The next day I was sitting in my room. I couldn't believe what was happening in the world. My mom called me downstairs. I hurried down, the tv was on again. I sat down and the caption on the news stated that everything was getting worse. There were more people getting infected. My mom looked pale. "Sit down honey." My dad told her. She sat beside me and I rested my head on her shoulder.
"Mom?" I asked and waited for her response. She took a few seconds then just simply nodded for me to continue speaking. "What's gonna happen when we run out of food? What if we lose electricity because there's no one able to fix it if something happens?" I questioned. My dad answered before she got the chance to speak. "Everything will be okay sweetheart, the government got us into this and they can get us out of it. I promise. Until then we just need to learn to get along and get by. We will be okay." He reassured me. His voice was soft. He didn't seem worried at all.

"You arent afraid?" I asked my dad. "Not at all honey. After all I was trained for this by the military. I didn't serve 20 years in the Marine Corps for nothing." He replied. I looked down at my hands in my lap. I couldn't believe any of this was happening. The lady on the news told everyone to stand by for further instructions.
After the news was over I went back to my room. I just sat there staring at the walls around me. "Could this be where I spend the rest of my life?" I questioned myself. "Why did the government have to fuck up?" All these questions, but where are the answers coming from?
