You thought the story was over? Well jokes on you!!

This is currently marking the end of Volume 0 of The Archon’s Mark. That is correct, this was simply the prologue to the main story!

I started this as I wanted to put something fresh on Royal Road. I believe the time spent writing this volume has made my writing stronger, I have learned more about story and chapter structure, and pacing.

I had already written most of Volume 1, However I will be going back to make some major changes and rewrites, using my newly obtained skills.

Now that Volume 0 is over, I will be going on hiatus. I know that I can continue from here, but for my goal to reach rising stars I must have a lot of chapters that I post frequently. I posted these chapters as I wrote them, I realise now that was a mistake for the algorithm. So I shall generate a backlog and then begin posting.

But don’t worry. If you’re REALLY itching to read the new chapters, I think I might start working on my patreon. Yep, I’m finally launching that too! Having a large backlog will assist me with running the Patreon, so I myself will be on a break from Royal Road as I generate these new chapters.

I’m adding onto this later, before writing the epilogue and after completing chapter 0.99. This story was initially planned to be roughly 100-150 chapters. I realise now, if not planned exquisitely I will end up going over that very quickly. I think my desire now is to finish the story in its entirety, that means every single intended volume, before I attempt publication anywhere. That doesn’t include Patreon, but it does include royal road

In all likelihood I will do a reupload in its entirety, merging this, vol 0 with the rest of the novel. It’s very apparent that to go viral I need to post a lot, maybe even daily. My current pace is 10 chapters a week if i estimate, so to reach that backlog will take many months.

But I think I can do it.

The headache of editing whilst posting definitely slows me down, I think. It would be much better to have a working novel, then post it.

One day I would like to merge every volume into one giant supervolume. I think that would be pretty epic, just one book of god knows how many thousand pages. Maybe a great idea for a special edition?

I’m back, after finishing the epilogue.

Well, that’s it. Volume 0 is done, dusted, gone and done. This is the first novel I’ve ever actually finished writing in my entire life. Total comes to 56098 words as of 28/04/2024.

I didn’t expect myself to be so emotional closing this story. I’m very satisfied with this ending.

There was meant to be an epilogue for Yuuki here, and for the village of Sun Helm as a whole. I feel like I've already covered that though, but maybe I will come back and add something in for Yuuki.

Right now though, I need a break.
