Hello reader. If you're reading this, you survived. You made it through the hell that the government put us through. In case you didn't know, this is how it started:
It all started on a crisp afternoon in fall. I was raking the leaves in the yard when my mother ran outside yelling at me to come in. "Get your ass in here Aurora!" She yelled at me. "I'm coming!" I replied. I dropped the rake and ran inside. I shut the door behind me and took off my coat, hanging it carefully in the closet by the door. I slipped my boots off and met my parents in the living room. The TV was on and the news was playing. "What are we watching and why was I called inside?" I questioned. My father told me to hush. I sat down and stared at the screen. The caption read Government test failed. Stay inside at all costs. "Can someone explain what is happening?!" At this point, I was getting scared and frustrated. My mom turned around to look at me. She looked as if she was about to start crying. "Honey, the government was doing some tests on people they had in custody. They have been doing these tests for a while now. They were trying to create a weapon to inject into people for the upcoming war. The people they were running these tests on died." She paused for a moment to wipe a tear then continued. "They didn't fully die. Whatever they injected into these people has caused them to pass but it immediately caused their organs to work again almost seconds after they stopped." I looked at her confused. "So what does that mean?" I questioned again. My dad responded for my mom because she was clearly distraught. "Sweetie they are zombies. But they aren't like the ones you see in all these movies you watch. They are still real people. They didn't decay long enough. They still look the same that they did when they passed. From what the government says it is extremely hard to tell the difference between these zombies and actual people." I looked down at my hands. "So what now?" I asked. "We just need to follow government orders honey. That means we are all stuck inside for however long that may be. We have contact with everyone still so we can let family know we are safe." My mother responded after wiping more tears. "This is it. This is the beginning of the end." I thought to myself.
