"Tell me, would you believe me if I told you that I have meet an Angel?
And that by some twist of Fate, I was sent to another world?
Honestly, I would not blame you if you did not believe me.
Heh, even more if you're from...
Whatever this world is called.
I am sure that to you, Angels are not even fairytales, just the ramblings of a crazed idiot.
But then again, if you are reading this, then you very likely know who I am.
And well, the fact that I a mere infant is writing this, should be proof enough that I am not lying.
Or are you going to seriously tell me that babies on this world, actually learn to write and create their own languages on this world?
I doubt it.
Ugh.
Why I was writing this on the first place?
Ah, forgive me, my mind is a bit disperse.
Since my reincarnation, is getting a bit hard to keep my thoughts stable, in fact that was one of the reasons why I even begun to use this diary on the first place.
I needed a place to store out my thoughts, you know what I mean?
Anyway, I do not want to waste anymore space, so let us begin.
I meet an Angel, back when I was still on 'earth', a place that now seems quite distant, quite foreign.
As for the Angel itself?
Well, it looked quite odd, I would not describe them as your typical eldritch beings you would see on the bible, but they're also not like the gorgeous entities you would see on paintings.
They were more like...Something that was not supposed to be there.
A shadow, a projection of something greater.
A shadow that seemed to fluctuate between existence and inexistence, a creature that looked so faint, so invisible that I was not sure, if it was even real.
The shadow stood at the corner of the room.
Initially, I grew curious about that shadow, that seemed to project something, but no matter where and how I looked, there did not seem to be any source that produced it.
As the days passed, I even curious enough to attempt something.
I used a flashlight, and I pointed with it at the shadow.
Which flickered for a brief instant, before returning back to normalcy.
It was very unsettling.
Of course, I never revealed this to anyone.
Most likely, they would believe I had grown insane, and I can even begin to imagine how some people on my family would laugh at me, for getting afraid of a mere shadow.
Having said this, I did not ignore it's existence entirely, I simply begun to investigate.
I tried to find through many books, and sources, trying to find a way to explain this, maybe I was hallucinating, because I was not breathing correctly due to my lung's cancer?
Was it because I was not sleeping properly?
Or was something else?
To be honest, even though I know it sounds crazy...
A part of me desired that the creature was real, that there was truly a world beyond my imagination.
At some point, I stopped looking for the answer, I simply accepted it's presence, as if it was something normal.
However, as I began to get used to it's presence, the Shadow began to reveal more unusual things.
The shadow was beginning to become less 'ethereal', I began to see an strange, barely perceptible dark-purple color, whilst the wings of the Angel began to get more and more shape.
I felt as if I was seeing a bidimensional being, transitioning to a third dimensional being.
In one of the many times I saw the shadow, it smiled at me.
When I looked at the shadow again, the shadow had lost it's smile.
The days kept passing on the blink of an eye, even though I was curious about the origin of that Shadow, what was truly bothering me, was my growing condition.
I began to feel more tired, and my dreams began to become strange.
Dreams where there was nothing but static, and where I saw that blurry shadow in front of my eyes.
It was whispering something to me.
I was not able to decipher what it said at first, however the more I approached, the more I paid attention to them, the more those words began to make sense.
Until, one day I was able to hear how the creature presented itself as an Angel.
'I have never been a religious man, so why would an Angel appear before me?
Did you come here, just to say that I am going to hell?
Or is this just an attempt of my mind, to make me embrace death without any regrets?'
I asked, however the creature kept talking, ignoring my words.
The Angel began to tell me many prophecies, though, his prophecies were not about anything 'big', but merely about some trivial events.
For example, 'A nurse will arrive to your room, 15 minutes after you wake up, then she will trip and fall over a table.'
That...Could not be real, right?
That is what my mind said, however I honestly wanted it to be truth.
Because if it was truth, then, other supernatural things may as well be.
If science cannot help me, what if I rely on the spiritual?
Of course, on the past I would have never done something so foolish, but can you truly call those beliefs nonsensical, when the proof is right in front of your eyes?
Maybe I could borrow that creature's power for my own sake.
And thus, remembered deeply each of those words, and I saw with awe, as each prophecy was fulfilled.
