Twenty years had come and gone from the time the world came to an end. During the first two years life continued on much like normal for most average people. They are all willingly ignorant of the fact that there were now people who were more or less immortal walking around like the average joe except for the fact that they hunted monsters like life was a video game and farmed gold, jewels, items, and skills. When it was no longer possible to remain ignorant then what came to be known as the great scramble started for another three years. Every last person rushed to become an immortal player as they came to be called. After 50% of the global population became players then the non-human races began to appear through enormous one way Gates that connected to their planets.
It was then that humanity realized just how small of a frog they were and just how big and deep the well was. Strength became quantified by numbers and levels became the standard measurement, but that was never synonymous that those at the same level were equal. Death now resulted in a level reduction and stat point loss. The next five years consisted of hunting and obtaining strength as fast as possible, and guilds began to wage war. After a full ten years had passed then the next ten years called the consolidation began. For eight years it slowly became the norm to fight day and night in order to not fall behind and be considered the weak link.

Dungeons were packed day and night by relentless players. The descent of what became known as world bosses took the pride that players had built up over eighteen years and shattered it. Even according to the otherworldly races the strength that humans now had was a little above average for a world at the initialization stage but the world bosses were all deemed as ridiculous existences by nearly everyone in the wider multiverse and only 1 out of 100 worlds that went through the initialization had to suffer it. For two years humanity got their asses beat by them. Then the unthinkable happened. The chance to start over appeared.
It was called the Reset Obelisque. It would allow you to be sent back to level 1 with all ailments, curses, skills, abilities, powers, and statuses removed. But it also allowed one other option, True Death. If you chose to reset you would essentially be a normal human again, and it had been proven that only those below level 10 could have children. It was said that that was because level 10 was when your body stopped being judged by ‘normal human’ standards. This is where our story shall begin.
