of the relatively unbroken cars and drive towards a cave.
After a few minutes, out came bursting a black ‘car’. It was hovering above the ground and was moving with a speed that made it look like but a black streak. The night made it harder to see the speeding ‘car’. In but a few minutes, they were far away from the site of the massacre and were but a black dot in the dark horizon.
