Bran castle was the home of the noble family of Transylvania and was the most prominent of all the castles in Transylvania.
Bran castle was not like any other castle built in the mediaeval times to increase its defiance; it was built on a hill about 2,500 feet High in the center of the castle town. The castle was surrounded by an 8 meter High and 6 meter wide stone wall. The wall was surrounded with 10 meter wide marsh that was created to reduce the possibility of a Siege. There was only one way to enter the castle wall was through a strong wooden suspension bridge reinforced with steel which was lowered above Marsh to provide entry inside the castle. The castle was large enough to settle all of the townspeople in it. The castle was magnificent and strongly built; it contained 57 rooms and many hidden passages. If you got lost in the castle it would be hard to find your way back.
The castle contains a cathedral, kitchen, audience hall, throne room, a dinner hall, a banquet hall, basement, armoury, and a dungeon in the tower above the castle.
The armoury had the most extensive collection of weapons from daggers, swords, Spears, lance to cross bows and sets of full body Armor; it also contained Vlad II personal collection which he collected in different battles.
The only people living in Bran castle were Vlad II and his family and some of his loyal subordinates, maids and servants who took care of food and daily errands.
