............................
As he read the window for the quest he spurted past the guards that wanted to intercept him but he could not care less since the time was running down.
1 hour 59 minutes remaining.
Grim saw other elfs but he just passed them without even greeting them.
But soon he found a familar group.
" Father where are the ancient beasts sleeping in the forest? " He said.
As he spoke he dug his heels into the ground and a screeching noise exploded around him.
" Uhm , ahh , in the cavern at the outskirts of the city , southwest of the gate. But boy i want to introduce someone to you. " The king said.
He noticed the group that has increased its numbers since the last time he saw them.
The king himself accompied by the platinum robbed figure and the cool and elegant elf but there was another person way smaller then the rest.
She had pink hair tied in twin tails extending to her lower back dressed in fine robes with emerald colored eyes.
" Can't no time. Only got 1 hour and 50 minutes left to consult the ancient mythical beasts. Later. " He shouted at them since they were already 100 yards apart.
It took him 10 minutes of running at full speed before he reached the gates.
The guards wanted to stop him but with a quick side step he past them easily and they were suprised to see the pheonix on his back so they stopped the pursuit.
He entered the forest and found himself surrounded by a mirade of noises.
Chirping was the main cause of this natural noise every forest should make and even though Grim was running at full speed the birds didn't stop but just continued on with their crecendo.
15 minutes of running through the forest in a southwest fashion he reached a fissure in the ground and without thinking he jumped down.
Considering the 20 foot drop it was surprising Grim didn't even take notice of this.
He saw a opening in the fissure and something guided him towards it.
As he entered the crack a window appeared.
*tring*
You are the first one to discover the Dungeon of the forgotten fissure.
Double Xp and gold received from monsters for 1 week.
Quest Xp increased by 400%
The first kind of Monsters you encounter will drop some of their best loot.
With a swipe of his hand the message disappeared and he entered the dungeon.
He saw a few bubbles floating on the edge of his vision and he decided to tap one of them with his fingers , but to no avail his hand slipped through.
Concentrating his vision on them he saw names displayed besides them.
" Inventory. " Grim said.
As he said this a small bluish square appeared before him and he noticed 5 different things inside of it.
First the bag he had received from the Inn keeper in the town of beginners.
He saw it useless to open it now since time was of a crucial element.
Next was 20 pieces of bread and 2 canteens filled with water.
The other 2 were his trusted companions , the shield guard and the mace.
While running he strapped his shieldguard to his arm and tested the maces weight.
Now he took a look at the 4 bars on his lower left field of vision.
A red , blue , yellow and green one.
In order they were the health , mana , stamina and satiety bar.
The stamina bar was only filled to a third and he knew in a few seconds he would become exhausted from running.
* tring*
You are exhausted stats decreased by 25% for 10 minutes
Rest is adviced
If you don't rest more severe effects will occur
He slowed his running and opened his inventory again.
Grim took out a bread and the canteen to fill up his satiety level which also was low around 50%.
He rested for 10 minutes and resumed his pursue with long and purposeful steps.
" Character Window ".
*tring*
{ Authors Note}Got problems with coding , will fix it for the next chapter
As he looked at his stats he stared in disbelieve.
WIth his meagerly lvl 1 he reached the potential of a lvl 68.
Considering his 337 extra stat points while one gained per lvl up 5 of them.
Counting with the 100 Health and Mana he gained through his title he was at lvl 72.
But Grim knew this was achieved through hard work.
His daily training and studys inside of the castle paired with the best intsructors.
Also his class that gave him 25 to each stat and the Hp and Mp and his title of the kings family gave him 5 for each.
If that wasn't enough already the fame that came with his title was a enourmes sum of 650 while the remaining 100 came from his previous interactions with people.
The leadership was half earned and half given from class and title.
But even though Grim had all this , he knew it was not quite enough.
He wanted more , more free stat points.
Grim already set his heart to a rigorous training schedule after he entered the Castle once again since he will need all the extra points.
His class was a double edged sword.
The 30 levels , attribute wise , he gained from his stats was just a facade.
After completing this quest Grim knew , due to the book he read about it , the 2 skills he would be thaught.
One would be the bond of antiquity.
This being a passive skill that would increases each stat by another amount depending on the creature he would bond with.
The other one was the reason why he needed more.
Or what Grim called the balancing skill.
