Von still in the chair next to the table starts to look at all the objects on the table. First he notices all the small gears and metallic components on this table. Eden looks back at Von and tells him theses components are used to make mechanical artifacts. Eden then hands Von a blueprint and tells him to read it. Von reads the blueprints and notice instantly that it was a blueprint on how to build a toy fan. Von starts grabbing all the parts need to build the toy fan which included a propeller, a motor with a small mana crystal, and stand to keep it in place.

Ding!

Learned How to make Toy Fan.

Toy Fan has been added to artifact list.

Eden gave Von about 50 different blueprints of toys to read and make. Von wanted to ask why, but at the same time felt it was a good experience to understand the basic mechanics before he tried to build his own creations in royal road. Every once in a while when he would be creating toys Von would see his Dexterity, Artifacting, and Handicraft skills increase making his fingers move slightly faster and more precise then before. After 10 hours of continuously making toys and reading blueprints Von finished.

Ding!

Your Learned Blueprint skill.

Von went up to Eden who was working at his own desk and told him that he was done with the 50 toys and has obtained a skill called blueprint.

Eden: "Good job, child. I can now start to teach you how to make artifacts from magic alone. The main requirement for making a pure magical artifact is having the blueprint skill and artifact mastery."

Von: "Why would you need the blueprint skill to make an artifact out of magic?" said Von as he was thinking anyone could just pour mana into a blueprint and make an artifact then."

Eden chuckled and said "You do not create a physical blueprint but a mental blueprint child." Eden then told Von to close his eyes and think of the toy fan blueprint in his mind.

Von sits down closes his eyes and imagines the toy fan and to his surprise he can see the many details of the fan in his mind, but what shocked him the most was the mana cost to make the fan was 600 mana, much more then he had at the time. Thinking of a way to decrease the mana cost he made the toy fan smaller and decreased the power output of the mana crystal to make it cost only half of its original mana cost. Then he saw his mana drain as he created the small toy fan with his mana. Von thought that magical artifacting was a great way to create parts needed for artifacting, but impossible to currently use to make actual artifacts.

Eden: "not bad, child. It seems you realized that even with the skills, if you don't have enough mana you can always adjust your artifact to meet your limits There are many ways to decrease the mana cost such as leveling up the Magical Artifacting, Blueprint, and Artifacting skills." said Eden as if speaking from the many hurdles he himself had experienced.

Looking at Eden a little confused Von said: "I do not have the magical artifacting skill, so how do I level it up."

Chuckling a little at what Von had asked, Eden responds to Von's question by telling him that he will not obtain any of the main artifacting skills till the training is done, and had obtained the blueprint skill because it was necessary for the second phase of the training. Later, Eden told Von to get some rest, and that they could start on the third phase when he returned. The reason Eden did not ask him to make more magical artifacts was because Von did not have enough mana to make any of the others toys that required the magic crystals to have a certain power output.

Von logged out, stretched his body, and hurried to the kitchen to get something quick to eat. Looking for something good and easy to make he looked in the freezer and picked up a frozen pizza and placed it in the microwave to eat. Zeth (his real name) placed some crushed red peppers on the pizza and ate all of it in 30 minutes before return to his room to play some more Royal Road. When Von was back in Royal Road he made some fresh carrot soup for his avatar to eat and went to get back to work.

Eden noticing Von being back and rested decided to begin the third phase of the training by grabbing a bag and a blade that looked like a pen from his desk and taking it to where Von was.

"Rested already, child?" said Eden as if to confirm whether Von was ready to take on the third phase of the training.

Von responds to Eden with a smile.

Eden tossed the pen that has a sharp knife like point and a bag full of common gems on to the table Von was siting at and starts to explain how Crystal Artifacting works. First thing about Crystal Artifacting is that it never works well alone. Crystal Artifacting is used to make a power source for your artifacts or a container of sorts. An example of a power source is the mana crystal that you used in the toy fan to power its motor. That mana crystal in the toy fan is weak and can only power a toy fan because it is made of regular glass. The better the quality, shape, and size of the crystal the more mana output can be gained from the crystal. The second method to use crystals is less common but still used is as a container. A container is used mostly to make living artifacts, as the core of a living artifact needs to be a container to hold the soul that is to be brought to life.

