Chapter 2222
Three days later, Liam got better and could get out of bed.
Benjamin held a party to express his apology to Renee and the others.
Before attending the party, Leia held Renee's hand, frightened. "Is he plotting something?"
After all, they had witnessed Benjamin's craziness. He could even kill his only daughter! It seemed unlikely that this was just an ordinary party.
"Don't be scared. We can fight them if worse comes to worst," Justin said casually as he walked behind them. He found a spot and sat in front of them.
The army Austin had promised Renee was already on guard outside of the party, hence Justin's confidence. Besides, the Baldwin family was informed beforehand to come assist them if anything went wrong.
Since he had absolute power, he was fearless.
"You're right. We can still fight them. I'd like to see what tricks that crazy Benjamin is trying to pull." Leia said.
She stopped taking things too seriously, and casually walked into the place and took her seat. Xavier, sitting beside her, was talking happily to Benjamin.
At the center, beautiful women in traditional clothes were dancing. There was a table full of exotic delicacies. The party seemed like a harmonious and happy reunion.
When Xavier saw Leia take her seat, he eagerly handed her a glass of purple wine. "Come and try this drink! This is the newly brewed mulberry wine. Try it, it's sweet."
Leia couldn't be bothered to talk to him, but failed to hold herself back when she smelled the wine. She accepted it and thanked him.
After tasting it, she found it tasty and eagerly shared it with Renee. "Try this wine, Ren. It's good!"
Renee accepted the wine with a frown. She studied its color carefully and got suspicious. "Is this wine okay?" Normally, mulberry wine was dark red, but this one was bright red. It seemed abnormal.
"Are you saying that I added something else to the wine, Ms. Everheart?" Benjamin asked. He was in the main seat and was observing Renee, so he naturally heard her conversation with Leia. The kindness on his face dissipated.
Renee glanced at Macsen and Luneth, who were sitting on Benjamin's right. "Not necessarily you, Mr. Jenkins. Someone else might be scheming something."
Macsen had nearly killed all of them, but Benjamin didn't punish him whatsoever. Instead, he allowed Macsen to take an important seat, as if the latter were the host. It was humiliating for Renee and the others.
Macsen glared at Renee, his eyes radiating cold fury. "Are you saying I added poison to the wine?"
"I didn't say that," Renee said mildly; how easily it was to infuriate Macsen! "But you can't wait to admit to it."
"How dare you!" Macsen snarled.noveldrama
