Chapter 1.3: The City That Worships the Stars

Hoshi kept walking to the nearby city until he arrived at the front gate. By the entry was a sign once again in the strange language. It read "Celestis - The City of Stars".

Hoshi attempted to open the gate but it was locked. A few seconds later to the front gate came a guard.

"Who are you—" the guard began, but as soon as he looked at Hoshi stopped and gasped.

"I am Hoshi Satoh. I wish to enter the city."

"Of course, sir!" the guard suddenly acted towards Hoshi as if he were royalty.

Hoshi entered the city and as he did all eyes were on him. Hoshi had no idea why, though.

"Mommy? Is that Brutus?" a young kid asked his mother as Hoshi passed him.

Brutus? Does he mean that Celestial I'm blessed by? Hoshi thought.

"I-I don't know... I think it is." the mother replied, shocked.

Hoshi himself didn't quite know how to answer as he knew he was not Brutus, but only blessed by him, but clearly, all the city folks thought he was.

After a while of Hoshi just walking around and checking out the city, Hoshi ran up a short, middle-aged man with a luscious mustache in a medieval poet-like costume.

"Hello, sir. The king requests to meet you." the man said.

"Why?" Hoshi replied.

"I think you know why."

"I don't."

"I think you do."

"I actually don't."

"Just follow me."

And so Hoshi followed the short man, still wondering what he was talking about. Was it about his blessing?

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

After a while of walking both of them arrived at the gate of the king's castle. The gate slowly opened as they both entered, a row of knights on each side of them at the end of the path - the king and an older lady standing by him.

As Hoshi continued walking he felt like he was on a red carpet. Once again all eyes were on him. Hoshi and the man walked up to the king and the older lady beside the king began talking.

The king was of course wearing a golden crown, had a large greying beard along with a blue and gold outfit. The older lady beside him was wearing a simple robe-like dress with the same color scheme.

"Kneel," she said in a serious manner.

Hoshi began to kneel as the old lady stopped him.

"Not you." she said and pointed at the king beside her, "Him. Kneel."

"Y-yes, mother." the king said as he kneeled in front of Hoshi.

"N-no need!" Hoshi blurted out, "What's going on anyway?"

"You really are not aware are you." the man beside him said, "I didn't expect Brutus to be this... unintelligent."

"Brutus." Hoshi finally realized what was going on, "I'm not him!"

"What?!" The king asked surprised at Hoshi's statement, "Then why do you give of Celestial energy and you somewhat resemble Brutus."

"Ohhhh. Well, you see — I've been blessed by him."

"Blessed by a Celestial?" the old lady exclaimed, "Being blessed by a Celestial is a one time in an eon occurrence!"

"That's nice," Hoshi replied.

"And as you know, " the king continued where his mother left off, "We are the City of the Stars. We worship the Celestials. You are a god to us!"

"That's cool." Hoshi once again replied unfazed, "So does this mean you'll give me money, a home, and anything I want."

"Yes of course-"

"'Cause I don't want that." Hoshi cut off the king with a statement that surprised everyone, "That sounds nice, but would get boring real quick. With my power, it would be better to help people and go on an adventure."

"Of course... You are a Celestial in the end." the king replied with a calm smile, "But in that case... Is there anything we can do?"

"Well... Actually." Hoshi replied with a grin on his face, "There is one thing - protection. Defense."

"You see," Hoshi continued, "I may be blessed by the Celestial of strength and magic, but other than this armor I have basically no defense."

"I see..." the king replied.

"Yeah, that was the plan."

"Uhh. Yes." the king continued, "In that case, I shall have my best blacksmith make a shield for you. Will that be good?"

"Yes, very," Hakaku replied.

"In the meantime, you can stay here in the castle."

"Very, well then."

And so the deal was made, and Hoshi would soon be able to improve his defense.
