Chapter 2: Rio's Recovery

As Rio laid in his bed, he was still trying to come to terms with his new life and the memories he had inherited from the original Rio. He couldn't help but feel a mix of sadness and anger toward the Thorne family, especially his father, the Count. However, he was also grateful for Emily, his maid, who had always been kind and supportive to him.

Emily entered Rio's room with a tray of food, her eyes lighting up when she saw him awake. "Rio! You're awake! I'm so glad you're alright. I was so worried about you!" she exclaimed, relief evident in her voice.

"Thank you, Emily. I appreciate your concern," Rio replied, trying to keep the emotions from his new memories at bay.

Emily placed the tray on a table beside Rio's bed and sat down on a nearby chair. "You were unconscious for so long. Everyone was really worried about you. Especially your mother, the Countess. She has been arguing with your father ever since the duel."

Rio frowned, thinking about how his family had treated him before. "Why would she care now?" he asked, genuinely curious.

Emily looked at Rio, her eyes filled with compassion. "Despite everything, she's still your mother. She loves you, even if she has a strange way of showing it sometimes."

Rio mulled over this information. Although he didn't feel any emotional attachment to his family, he couldn't help but wonder if there was more to the situation than he initially thought.

Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Emily quickly got up to answer it. A messenger from the main residence handed her a letter. She thanked him and closed the door before turning to Rio.

"It's a message from the Countess," Emily said, opening the letter. "She wants to see you as soon as possible. It seems she's heard that you've woken up."

Rio sighed, knowing that he couldn't avoid facing his family forever. "I guess I should go and see her. But first, help me get ready, Emily."

Emily nodded and helped Rio to his feet, assisting him in dressing and preparing to face the Countess. As they left the room, Rio couldn't help but feel a sense of dread about the upcoming confrontation. But he knew that he had no choice – he had to face his family and their expectations head-on if he wanted to forge his own path in this new world.
