Lucan was elated to finally have something showing on the screen besides the title, but was disappointed by the rewards. He had no idea how much 200 experience was, even if he now had an instinctive feel for what all the words like experience meant. He knew that there were statistics and a level but he didn’t automatically know his level or what an average amount of stats was.
Lucan realized that Hamlin had something about another way to learn and decided to ask him the question. “Hamlin, weren’t you saying there was another way you could teach me how to read? My first quest is just learning how to read and I’d prefer to not spend multiple years on this.”
“There is one way,” Hamlin said, “and it should work since you have access to the system. The great system allows for simple sharing of knowledge. It only works up to a certain point in complexity and nothing related to battling can be shared. Since I live out here alone I haven’t used it much. I’ll try to teach you the language but it is very possible that it may not work due to complexity.”
Hamlin put his hands up to Lucan's forehead and muttered the words [Knowledge Transfer].
Lucan’s head immediately felt like it had been hit by a horse’s kick. Everything around him was blurry and all he could hear was ringing. He looked at Hamlin just to see the man putting his hands on Luican’s shoulder. Lucan then promptly passed out.
----------------------------------------
Lucan awoke with a start. He had been moved to the small couch in Hamlin’s house. His head still hurt like hell but now he could at least see. The man from another world looked out the window and only saw pitch black. He didn’t trust himself to walk quite yet but he could at least take a look around the house. This was a room Lucan had never seen before and it was filled with papers showing crossed out pages of words and symbols. Some were in a different pile against the couch. He reached down and grabbed one to take a better look.
Outer World Summoning
Heart of a wormhole wyrm
Creature with a desire to escape in the world of choice
Creature above must be in a well
Copper Wire
Blood of ten types of creatures
Ritual circle shown in dedicated page
As Lucan read this his mind began to twist and turn, wondering what the purpose of such a ritual could be. Then he realized he had just read that piece of paper. It worked! He hadn’t gotten a migraine for no reason! He was about to check his quests for the reward until he realized what he had just read. ‘Outer World Summoning.’ He was from a different world and this was a ritual designed to bring creatures from a different world. Had Hamlin taken him from his world?
Now that he thought about it, he really wasn’t mad. If anything he really should be thankful. His life on Earth was terrible. Here, he had the potential to become a household name. He was given freedom that he had never dared to dream of.
Did Hamlin want him reading this? Lucan decided to just keep this information to himself right now white he put the paper back where it was. Now that Lucan had finished with that little adventure he decided to get his rewards from the quest.

Well at least he was sure he was done. But how did he get the rewards?
“Claim Tutorial Quest,” Lucan said on a whim.
Congratulations! You finished this quest in record time. Seriously. This quest would usually take years to learn since reading is too complex for [Transfer Knowledge] but it seems like you don’t care for the rules. I even had an idea to lower the amount of experience over time. I guess I should give you a bonus though.
[You have gained 400XP, the Completely Normal Cloak of Cloth, and the perk ‘Unfashionably Early’]
A very bland brown cloak appeared in front of Lucan and fell over him. When he grabbed the cloak another screen appeared in front of him.
Completely Normal Cloak of Cloth
This is a Unique and enchanted item.
This cloak may look like the most average thing known to man, but it is a fashion statement that will make you seem less annoying.
This item is enchanted. Normally I’d tell you what it is but I don’t like you. Figure it out.
Left with the knowledge that the item was one of a kind, and that it was somehow enchanted. The system seemed like it was kind of being an ass over the fact that he finished the quest so easily but at least he got some information. As soon as he put the cloak on, he noticed something. The cloak was a shade of brown that just slipped into the darkness, but would still be great camouflage during the day. The fact that the coloring fit stealth very well was interesting but it didn’t really seem like an enchantment. When he had time he could test it out a bit but for now he’d just keep it on and hope the enchantment isn’t something like spontaneous combustion.
Not really having anything left to do, he tried to get back to sleep. That was with an emphasis on the ‘tried to’ part. He had realized that no random old man would know how to do rituals for summoning things from a different world. And this whole interior was worth many times more than what an average farmer would make in an entire decade. It all made him very suspicious of Hamlin.
By the time Lucan was finally ready to go to sleep, the sun was starting to shine into his room.
There was a knock on the door, “Goodmorning Lucan,” he said with a caring tone, “you didn’t seem alright last night so I just brought you to somewhere that was hopefully more comfortable than the ground while you rested.”
“Ah thank you Hamlin,” Lucan responded, “I’m doing much better now, I don't trust myself to walk yet though.”
“May I open the door? I can also make breakfast for you if you want.”
“Yeah you can open the door. I’m in a cloak from the quest reward right now.”
Hamlin paused for a moment, “Is the item unique, by chance?”
“Yes, a screen showed up when I touched the cloak saying that it was unique. The system had a bit more information like that it was enchanted. It didn’t say what the enchantment was though. Seems like the system is pretty rude.”
“Lucan you can’t let anyone know of this item being unique. An enchantment just makes it even more valuable. People kill for something like that.”
Lucan looked at the cloak with a much more grateful gaze than before and responded to Lucan. “Well that should be pretty easy.”
Hamlin came in through the door and looked at Lucan on the couch, becoming quite puzzled. “That’s really a unique item? Did you read it correctly because everything in my body is telling me that’s a completely normal cloak. Usually it’s much easier to tell something is unique. And when it’s enchanted people’s magical senses can immediately tell. But I am getting nothing at all from that cloak you're wearing.
“I want to believe you, but I’m thinking you may have just come up with something with the head pain you may be going through. There is a way to show me proof but only do it with people you trust knowing details about your item. You can say the words ‘Show Item Information’ when both of you are touching it. This will cause the screen to show up for both of you, even if you read slightly different perspectives from the system. You can try this with me if you want, but if you want to keep information to yourself I understand.”
Lucan thought for a moment before speaking. “I barely even know much about the item myself. I’m only wearing it right now hoping that the enchantment will show itself during some random moment that triggers it. I’m just hoping it’s not something like exploding with me inside it. You said the perspective can be different for each person reading, and the system said it usually says what the enchantment is. It seems like it just doesn’t like me, so maybe you can actually find out what it does.”
Lucan took off his cloak, not not noticing that Hamlin’s eyes gained a bit more focus, and put it out in front of him. Hamlin grabbed the cloak with a light grip and Lucan spoke.
“Show Item Information.”
Lucan ignored the screen that showed up for him as soon as he noticed nothing changed. He looked at Hamlin just to see him staring at the screen in absolute shock.