An active skill called , force of will or freedom of will.
Either to dominate the mind of his bonded creature with supremacy and hatred or ensnare it with his charisma or his demanor to follow his orders with love and affection.
It sucked up 25% of his total stats and summon the mythical beast.
Grim knew for a fact that the insane king had force of will.
He was a little unsettled at the thought he could gain the same ability but what is done is done.
Another downside of this class that one would only learn 2 skills while the warrior class learned 3 passives and 2 active skills while they job changed.
Mages learned 4 spells and 2 passive abilitys while the ranger and thief classes learned a whooping 4 actives and 8 passives.
But Grim knew , due to his studys , that the skills one would gain give little advantage in the game.
The real killer skills could only be obtained in the wilderness while defeating epic monsters or doing really hard quests.
Dungeons were also an option to acquire those skills.
Another option was the ' low level skills ' which one could acquire through repetition or hard work , like the craft professions.
As Grim ran along the underground caverns he had encountered numerous beasts.
First Rabbits , foxes and now wolfes.
But what could wolfes do to him with a measly lvl 15-20?
Nothing he lightly tapped them with his mace and they fell lifeless to the floor.
A few more minutes passed and he found another fissure that lead him further down.
But guarding this fissure was a vicious looking white wolf that seemed 3 times the size of the other ones.
Above its head was a Lvl 25 sign but Grim ignored this and rushed towards it.
2 precise smashes to its head later it also feel to the floor.
During the dungeon numerous annoying sound effects could be heard and so Grim decided to use the computer like intelligence of this game.
" Block incoming level up messages until i am level 50. Distribute stat points per level 2 to strength 1 to dex and 2 to vit. "
* tring*
Auto leveling method activated
Level up messages will appear after level 51
And another one opened up.
* tring*
You have cleared the first floor
You can now speak with a tier 1 mythical beast and maybe bond with it
Notice: The more floors are cleared the higher the tier of the mythical beast.
Grim already expected this due to the book he had read but now his vigour renewed itself.
This floor took him around 10 minutes to clear while walking and fighting so counting the remaining time he could at most clear 6 extra floors with 5 minutes remaining to bond with a mythical beast.
He was disatisfied as he looked at his satiety and stamina bar which was down to 3/4 of the maximum amount.
' Make that 4 floors more if i have to rest again. DAMN. ' Grim thought.
Shouting inventory he reched for another bread and realized his stamina bar went up 5 times faster then normal while eating.
A mischevious smile appeared on his face.
Floor 2 , 3 ,4 and 5 were cleared in a meager 14 minutes due to his newly developed hunting ... skill.
The monsters were ranged from level 20 - 50 so now Grim was unable to one shot them but on the 6th floor the lvl minimum had reached 55.
Their life was easily at 1000 and their strength at a hundred as they were stupid and fat ogres.
The stench they emmitted was like a pit full of week old rotting corpses and rats feasting on them , at least that was what Grim thought.
' 4 hits should be enough to kill those guys but there are 3 of them ', Grim thought
He jumped up from a rock and slammed his mace into the unsuspecting ogres head and decreased its vitality by 50%.
*tring*
Critical hit dmg x 2
*tring*
knocked back
After those 2 windows appeared the ogre he just hit flew , with his easily 400 pounds , into the other ogre that was closest to him and both hit the wall behind them.
Their health bar that was displayed above their heads decreased further by 25% and both were stunned for 5 seconds.
The still standing ogre was baffled but gripped his tree trunk like club and rushed towards Grim.
With a quick step he side stepped the incoming weapon and crashed the mace into the ogres rib cage.
*tring*
His knockback effect lucked out again but before the ogre was flung back Grim sliced at him with his shieldguard.
Both attacks lowered its health to under 50% and the uncushioned force with which it crashed into the wall did the rest and it remained lifeless on the floor.
The other 2 broke the stun and persude Grim one by one.
The uglier one of the 2 swung his club but Grim made a quick motion and was now directly before the other one and slammed his mace into its groin.

Fatal blow to exposed weak spot 1.5 x dmg.
It also fell to the floor still holding its crotch as Grim blocked a swing from the other oger , that was aimed from his blind spot , with his shieldguard.
He took 100 damage to his now massive pool of health which only decreased it by 5%.
