The ship is rattling and roaring as the scavengers pursue the glowing object across a starry void. The girl maneuverers the ship with extreme skill and determination, matching every twist and turn of her elusive prey. The stars seem to dance randomly as they fly through them. The only bearing they have is the glowing object in front of them.
After minutes of stomach-churning maneuverers, they finally see the end of the tunnel. The stars started converging towards a point. The glowing object and the ship both race toward the singularity. They pierce through it at tremendous speeds breaking through to the other side.
In a green meadow somewhere, villagers watch as stars begin dancing in erratic patterns. They were used to this sight, but they still marvel at its beauty. It was like a cosmic fireworks show that happens every now and then. An old man sits beside a campfire surrounded by curious children. He begins to tell a story as a ball of light and a battered ship fly out of the stars and into the distance.

“Legend says that a wandering god created these tunnels when it was venturing through dimensions. He leaves behind a gatekeeper to guard his paths. If you try to follow him without his permission, you lose your soul in the maze of stars.”
He pauses a moment before sighing, “But that’s just a myth. The truth is much simpler. The gatekeeper is actually a creature feeding off particles adrift in the fabric between dimensions. They breach through the walls for a quick breath before diving back in to search for more food. The stars are, well, poop.” Childish giggles can be heard all around as the old man mentions the funny word.
He continues, “This phenomenon is commonly known as a Star Dance by many travellers. They do not call it a Star Dance because the stars themselves dance. It is called that because the travellers have to follow the random path created by the gatekeeper, dancing among the stars as they chase it. Only the most skilful, or lucky, can make it through safely. One wrong move and…”
He claps his hands loudly and the children jump in fright. He then points to the sky. The stars in the sky begin dancing again and a lone gatekeeper disappears into the darkness.
