The coming of the Angel
Prologue 2 - What does angels like to eat?

Prologue 2 - What does angels like to eat?

Lucifer began to teach Luciel whatever she knew, in preparation for what was coming up for her. But first, there was the problem of her non-existent wings. After a series of weird experiments, from weird mortal lore to angel treatment, tiny wings propped out from her back, attached nicely right around her scapula.

The more power or blessed one was, the bigger the wings will become. Head angels like Lucifer or Gabriel had several wings, a sign of their limitless power. Small wings that belonged to low-ranked angels is sufficient enough to use the power of the creator to save and destroy, but for Lucifel, it looked just like a chick's wing, after learning about animals.

It was cute, and she didn't mind it.

But all Luciel had to do was to train and grow and her wing would grow exponentially. In human years, one would near 2 to 3 years to start walking by their own and in that time Luciel was already walking and able to converse properly with her mother. Her learning capacity was outstanding. Gabriel's blessing was just like a 'EXP boost' for Luciel.

Her body was able to absorb mana more efficiently. It was like looking at a sponge soaking everything in and is still able to take more.

Luciel had achieved mastery of magic in the basic and intermediate stages. The rest was up to the angel herself to 'unlock'. Likewise, she was trained in the art of war by Gabriel. Her proficiency in the various weapons improved to a extent where she could easily spar with most of the angels. Still, she could not even touch Gabriel or Lucifer.

Whatever free time Luciel had was either spent alone in her room or spent with her parents. Since angels had no facilities for education to speak of, most of was learned was taught by Lucifer, with Gabriel interfering whenever she got sidetracked and acted as a training instructor.

What Gabriel was afraid was having Luciel turning out into another Lucifer. She could not imagine what uproar if the young angel inherited the 'horrible' personality of the mother.

That said, sometimes the young angel would grin in a way that reminds her of Lucifer.

Was it too late?

----------------------------------------

"Mother?"

Luciel was left alone again as she woke up. It became a routine for Luciel to wake up before her mother, then waking her mother up. The most recent attempt had Luciel pouring cold water down her mother's back, resulting in a piercing scream that sounded like the hymn for the end of the world.

Instead, there was a note floating on the desk and Luciel approached it.

"I will be leaving for a few hours to the human realm, since they needed me to remove that meteor...behave yourself, mmaky? With love, Lucifer."

Luciel nodded and the note burned itself up, leaving no traces of it. In her line of sight, there was a plate of white object wrapped in red skin. She was curious.

She poked it, sniffed it and even touched it. She couldn't infer anything from that. She wondered what could this thing be, to the point of being irritated. For her to unable to comprehend something like this, it was her first time experiencing this feeling.

"Luciel, are you in?"

Gabriel stepped in and stopped in her tracks. Watching Luciel staring so hard at the plate of apples, she could think of a few possible scenarios. The most logical one was the mother was lazy and forget that she left the plate of apples out. But it wasn't any ordinary apple.

A apple that grew in Eden, it was valuable and extended one's lifespan. But it was just something angels can enjoy, since they do not suffer from aging.

"Papa?"

Rusting her hair, Gabriel chuckled as she took a slice of apple up. Then Luciel watched. She mimicked what Gabriel was doing, but hesitated as Gabriel bit a chunk of apple off. Gabriel smiled, giving Luciel a peace of mind.

She bit off a small piece and chewed slowly. All she was doing was copying what Gabriel did, her first time having consumed something that was edible. Her eyes opened wider, in shock and awe and surprised. So many mixture of emotions came at once.

She was happy that this was something yummy. She was surprised that it was something to eat and tasted delicious. She couldn't describe the 'taste', but it made her calm. She was shock that such a small slice contained so much power, that it was scary. Then she was impressed and in awe of this amazing item called the apple.

Gabriel couldn't help but hug her daughter. She was glad that she was here to see this.  It was something to brag about to Lucifer.

----------------------------------------

One day, Luciel was assertive.

"...Mother?"

A hesitant voice. Lucifer dropped whatever she was doing and immediately focus all her attention she can muster on her daughter. It was a rare occurrence that her daughter would act like this. She grabbed hold of Luciel's hands together and nodded.

"Anything for you, Luciel."

"What is ice-cream?"

"Huh? Oh, that?"

Lucifer blinked as she thought about it.

"I think it's easier to show you. Let's go for a walk outside."

They headed out together after taking an hour to settle on what clothes should Luciel wear. In the end, she wore a sundress with a straw hat, while Lucifer was dressed in her angel outfit, plus with pants. The domain of angels was always well kept, so there was no need for shoes.

They flew to the park. By the way, since Luciel could not manage with her wings yet, Lucifer carried her in her arms.

The park had trees that are never seen on the world below. Those are what the angels named mana trees. It was a source of light itself when at night, and allows anyone to replenish their mana if they desire so. Thus, it was a place where celestial beings gathered occasionally, and one might glimpse such a creature from the legends resting at the place.

The moment when Lucifer let her angel down, she was staring at everything. The head angel dragged her daughter to a bench, telling her to wait there. Luciel only replied with a nod as she looked around.

The smell was different. She could only understand that this was the smell of nature, though artificial. Luciel could not sit still, her instinct telling her to run around and explore. There were other angels here to and they were all staring in her direction.

They were trying their hardest not to, but even angels sometimes succumb to their desires.

"Who's that angel?"

"Did you see that, that angel was carried by the head angel!"

"Is she a relative?"

"She looks like the head angel..."

"Aww..."

Lucifer was amused as she observed the scene unfolding. She took the ice cream, vanilla flavored, from the vendor and got herself a popsicle. Ah, the amazing creation of humanity. What will she ever do if she didn’t find out about these delicious treats in other dimensions.

The gasps and whisper became louder as Lucifer returned. She handed the ice cream to her daughter, telling her to grab the bottom part. She could see the sparkles in the young angel's eyes. Lucifer wished she had her memory device, which was called a camera back down in the human realm.

She controlled herself. She was the head angel and it won't do any good to her to ruin her image.

It was too cute though.

Lucifer patted her daughter on the head. That was the best she can go without glomping her.

"Mother...so this is vanilla?"

"Yes, isn’t it delicious? Too bad the world we are in now lack good food like this."

"Oh...yes, it's great!"

Such a cheerful girl. Lucifer felt her heart sank, a certain emotion bubbled in her heart. Was she really going to let her girl down to this world, where anything can happen. The heavens shook as her thoughts went wild. There was even the sound of thunder cracking, a sign of the end of the world.

There was a slight panic as the bystanders watched Lucifer changed her form out of nowhere. It stopped so suddenly as it started when Luciel grasped her mother's hand.

"Mother?"

Instantly, everything turned back to normal. Lucifer wiped her eyes and smiled back at her worried girl. The other angels dare not imagine what would happen if it had escalated even further.

"It's okay...thank you dear."

Lucifer tightened her grip, thanking the creator. It will be alright, she can feel it. She continued watching Luciel as she tried to finish her ice cream and returned back home the same way they arrived.

When they reached home, Lucifer was scolded by Gabriel. The tee-hee! didn't help as Gabriel smacked her head in irritation.
