Aniki went downstairs with her sister and went to the field to do their chores at the orphanage. The old wooden staircase creaked under her feet as she went. Today, they were given the chores to pull out all the grass and care for the plants and trees. The problem was that there was elephant grass in between normal grass, and those kinds were literally impossible to pull out. They get to work anyway, pulling out the grass and watering the trees. But just when they were joining hands to try to pull out the elephant grass, the Director of the orphanage appeared in front of them.
“You girls hurry up, you also need to do the laundry and run my errands. This should be easy and done after a few minutes,” shouted the Director.
“Hey, you thought our work was easy, and on the other hand, I thought YOURS was easy. Why don’t we switch? I shall yell at you while you do the fairly easy work with an empty stomach. Sounds fair to me.” retorted Anita.
He just glared at her and walked away, smirking, as if saying: “You have no power over me, kid. Ha-ha-ha.”
She picked up a clump of dried dirt to throw at his face, but her sister held Anita’s hand back.
“No breakfast is bad enough, sis. You won’t want to miss your lunch.”
“It doesn’t matter, we’re breaking out of this torture center so no one can control us again. I’m tired of waiting for the war to cease. If there's no luck for us, we’ll create them ourselves, ” Anita snapped furiously.

“Let’s talk about it tonight, okay?” Aniki tried to calm her sister down but that wasn’t really necessary as Anita was pulling out the elephant grass thanks to the rage alone.
That night, the two sisters sat in their room, listening to the rain pattering outside and occasional thunder booming outside the dingy window. Specks of rain flew all over the room through the cracks in the window, and snuffed out the already-flickering candle. The room went dark completely.
“Hey, the storm is pretty serious, you know,” said Aniki, having come down to her sister’s bed.
“And that’s why this is the perfect time to escape. Pack up some supplies.” said Anita with a totally serious look on her face, leaping down from her bed. “Do you expect to rot here just waiting for the war to die out? We’ll take matters into our own hands.”
“What, that is definitely not sensible, we could get struck by lightning, catch a cold or worst of all, we can get caught and never have a chance of escaping again” yelled Aniki, thinking her sister was crazy and grabbed her hands.
“Oh come on, what are the chances that we get struck by lightning. Besides, nobody will be out in the rain at this hour” exclaimed Anita as she pulled her hand out of her sister’s.
She held the door and shouted over the bellowing rain to her sister: “Come on, sis!”
After a moment of hesitation, Aniki made up her mind.
Their roommates stared unbelievably at the twin as they ran out together into the darkness and the door slammed shut behind them, leaving the room silent in bewilderment, apart from the distant thunder of the rain.
