“Miko!?” I looked down, she was starting to spasm again and was drenched in sweat

“Whats wrong Sir Udon…Rival Miko!” Umi came running when she heard my scream

“Whats wrong with her? Why isn’t she healing?” Was the medicine I made not good enough?

“Hero Udon, please calm down, she’s just trying to restore her mana, it may be an unpleasant and scary sight, but this is how monsters absorb the mana around them” Serena explained to me, is that all?

“That is true, the last people to wield artifacts was the Demon King who wielded the cursed Glaive of Joy and the last known Hero who wielded the Holy Spear of Righteousness, but that was around 300 years ago” Demon Kings and actual Heroes were also apart of this world? I do remember one of the morning announcements mentioning Demons, but Serena just said the last known Hero, does that mean to become a known Hero is different that becoming a Hero Weapon?

“Can you see what type of cursed artifact it is?” Umi asked, she was seeming more interested in this artifact than the actual holder of it

“I can sense a glimpse of what I believe it is, but I cannot be certain” Considering his Neptune’s right hand man and a Merfolk its most likely…

“It depends on the wielder, cursed artifacts are different depending on who holds them. Some people can only wield Holy artifacts, while others can only wield Cursed artifacts, if they try and wield one that is not suited for them they are given the curse from the artifact not matter if it’s cursed or holy” Serena explained to me, so bottom line, artifacts are just curses, it seems like a church is involved with how the naming process came to be, anyone that wields an artifact they deem as Holy is a man of god while anyone that wields an artifact that is cursed is a demon, so it goes back in earth’s mythology.

“We’ll start getting ready to head out” I gave the order, the three girls nodded their heads and left to get ready

“Master Udon” I was about to get myself ready when I heard Miko’s soft, weak voice

“Miko, you’ll stay here with Vnaa, you need to rest more” I wasn’t going to take Vnaa either, despite being strong she was still a child, if I could keep her out of any fights, than I would.

“Please don’t leave my side” Miko said softly trying to sit up

“What did I just say, you need more rest, don’t move yet” I laid Miko back down on her back

“Please don’t leave yet” Miko pleaded to me, why doesn’t she want me to leave? I need to get vengeance, doesn’t she want me to?

“I do, but, I don’t want you to leave my side yet, please stay a while longer” Miko looked at me, her eyes filled with fear and tears

“Umi also made Papa Udon sleep on her knees” Vnaa came back over to us and joined into the conversation

“She made him do what” The atmosphere around Miko and Umi grew tense, Umi looked scared.

“Well, I’ll go tell Serena we’ll be staying here a little longer” Umi quickly left, what was that about?

“Are you going to be ok Big Sister Miko” Vnaa walked over to Miko and stroked her hair

“I’ll be fine Vnaa, I promise” Miko smiled and Vnaa and ruffled her hair. Those two really got along, maybe I should leave Vnaa with Miko when I go off by myself.

Everyone had already had dinner and was sleeping, I sat at Miko’s side, the only thoughts crossing my mind was the ones of my little sister, she only died due to my actions, my stupidity, its the same with Miko.

“Master Udon, please don’t cry” Miko woke up and grabbed my hand

“Your one to talk” I sniffled back in my reply, I hadn’t realised I was crying

“I’ll stop crying so much Master Udon, if it’ll make you stop”

“No, that’s not that…Damn it Miko, I don’t want to lose you!” I had realised my mistakes of how I was treating Miko, I didn’t want to bring harm to her due to my actions.

“You won’t lose me Master Udon, I have to admit though, you were right before”

“What are you talking about now” I sat up straight and wiped the tears from my eyes

“I was lonely, all those years in that cave by myself, scared of any human that approached, when I encountered you I saw the purity in your heart and couldn’t help but want to be by your side, if you let me, I promise I won’t leave you” I looked at Miko, my eyes widened, that’s all I ever wanted to hear from someone since my little sister died, everyone had left me since then, I just wanted someone to stay by my side. I sat at Miko’s side for the night, I kept using my healing magic every time I had enough mana. I swore to myself, that this would be the last time we shed tears, no one would bring harm to anything dear to me again.
