Execution

Execution

Alex

Alex was half a mile away from his allies, who were currently pretending to kill each other. His enhanced eyes allowed him to see them through walls, so he waited patiently for his prey to arrive. There was already one vampire on the roof of the stadium, who'd been watching and waiting the whole time for his own allies to arrive. After a few minutes, Dawson finally arrived, bursting into the stadium. Alex turned into smoke and ran over in an instant, positioning himself behind Dawson.

"You haven't improved as much as I expected. This won't be as hard as I thought.

Are you sure about that? I am stronger, but not so much stronger that he couldn't beat me. He continued waiting for his cue.

Dawson sighed and dodged Sarah's spear. Alex turned into smoke slowing his perception of time. He watched as Dexter's knife curved through the air. In this state, it looked pretty slow to Alex. Just as Dawson was about to block the knife, Alex sprung forward, summoning his armament. His eyes allowed him to easily discover Dawson's weak point, showing it as in orange glowing section on his neck. Alex cleanly passed his blade through that section, disconnecting his head from his torso. Alex landed softly on the grass below, already looking towards the two remaining vampires, who watched in horror as their boss' body toppled to the ground. They turned around to run, and Alex extended his left hand, launching his tendrils towards them and skewering them. He turned to Stella.

"That's all of them." He frowned and turned back to look at Dawson. "It felt too easy, though."

"Like I said before, there are two types of vampires. We're the kind that can regenerate even after our weaknesses are struck, and he isn't. As long as you're able to cut off his head, the fight is won in the first strike."

"Huh..." Alex turned to look at the hunters, who were approaching them. "Do you need anything else?"

"We took a picture of Dawson's corpse, so that's all we need." Dexter said as he walked up. "I'll have to tell them about you, but I doubt they'll do anything."

"While you're at it, can you get them to pay me?"

"Probably." Dexter laughed slightly as he answered.

Sarah sat against the wall, rubbing her head. Olivia healed her.

"Ahh, sorry about that." Stella said. "I got a little carried away at the end there."

"Well, it was certainly convincing." Oscar added. "Throwing the captain at me might have been more dangerous than dropping me off a building."

"I told you guys to stop calling me that." Dexter said, a sour look on his face.

"But you are the captain of our team."

Dexter sighed. He walked off to retrieve his knife and Sarah's spear from the stands. Oscar turned to the two vampires.

"You two use magecraft to enhance your weapons, right? If you're interested in expanding your abilities, the academy would probably be willing to teach you."

Alex looked over at Stella. "Do we even need to get stronger?"

"You never know. I was pretty confident before, but then Dawson showed up. It's worth looking into." She looked up at the stars. "I've heard some bad stuff about the academy, but that was a few centuries ago. Maybe they're not as bad anymore."

"What did you hear?" Oscar looked confused.

"Apparently, they kept interfering with my friends experiments."

"What was he doing?"

Stella stopped. "Huh? Guess I never asked."

Alex and Oscar both sighed.

"Oh. I forgot to eat Dawson." Alex walked over to where his body was.

Oscar watched as Alex devoured the vampire's body with his armament.

"That's really gross."

"Right?"

They looked at Alex waiting for his response, but he just stood there for a moment.

"Alex?" The two walked closer.

He turned to them, his face pale.

"The person that turned Dawson was an alpha vampire."
