I continue to just stare in front of myself in utter shock at the sight of it in front of me. I just can’t believe that it is real and I wasn’t just trapped in an infinite forest. I come to my senses and my emotion of shock turns to joy at the realization that I am finally free from this torturous life and I jump in joy.
But I soon realize that I am on a hill and come falling flat on my face, tumbling uncontrollably down the rest of the hill coming to a stop with my head taking the blunt of the momentum. I am knocked unconscious for the second time this week.

“ Hey, hey girl what are you doing here? In fact who even are you?”
I groan, opening my eyes in confusion to the stranger in front of me and groggily try to answer them, but it comes out as complete gibberish.
“Wha, u-u-um… wha?”
“ I’ll say it again, who are you and what are you doing here?!”
I regain my composure and pull myself up from the ground trying to think of a response to their question.
“Uh, um, I don’t really know who I am and I came here from the woods.”
“ Ok I’m just not going to question why you were wandering in the realm of the beasts because you are in a pretty bad shape so I’m gonna take you back to where I live and fix you up”
As I follow the person I observe them to get a better look as to who they are. They seem to be a fifteen looking young boy with brown hair and blue eyes. We continue walking through the field until finally we arrive at the village entrance.
The entrance to the village is basic and plain except an arch like structure made of metal with unrecognizable symbols engraved on it.
I decide to ask the boy about the symbols on the archway “ Hey do you know what those symbols on the archway mean?”
He replies with “ Oh the letters on the archway? Those are the name of our village, Resertway.”
“ So… do you not know how to read?”
A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
“ Well I probably did at some point but it has been so long since the last time I read anything I guess I must have forgotten at some point.”
“ Well I’m not going to pry into your past anymore because that would be rude but besides that we are here.”
I look around the village, surprised at how far we have travelled while I was talking and then turn my attention to the kid’s house and observe its design. It is a simple brick house with a roof made of shingles and a door of wood.
“ So welcome to my home!” He says while opening the door. I look inside and see a wooden floor and a couch in top of a carpet. I step inside of his house and am able to get a better look inside of his house. I see a hallway to my left with doors presumably leading to the bedrooms and bathroom.
I hear a voice from within the home call out “Remier how was your walk?”
He replies with “ Pretty normal, but along the way I found a new friend”
“ You know I told you not to talk to strangers right?”
“ But mom, she is a good person, trust me!”
Let me come take a look at her”
I hear footsteps coming from deeper within the house and a bit later a woman steps out. This woman has similar eyes to the boy and blonde hair and I would say that she is an inch or two taller than me. She looks over me with suspicion but eventually she gives out a sigh of relief and seems to approve of me.
We walk down the hallway but as I start to enter it Remier’s mother stops me.
“Now you better not do anything I wouldn’t approve of ok?”
“Oh uh ok?” I respond clumsily fumbling with my words.
I proceed down the hallway and catch back up with Remier. We reach the door to his bedroom and he opens the door.
“ After you” he says to me, how polite of him.
Once I am inside of his room he proceeds in as well and closes the door behind him. He walks over to his bed and sits on it with me just awkwardly standing there.
“ Y ou know that you can sit down too right?”
His comment causes me to scramble to a chair in the room and sit down in it.
“ So what do you want to do?”
“ Maybe could you teach me how to read and write?” I say replying to his question.
He pulls out a sheet of paper and draws symbols on it, some of them resembling the ones on the gate. When he is finished he has drawn a total of 26 symbols down on the paper.
He starts talking to me and explains the symbols on the paper and that they are sounds that are used to form words. The first symbol’s sound is “Ah” then “Beh”, “Seh”, “Deh”, “Eh” and so on and so forth. Next he gets out another piece of paper and a pencil and guides me through the various strokes that are required to form the various letters.
I practice making them, starting with letters, then moving onto words onto sentences and finally, paragraphs. I let out a tired sigh as I am exhausted from all of the work. It is getting late outside and I realize that I have nowhere to sleep.
I tell Remier about this and he converses with his mother about this and after a while, she allows me to stay the night here just for tonight. Remier opens his closet and pulls out a cot and I get in it settling down and near instantly falling asleep on the first comfortable thing since forever.