* tring*
Blocking reduced the damage by 400%
' Oh crap those guys can kill me in 5 hits ' Grim thought while he finished of the last ogre.
The fissure , that lead to the next floor ,was now available to his devices so he stepped through the opening ignoring the renewed *tring* he received.
.....................
Now there were only 20 minutes remaining after Grim had cleared more floors.
Currently he was on the 10th floor and he knew this was the last he would reach.
The last few floors took a tool on his mental health as well , who wouldn't after killing monster for over an hour without rest and pause with his new ... hunting skill ....
Also his bread reduced drastically to only 5 loafs.
But to make the matters worse for every floor the monsters level increased by 20.
He peaked around a corner and saw a humongous dire wolf that was twice Grims size at the shoulders.
Level a whooping 135.
Health about 2000 give or take a few hundred.
Even though he was able to see the Health bar there was no numerical value on them but considering its level and how wolfs were in other games that was what Grim concluded.
Since wolves were agile , fast and either cunning or hunted in packs Grim knew etching closer to it while being undetected was out of question so he just charged in.
Neither a battle-cry or heavy breath announced Grims charge but the wolf sensed his opponent and rushed towards Grim.
With quick movements the wolf closed the distance of 20 yards in a second and jumped slightly and aimed his razor sharp teeth at grims head.
Grim bashed into the open mouth of the creature with his shield and the wolf bit down on it.
' Gotcha! ' Grim thought.
He used his mace and swung it down right behind the row of teeth where the wolf had bit his shield.
" AWOOOOOOHHHHH! " The wolf howled in pain as his upper jaw bone broke.
This reduced its health by a whooping 35% but Grim knew his normal strikes would only inflict 10% damage.
But now since its snout was broken it couldnt release the shield anymore , as Grim pressed his arm down and so locked the moveable lower jaw of the wolf in a grip that promised the beast only death.
The big eye was Grims next target as he swung down mercilessly before the wolf fell down on the floor with blood oozing out of this once majestic creature.
Naturally Grim felt a twing of regret seeing this noble animal on the ground in this fashion but he had no time to waste so he began to run of with his still half eaten loaf of bread inside of his mouth.
" I promise i will give you a proper burial after my quest is done. " Grim said while running off.
Grim was literally in a rage since he killed the wolf and now he faced goblin hunters , with the same level so he unleashed his fury on them.
With strikes that only repetition of years could accomplish he beat the poor goblins into a bleeding mass of flesh so no one would ever recognize them for what they used to be.
In the next room he encounterd a squad of goblins.
2 held crude shields while another 2 had shortbows made of bones and the last one was a Shaman judging by the staff he was holding.
" Guess today is not your lucky day im angry ." Grim said as he walked cautiosly towards the fiends.
He operated his inventory and took out another bread and placed it , completly intact , to his lips and held it between his teeth without biting into it , yet.
A few guttural sounds and whistlings later they 2 shield goblins attacked him.
With a swing filled with his fury he crashed right into the opponents shield and broke it into a thousand pieces.
As the goblin got knocked back Grim repeteadly smashed its head with his mace until it suffered the same fate as the goblins in the last 2 rooms.
The remaining 4 goblins were in panic at the sight and the Shaman that had started casting something even broke his focus so he exploded at the mana flux he had caused.
" 2 Dead , 3 to go. " Grim said as he continued his bloody work.
He continued in this fashion with beating one with all his strength and finishing off the panicing rest for the last 5 rooms or so.
But now he was standing in front of the last room and no fissure was inside.
A Unicorn was nibbling at a speckle of moos growing out of the wet and rocky wall.
Grim checked his Quest status and he had 10 minutes left before the quest expired.
' Is that the last tier of mythical beast? ' Grim thought for himself.
It was peaceful and it definetly was a mythical beast that was said to be pure and good and so it was revered in the elfen culture as a holy being with great intelligence.
While Grim racked his brain to no avail he just stepped out into the open and approached the Unicorn.
His weapon still sheated Grim approached the Unicorn with cautios steps and outstretched palms to show it that he was friendly.
As they were only 10 yards apart the beast turned its head and Grim had a dubious feeling inside of his guts.
" Ahh a Guardian has come. Will you form a bond with me? " The Unicorn asked him.
The feeling intensified itself and Grim knew something was terribly wrong.
