The overhead sun is nearing the horizon as Royce takes his first step to becoming a full fledged adventurer

“Alright just need to put some mana into this thing and let’s get started”

He pours a little mana as the ID light up and project forward a little screen with various available jobs

“Info… Party… Jobs… there we go… Huh… It’s all still collection quests…”

Royce scroll down a bit to see more underwhelming quests

He sighs and walks towards Tori

“Man, I really wanted to hunt some monsters…”

As he reaches Tori and Thor they both ask what happened

He explains that he wanted to hunt some monsters but can’t since there are no available monster hunting jobs at his current rank

Thor explains that monster hunting quests are only available for adventurers D rank or above since without any assessed combat abilities it’s hard to send someone off into a group of monsters

Royce clearly disheartened by this sit down next to tori

Tori looks at him and tries to cheer him up

“Hey all you need is a complete a few quest and take the D rank exam”

“Then you continue rising through these ranks easily, and who knows you can even beat old Thor to become an S rank”

Thor laughs and pats Royce on the back

“I’ll be waiting for that day, kid!”

Royce smiles and replies while looking at the available jobs

“Alright then… I’ll make sure you won’t have to wait for long”

He opens the quest board and looks through the list

“Sap of the Elador tree, huh?... Sounds easy enough… I’ll just use insight to search for these”

“Alright then…”

Collect 50 berries from an Elador tree

Note: Need Elador berries delivered to guild or the SpellShore store as soon as possible

“Let’s go now… I’ll finish this quickly and return before Sunset”

Royce looks at Tori and asks her

“Master…? Uhh… Where can I find the Elador Trees…?”

Tori looks at Royce and sighs

“Of course you chose the hardest fetch job”

“The Elador trees grow in the southern Parth forest area as well as in the elven kingdom of Eladorion”

“Though it’s hard to reach the Eladorion kingdom the southern forest is a decent place with a few trees here and there”

“It should be easy if you go to a high place and use Insight on the entire forest… and that way you can practice your filter sub-ability on Insight”

Royce nods and gets up to leave

Thor reaches for his pocket before stopping him

“Hey kid! Wait… take this with you… it isn’t much but if something bad happens, god forbid, this neckless will inform me”

Royce smiles and puts it on

“Thanks Thor”

Thor waves as Royce leaves for the Southern forest of Parth

As Royce leaves the city the grass slowly gets more dense and shrubs and bushes starts to appear

“I should’ve started to look for a higher place earlier… well… worst comes to worst I could just climb a tree”

Royce starts sprinting as he reaches the first of many trees in the forest

“Now…Insight.”

His vision fills with multiple tabs blocking everything in front

Royce stops in his tracks to look up only to find a few berries at the very top of the tree

“The fuck? Are there ususally this little berries on a tree this big?”

“Well… One good thing is I won’t need to climb up a tree to find this… sad thing is I have to find the other trees to complete this quest…”

Royce climbs up the Elador tree to reach the berries

“Alright now…2…3…5…7…11…13…17…”

“Damn… there’s only 30 here…”

He sighs and looks around to find some more on the tree

“Man do I really have to find another tree?... the sun’s about to set as well”

“Fuck it…”

Royce jumps from one tree to another to find a tall place to search

“It’s more tiring than I thought… fuckk… is there really no other tree nearby?”

“That looks like a tall tree… let’s get there and see if there’s any more of these fucking berries”

Royce gets to the tall darkwood and sees an opening in the distance

“Is that a pond there?... weird to see an opening in the middle of a forest this dense”

“Anyway… I have a few berries already”

“All I should need to do is look put a filter on insight for these berries and it should show me where they are”

Royce thinly spreads his mana out of his body to locate the berries

“Is it not the season?... why are there no berries?”

“There’s like 3 trees in my search area right now…”

“4 trees and 2 berries?... what the fuck?”

Suddenly an area with a huge amount of berries comes into the search area

“The fuck? A hundred…? Hundred fifty? Holy shit two hundred and fifty, so that’s where those berries went?... Damn”

“It’s near that opening too”

Royce jumps from one tree to another running towards the opening

“How the fuck did they get there?... was someone else on that quest too?... It shouldn’t be listed if that was the case ig…”

“Anyway we’ll find out one we reach the-”

Royce’s thoughts get interrupted by a loud roar followed by trees crashing

Weary about the trees falling he jumps off and starts moving quietly towards the source of the noise

“Monsters? At this time?”

Royce slows down as he reaches close to the source of the voice

“Why the fuck am I running towards this shit?!”

“Should I turn back and run?”

Suddenly a sharp scream reaches his ears

“What the?! Is someone there?”

“Well… there’s the reason I was looking for-”

Royce reaches the opening to see a giant black bear with yellow mane and runes running throughout it’s spine standing in front of a girl about the same age as him

The bear roars once again intimidating the girl making her fall back, her basket topples over spilling all the berries on the ground, The bear puts up his paw to attack

Royce puts all his strength into his legs moving at breakneck speed

Grabbing the girl as well as the attention of the giant bear, still in his arms he asks the girl

“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING ALL ALONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS FUCKING FOREST?!”

“DO YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT THE MONSTERS?!”

The girl clearly scared replies while crying

“I- I- just wanted to collect berries for m-my f-”

Suddenly everything slows down as the window pops up

Royce turns around to see the bears paw inches away from him

He runs away and grabs the girl to the top of a tree trying to hide from the monstrous bear

He whispers slowly in the girls ear

“Don’t worry, I’ll get you out of here safely. You just have to believe me okay?”

The girl nods wiping off her tears

While the bear looks around putting his nose up to smell where they went and in no time he locks on to the tree they are on and rushes towards it

Royce picks the girl up and throws her in front of the bear as she yells at the top of her lung

“NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!”

As he jumps off to another tree in the distance.
