Yesterday I was riding through the lost city of Palgrave. Harry thought it would be a good place to try and scavage some useful items from the forgotten days. Yet, the entire city was just as I expected, derelict.
Except, there was one building that I can only assume used to be a library. There were many destroyed books and what I guessed were shelves. However, there was one locked cupboard that was still fairly intact, it was made of thick iron.
With a few hits of George’s hammer it was opened and what I found was many books that were still in good nick. They were fairly battered but still good enough to read.
An hour ago our crew set up camp and as I sat by the fire I decided to have a look at the books, I wondered why of all the books these were kept in the security of an iron safe.
Attached to the top book was a single sheet of paper with writing on.
“These are the tales of Gal Jaymie and Orion of Izek.
Their stories imbody the waring times of our world.
The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
For the good and the bad, these two are the truth of many important stories of our time. With the years to come, everything will disappear. However if someone was to find these, they may learn a few lessons.
To the reader, enjoy, take in and observe. For these are the heart of what has made our world what it is today.
Master Scribe Jahalory, 134 HT”
134 HT? That was nearly four centuries ago. So much of history has been forgotten by those days. The world we know now is so different. Maybe these books could answer a few questions of what happened. Of why the world of that time was forgotten.
Weirdly, the writing on this sheet of paper is in our current tongue, yet the writing in the books is of the old language. Luckily for me I know someone who can translate it.
When we get back to the city I will have Marine convert the writing. Who knows what we will learn.
It’s been four weeks since I gave Marine the books, she sent word yesterday that she has translated the first one which I can’t wait to read. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them.
When I spoke to Marine she was obsessed with novels. She said they are of great importance and will get to translating the rest straight away.
“Now, my old language isn’t perfect but I’ve done the best I can translating it.” She told me.
She also told me that the name, “The Chronicles of Jaymie and Orion” was written after the books were finished. Instead, each book had been given a different name.
So here I sit, on my comfortable bed, ready to read of this Gal Jaymie and Orion of Izek. Two people I have never heard of before.