" I may , but tell me , what do you want from this bond? " Grim asnwered with another question.
" Why do i have to want something from this bond? "
The unicorn tilted its head slightly at the question.
" Let me rephrase , what is your wish that me your soon-to-be master would do with you as a partner? " Grim rephrased it.
The Unicorn raised its head and stared at the ceiling before he answered.
" The same what my last Master did , destroy everything vile and trecherous in this world. " The Unicorn answered with delight.
Grims face turned pale at the realization he had.
" You are Itharos first Mythical beast? " Grim asked in shock.
Neighing happily the Unicorn was excited to hear its old masters name.
" Then you also killed innocent children , orcs , draconians , humans , dwarves and elfs alike. " Grim said dryly.
Now the Unicorn tilted its head again at the frustration it felt coming from the boy.
This frustration soon turned into rage and the boy charged at the Unicorn aiming for its forehead where his single horn was sticking out from.
The Unicorn was fast enough to evade Grims swing but soon shoved its hooves into the ground preparing a charge.
" You are not like my old master. A bad weed needs to be plucked before the roots dig to deep into the ground was a saying of my old master! " The Unicorn stated and charged.
Grim propelled himself forward and rolled out of harms reach by a very very thin margin.
As soon as he got up he had to do it over again.
This continued on for a few times before Grim steeled his resolve.
At the next charge Grim stood firm and blocked the charge with the pointy horn directly with his shield.
As soon as he felt the impact he went with the force but simultainously swung his mace at the beasts front leg.
A bone broke under the force and the Unicorn toppled over but it took Grim with it.
The horn was stuck firm inside of Grims arm as it went trough the pety shieldguard.
For now the pain was bearable and Grim thanked the game creators for the 10% damage buffer they gave this game.
It was still a heavy feeling that almost broke his concentration.
But with his next swing he broke of the horn of the beast and pummeld it until it was beyond recognition.
At its final moments it neighed painfully for a last time and it breathed its last.
" HOLY CRAP , i only got 100 life left. Even blocking the damage it still reduced my health by 1200 with a single attack. What level did that beast have? " Grim expressed his surprise.
But he couldn't check for its level anymore since it was dead but he had more urgent matters to attend to.
" This quest is a failure i guess. Hmm i guess i should log out and check how to get out of the elfen kingdom asap. " He thought out loud while munching on a loaf of bread.
Naturally this was the first course of action since in a few seconds the quest was a failure and he would receive the punishment.
" Poor Unicorn ... it was delusioned by its former master ... HA it would have made such a good partner for a bond too.... " Grim continued his rantings.
" I wish i had a good partner for a bond ... " He said out loud and the timer on his quest that he was watching dropped to zero.
* tring*
He heard the now familiar , and annoying , sound which he knew was coming but he swiped the message away since it was only a bad sign anyways.
Grim turned around and was about to leave the cavern but as he wanted to exit it into the hallway a barrier was covering it and he hit his nose hard on it.
" Holy crap , what the heck is going on? "
But a new *tring * caught his attention.
- You cannot leave without taking your partner for the bond.
" Hmmm? "
" Quest log. " Grim said and he read the notice in disbelief.
- Quest > Dawnlight Guardian < Class change , completed
You have suceded in bonding with the mythical beast > Fae Worm <
-
Since you have completed your job change you stats have permanently decreased
- 39 STR , - 27 DEX , - 44 VIT , - 24 CHA , - 16 INT , - 11 WIS.
You will never be able to recover these points and your level remains the same.
" Holy crap . " Grim muttered but another tring interrupted him.
- Bonding with a tier 11 mythical beast has increased your stats permanently by 11 and made it a permanent companion for your travels.
But first you need to let the creature hatch from its egg and gain levels.
Time remaining till it hatches 71 hours 59 mins and 37 secs.
He looked around and behind the Unicorns corpse was a egg that he was bigger then his head.
Grim held it with great care and rubbed his cheek against it but soon decided it was a bad idea.
It was kind of sticky but thanks to this buddy he only had his stat points reduced by about 20 levels of points with the 11 stats bonus per attribute.
If not for this he would have lost 161 points instead of the 103 he lost now. A difference of 12 levels worth of stat points.
Grim was humming his favourite song in real life as he held the egg and underwent the long and ardicious journey back to the surface and castle he called his home