Eden: "Understand, child" asked Eden to see if he could go on and actually begin teaching the method of using crystal artifacting.

Von: "hmm, I understand but can't you use anything as a mana crystal since everything has mana inside of it." asked Von as if wondering why only crystals are used to make mana crystals.

Eden: "You see, many people wondered the same thing at first but quite easily realized why crystals are mainly used to make mana crystals. You see unlike other objects such as rocks, copper, iron, silver, or gold; crystals absorb outside mana much faster and once mana is completely drained from them they only take a day or two to recharge while any of the other sources would take years to get back to the state they were in before being used. The main reason enchanters love to enchant jewels is because of this very fact. Enchanting something that can sustain a good buff, also known as a permanent buff is much easier with gems and crystals then just enchanting a sword." said Eden as if he wondered the same thing at one point in his life and was glad to be asked about it.

Von: "hmm, is there any difference between gems and crystals?" asked Von cause the terms seemed to used as if describing the same thing.

Eden: "the difference between a gem and a crystal is that gems are found in mines and are only naturally created, while crystal can be found in caves, but can also be created using sand. The great thing about crystals is that when creating a crystal from sand, you can place sand on the heart of an animal to make a heart crystal. A Heart Crystal have the properties of a glass crystal, but also obtain special properties based on heart used. Well you do need crystal artifacting to be intermediate level to make Heart Crystal but still the power of Heart Crystals can be leaps and bounds better them gems if the right heart is used to make them." said Eden while getting ready to teach the process of using common gems and crystals to make Mana Crystals.

Eden got another pen knife out of his back pocket and started to explain that in order to turn a gem or crystal into a Mana Crystal is the same process. First you pour mana into the pen knife which lets you change the shape of knife to your needs and you write the infinity symbol with mana onto the gem or crystal. Once that is done wait an hour to see if it changes its shape into a Mana Crystal. The reason why the infinity symbol is used is cause normally mana flows in and out of objects and never stays inside the crystal for very long. The infinity symbol lets the maximum amount of mana that the crystal can hold cycle inside of it before releasing any extra mana back out of it. When the gems or crystals have enough mana inside them they transform into the Mana Crystal that you see before you. Eden then told Von to practice using the pen knife with the bag full of common gems and crystals.

Every half hour Von would meditate to try to regain his mana faster. Eden would look at Von every once in a while to check the progress and quality of the mana crystals that Von had made and give pointers when Von made mistakes. Von finished making all the gems and crystals given to him into mana crystals and Eden told him to take a rest because Von had been working on them for twelve hours with almost no breaks. Von then went to the bed in the workshop and logged out. Noticing that it was almost 10' o'clock at night. Zeth went to the kitchen and saw his sister Steph getting ready to eat dinner. Zeth asked “What she wanted to eat since his been cooking for his family ever since the beginning of middle school.” Steph told Zeth that “She wanted to eat pasta.”

Which reminded him of the reason he started to cook for his family. There are many reason Zeth took up cooking, and experimentation was not one of them. Zeth still remembers the days when Steph would cook and the memory haunts his thoughts on how in the world can someone put dish washing soap to make pasta; let's just say that Steph was not the best cook in the world. She did have her reason for putting soap in the pasta, as she claimed that she was washing it so the pasta would be clean before it was cooked. Zeth quickly got two pots one to for the pasta, and the second for the pasta sauce and started cooking. Finished making the pasta in 30 minutes. When they were eating they talked about Royal Road and how each of the training centers differ for each class. Some of Steph's examples were a warrior hitting a scarecrow, archer shooting at a target, Mages using magic for various applications, and a thief pick pocketing others. Each of the classes had meet some requirement to pass the training and most of it took a long time. After dinner Zeth washed the dishes and went to sleep.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

When Zeth woke up he took a shower got ready and made breakfast. Knowing that his sister liked to wake up late he left a note on a plate with food in it for her and went to his room to play some more Royal Road.

When Von woke up in Eden's workshop he noticed the sleeping Gnome at his desk and wondered if he should wake Eden or not; before he even got the chance to decide Eden woke up on his own and look at Von noticing he just got back.

