Mackenzie was in bed tossing and turning she couldn't sleep. She looked at her tablet which is on a charger and it says it's 11:30 PM

i haven't been asleep for half an hour! Mackenzie thought, It felt like a fucking hour went by! Maybe I should go for a walk!

Mackenzie got out of bed and got dressed and walked around a bit mostly in the living quarters and went back to sleep where she slept like a baby.

In the morning it's 8:00 AM

"Good morning honey did you sleep well?" Asked Mackenzie's father

Mackenzie father then noticed that the security room was empty so he just thought she came in early and started work early and is roaming around.

Earlier

Mackenzie went into the security room and opened the lock room and she was like a child in a candy store because the room has a lot of American weapons from 1940-1970.

Mackenzie wanted to travel light so she just grabbed the Military Reconnaissance Unit .45 pistol which has seven rounds and she grabbed seven additional magazines.

She also grabbed a pump-action shotgun which has eight shells in it and twenty-eight in reserve. She also took some medkits and healing supplies.

She also took a M3 fighting knife and set out and left the underground public Fallout shelter.

It was sunrise but she saw destroyed 1950's and 1960's American cars and burnt trees and dried soil.

Mackenzie walked East but she held the shotgun one handed but she thought she would've seen life or something by now.

After a hour passed she walked two miles and saw a sign that said "WELCOME TO KILLEN POP 1034 EST 1957"

There was a wall.

"Hey who are you?" Asked a man holding a 5.56 assault rifle

Mackenzie replied, "My name is Mackenzie. I'm just out exploring!"

The man opened up the gate.

"Keep your gun holstered and don't start any trouble!" Said the man

Mackenzie walked in and kept the pistol and shotgun holstered.

They must've have a water chip around here or sell one, Mackenzie thought, Well I better ask around.

Mackenzie then walked into a trading store.

"Excuse me sir?" Asked Mackenzie, "Do you have a water chip?"

The trader replied, "Yeah I do. It ain't cheap either! It cost Three thousand USD or Three thousand caps!"

"I can't afford that!" Said Mackenzie, "Is there another way I can pay for it?"

The trader replied, "Yeah their is!"

"I maybe a woman," said Mackenzie, "But I don't freely show my boobs, ass and vagina! I'm not that type of woman!"

The trader replied, "I was going to say I have a trade caravan going to New Florance. You act as a guard for the round trip and when you get back I'll give it to you because you would've worked it off. Also you'll get paid hazard pay!"

"Hazard pay?" Asked Mackenzie

The trader replied, "Oh almost forgot to tell you that Raiders occupy the main route. The other two routes have giant spiders and other big nasty insects such as giant spiders. Oh avoid tunnels and caves where the big nasty insects live. I've seen it first hand of my first girlfriend went to go clear them out and I found her all webbed up revealed to be in critical condition from spiders nesting under her skin, until she fell to the floor, and her entire torso explodes with thousands of spiders crawling out of her corpse. So good luck,"

Oh fuck that! Mackenzie thought, Fuck these giant insects! And definitely fuck those giant spiders!

"When does the caravan leave?" Asked Mackenzie after gulping

The trader told her that they'll be leaving in a few minutes.

Mackenzie then joined the caravan and the town looked somewhat ruined but also pristined but she walked with the caravan.

It was a long walk but they weren't attacked by raiders or any other group of people who murder, pillage and do other evil things.

They kept on shooting but when they reached New Florance to Mackenzie it looked like a warzone because before the nuclear Holocaust the city had anti-war riots which required the total of 4,000 police, 3,000 State Police, 5000 National Guardsmen, and 7,000 U.S Army soldiers. 30 people died and it costed $30,000,000 in damages.

Also, Mackenzie doesn't know that when the Atom bombs and nuclear missiles dropped. The police and military tried to keep calm and law and order but it was all for naught as time went on. She doesn't know that some cops and soldiers kept to preserve law and order while others just roamed the streets and became the first packs of raiders just killing whoever and pillaging and raping not adding they also betrayed their own fellow officers and fellow soldiers.

"So where are we going?" Asked Mackenzie

The caravanner replied, "To the ruins of UNA. People turned it into a settlement that's the offspring of the pre-war students and staff,"

They continued but they got shot at so they took cover behind ruined military vehicles and fired back. But the gunfire was intense that the caravan and the three guards were killed.

Mackenzie ran over to a dead caravan guard and picked up his M14 Battle Rifle and fired it but she was in better cover where she could shoot at them but they couldn't hit her.

Mackenzie was able to kill the people or mutants in the building that opened fire on them. She took a military harness and eight ammo pouches and placed magazines for her rifle in them. She also took what she could carry and gave them to the settlers in the ruins of the university.

Mackenzie had a long walk back to the town of Killen and told the trader that she delivered the stuff but the rest of the caravan was killed.

The trader as promised gave her the water chip and she headed back to the underground Fallout shelter she came from and gave it to the engineers and they fixed it.

They weren't expecting her coming back so soon where they had 150 days of drinking water left but now they have an indefinite supply of water until it breaks down again.

In the library

Mackenzie was typing up the report on what happened out their not adding she mentioned settlements that are out their with people just surviving day to day and she didn't forget to mention raiders and other people who love to kill, pillage, and rape.

She also uploaded it but she decided to do some research on her family and learned that her great-great-grandfather was a US Marine during the war against the Third Reich from 1960-1979. He had a spot in the public Fallout shelter but the catch was he and his girlfriend couldn't be together because the company would've have to give her a 'Spousal exemption' so he did the noble thing and that was he gave up his spot for her to gain entrance.

Mackenzie then walked around for a bit before the leader pulled her aside and her report startled him that they're savages out their and they pose a danger to them. He told Mackenzie that she has to deal with it.

I was just out their and nearly died! Mackenzie thought, Now I got to go out their and deal with another problem I can't even deal with! Oh fuck my life! I was almost killed to get a fucking water chip and nearly got killed by raiders!
