a mischievous encounter part 2
A ton of thoughts were rushing through my mind, this bard had some how manipulated me and my thoughts with out the tell tale signs of skill activation, or glow of magic. Part of me wanted to turn Greg and Phil in, but they were offering to help me in the dungeon and if they could manipulate my mind while hiding the use of their skills and magic they must be strong enough to keep me alive. This could be lucrative and they wanted me to get certain monster as a summon.
My first question rose from my lips. “ What kind of monster?”
“That my friend is a tricky question. It has a bit of leeway what we really need a monster with a particular skill, and magic type, but Phil and I are confident there are a few in this dungeon.”
My next question came in as a statement “ my summoning magic might not be strong enough to control the monster. How is this going to work if I cant control such a beast.”
Phil responded this time “Greg can afford to provision a week long excursion in to the dungeon and we have planed for this, but I have high hopes for both you and Ozwald to become strong enough to make it past the third floor with our support. We are hopping this is more then a one time deal so we are making an investment in both of you.”
Greg chimed in almost immediately “ think of it as getting a leg up on becoming real adventurers. Once you see how our help you'll understand. Such help will never be provided through the guilds and our price is simply a future plan to make us all rich.”
that sold it for me it was a plan to build a future. Ozwald seemed hesitant but I was willing. I think it was my agreement that helped nudge Ozwald to joining. After my agreement I watched as Greg seemed to sink in to the ground were my shadow was. My shadow turned even darker. Shortly after I herd a soft melodic humming. Phil stood in Ozwald's shadow folded his arms and fell backwards and disappeared into Ozwald's shadow.
We stood inline for almost an hour the melodic humming I was hearing changed a few times while waiting. we got closer and closer to the guards at the front I found it odd I wasn't nervous at all, and finally I was standing before the guards with Ozwald and just like before the guard asked a series of question and cast inspect on Ozwald and I. We payed the fee for the two of us and we entered the dungeon.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
When I entered the dungeon this time the walls did not look like a cave with glowmoss and glow rocks hanging every where but instead looked like curved stone stairway spiraling up ward with torches on the wall. Greg seemed to crawl up and out of my shadow like it was pool of water. While Phil looked like he was lifted upward on a spring board. Phil took lead of the party and told us to follow him. Greg moved in behind us and pulled out a stringed instrument and stick with a string attached to it and simply walked behind us not even playing a single note. As we advance Phil would often throw shivs at spots on the walls next to the torches or leave glitter dust on a step of the stairs Greg told us he is marking traps and that it's best we avoid touching those areas. After 12 minutes of slowly ascending the stairs it opened up on a landing that seemed to be a swamp, I noticed a few plants that could be used to in alchemy to make some of the potions my family makes and a few more I didn't know about but I knew they could be used for alchemy. I relayed this “Greg I know a few of these plants can be used in alchemy for different potions, I think we should harvest them.”
“I think you are right young summoner, but be cautious this room is like to have monsters, Ozwald follow our young summoner here and be ready to attack while he attempts to harvest the herbs, it is likely that the act harvesting will cause the monsters of this room to ambush attack.”
Then greg started playing his instrument, and I felt more sure of myself and alert to my surrounding as I aproched the first herb cluster near me to collect. The first herb was redweed. Normally used at my shop for simple heal affects. I activated my skill gather-herb and my hand glowed slightly with white light as my fingers reached under the roots and could feel my magic slightly pulse into it preserving the magical properties of the redweed. It was then I revived a notification your knowledge and practice with this plant has boosted the affects from your gather-herb skill: you know the redweed plant is used commonly for healing affects in alchemy. The boost provided will preserve the healing properties by 5%. with this boost any one who eats the herb raw will receive a healing affect of 15 hp per serving of redweed. Ozwald's rapier struck to my left as little flowers type creatures were running tward me releasing spores when struck. And a debuff Icon appear next my health.