Eden: "Seems like you got enough sleep this time do you want to go to the next stage of your training?" said Eden as rubbed his eyes to wake himself up from his nap.

Von: "I think I am ready for the next stage of my training". said Von as he thought he understood the basics of what crystal artifacting was.

Eden then began the subject of life artifacting. Eden told Von that every living and some non living things have a soul. A soul also needs a vassal and the better the soul is the better the vassal needs to be. If a very strong soul was inside of a weak vassal, the vassal would eventually deteriorate making the soul lose its body. Also, a weak soul inside a strong vassal have similar consequences, but instead of the vassal being destroyed the soul is destroyed. To make sure the soul does not get destroyed the technique known as soul fusion is used to combine souls and make a stronger soul. The new soul would have all the information of all the souls combined into it, and the personality of the soul you chose as the main for the fusion. Soul fusion can also weaken a soul if the wrong combination is made such as two opposite Elementals (such as Fire/Water) or being that just hate each other like Werewolves and Vampires.

After explaining everything about soul fusion Eden grabbed a bunch of crystals with a small spark in the center of them and handed them to Von, and said these are Soul Crystals and told Von how to make them. The process was just like making a Mana Crystal, but instead of a infinity symbol, a pentagram was craved in the center of the crystal. Eden said that when you defeat a monster, quickly put soul crystal over their body you can capture a soul into the crystal. Eden also mentioned that since I have a skill call Soul Drain I do not have to do that part and just put the soul into the soul crystal using my soul list ability.

Eden told Von to soul fuse all the crystals he gave to Von. The process was actually quite easy when Von placed his hand on two soul crystals he would get details on the souls and was asked which one he would want as the main soul. When the two souls fused the main crystal's spark would glow a little brighter, while the secondary crystal would lose all of its spark. Von combined all the Soul Crystals in till he had one glowing crystal in the end.

When Von finished he showed the Soul Crystal to Eden. Eden then explained that when the brightness of the soul crystal reaches this stage you have about 24 hours to transfer the soul to a better container before the soul crystal explodes. The transfer process is easy, and is the same as a soul fusion but instead of having two soul crystal you use an empty container that is better than the current container. Von followed Eden's advice as Eden gave Von a higher grade container to transfer the soul into.

Eden walks up to Von when they finished and told him there is only one last thing left for him to teach him. Von thinking since it's the last part it might be the hardest, but soon finds out its just the opposite. Eden tells Von about how dimensional artifacting works. Dimensional artifacting requires a core with a lot of energy that can be used as the center for creating the dimension. The core is a Soul Crystal. A soul is known to have more energy than most people can imagine, and the stronger the soul crystal used the bigger the dimension that can be created. Eden takes out a pair of gloves and gives them to Von. Von was about to put them on, but was stopped by Eden and told to insert the soul crystal in the center of the left glove.

Von inserted the soul crystal into his left glove and then wore the gloves. When Von wore the gloves he saw a 5X5 foot cube space inside his mind. Eden told him that the Soul Crystal inserted into the gloves had enough energy for a 5X5 space and he only has to touch an object to insert it into the gloves dimension or think of it to get it out of the dimension.

Eden: "Guess that is all that I can teach you child for all the secrets of artifacts is what makes us who we are" said Eden as if he was ready to get rid of Von and get back to his own research on artifacting.

Von was so happy when he saw all the new skills he had learned, and could not wait to experiment more with the skills that Eden had taught him.

Just as Von was about to leave Eden handed him 5 crystals, 5 common gems, and the gloves to take with him as a gift from master to apprentice. Then Von placed everything in his inventory and equipped the gloves hugging Eden and saying goodbye so he could begin his journey.

Eden watched as Von was leaving his workshop, and felt a little sad even though Eden like any other gnomes hated teaching others there secrets; Eden felt joy at having such a great and hard working apprentice.

As Von left Eden's work shop to begin his journey and find items that would be able to be used as better Mana Crystals. Since Eden told him that Crystals could be made out of glass he wanted to obtain as much and as pure sand as possible. The best way to get sand was either find a monster that dropped sand or head to a desert which would have a ton of sand to try with. So decided to start his journey to look for sand to have enough supplies to make as many trinkets as he wants.
