The Moon

"Why can't you just offer my brother for marriage?" Selene asked her father during their dinner while pointing at her brother, who is clearly not listening to their ongoing conversation at the table.

"He's older than me and carries the Lunar name when he gets married. Do you want to unite the two kingdoms? Take him and get him married to the Sun Court" Selene offered.

"Selene, how many times do I have to tell you that the Sun Court only has one heir, and it's a he" The Lunar King replied. "Please understand" he sighed.

"Doesn't the Sun King have a daughter? I heard that she's about my age as well." Selene said

"He does have a daughter, but she was born from a concubine so it doesn't count." her brother Mikael replied to her.

"It's not fair" Selene pouted. "My whole life is not fair. I've never left Lunaria, I can't go out on my own, and now I can't even pick my groom" she cried while crossing her arms and staring daggers at her father and brother.

Her father sighed once more and shook his head, not knowing how to answer back.

"Come on Selene, don't be like that. You are the chosen heir by the Crystal Crown. You are the one who has the skills to rule effectively. So, marry the Sun King's son, and then take the reins in ruling the united empire." Her brother said, with a smirk on his face. "I heard that the Sun heir is all brawn with little brain."

"That's another issue! I heard he's stupid!" Selene shouted. "I wanted to get married to someone smart and kind, who can talk to me for hours about topics that matter. I don't want to get married to someone who is a simpleton" she reasoned. "Besides, what if he gets a concubine too? You know the Sun Court has little morals over household affairs. I will not stand by if he gets a concubine" she sneered.

"He will not get a concubine. Once the empire is united we will follow the old traditions of Celestia from a thousand years ago." Her father replied. "You don't have to worry about anything"

"I just... I just feel like cattle being sold," she said sadly.

Her father and her brother did not reply, they didn't like the situation either, but they know that no matter what she does, in the end, she still has to marry the Sun Heir.