At this point, the Angel revealed itself more openly, the shadow was far more solid-like, I felt as if I could almost touch it.
I received more and more prophecies, that grew in magnitude, eventually it began to foresee what patients would survive and whom would die, as well as their cause of death.
With every prophecy I received, I became increasingly more convinced, that I was not dealing with something ordinary.
Perhaps, I was dealing with something that surpass everything else, like a demigod.
But...Why was such kind of creature paying attention to me?
There was another question I wished to make too.
Eventually I dared to ask.
'Will I recover? Who are you, are you an Angel? A Demon, The Reaper?'
The shadow smiled at me.
'I am an Angel of course, what else could I be?
Of course, I am not the type of Angel you may think.
I am the one who guides souls, towards the light, I guide them towards their next reincarnation.
As for your other question?
Who knows, is hard to say even for me.
Before you meet me, your death may have been set in stone, because you were unaware of the strings of Fate and casualty, but after our many meetings, you have already diverged from that path, you have a slim hope of avoiding that outcome.
However, I would not bet on it.
Fate or not, your body is already beyond natural recovery, that I can assure you.
The only way you could save yourself would be with a miracle, cosmic radiation that hit exactly the right parts of your body, that somehow you discovered a cure for cancer, or that you delved with forbidden knowledge.
Tell me, how likely would it be for that to happen?'
Immediately, I could not help but ask.
'Forbidden knowledge...I got the gut feeling that maybe you do have such knowledge.
So, could you help me?
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
You must surely know a way to save me, right?'
The Angel shook their head.
'I cannot do that, if you have not noticed yet, I have no shape, no form, no matter, I cannot affect the living.
To do so, I would require a medium, of a willing host.
Currently, the only one willing to do so would be you.
So, do tell me, are you willing to lend me your body?'
Naturally, I said no.
Only an idiot would trust the words of such a being.
Indeed, just a few seconds later, I heard a small sigh, of that creature.
'Then...Why are you even here?
Is because I am about to die?
Then, have you appeared before others too?
In that case, why I have never heard of you, even if 99.99% of people are like me, and never dare to share this secret, I am sure, that sooner or later, someone would have spilled the beans.
When that happened, more confessions would come, eventually your existence would have become common knowledge.
So, if you do not appear before everyone, why have you appeared before me?'
The Angel tilted their head on mild amusement.
'You are quite the expert on compound questions, are you?' It shrugged.
'How would I say this?
You have a special 'something', a quality that is perfect for a certain purpose I do have.'
Each and every single of my red flags was triggered by this, I frowned.
'What is that quality, exactly?
And what are you planning to do with me?
Eat my soul?'
...
The Angel smiled.
'I have no intention of eating your soul, but I do have some other purpose on another world.'
...
'Another world?' I asked, mildly intrigued.
'Is that like one of those stories where gods reincarnate people on other dimensions?'
For a certain divine purpose?'
The Angel chuckled
'You could say so.'
I narrowed my eyes.
'Even if you do say this, what proof do you have?
For all I know, once I follow you, I will enter right into your stomach.'
The Angel shrugged again.
'Do you want proof?
But, even if I were to gave you that proof, would you even believe it?
The more I attempt to justify my actions, the more suspicious you will grow about any ulterior motives I have, that is human nature.'
I looked right into the Angel's eyes.
'You just keep avoiding my question, moreover, I do not even know where are you trying to send me?'
The Angel smirked.
'mmm, I assume you are quite familiar with such a world, a world about immortal beings, a world of Cultivators.
A very intriguing world, would you not agree?'
I grimaced upon hearing those words.
"Really? Why would I even join to that world?''
The Angel smirked.
'Do you have another choice?
As I said before, your chances of avoiding Fate, are quite low.
To survive, you require my help.
Leaving that aside, are you not curious?
How did evolution came to be on the first place?
What kind of unique cultures you may see?
What kind of foods, what kind of landscapes?
What kind of adventures and experiences you may have?
Can you really say you are not interested in my offer?
Even if we do leave that aside, tell me are you satisfied to die like this?
Satisfied with your body?
Satisfied with your Fate?
Do you not desire a second chance to undo all your regrets?
I guarantee you, if you accept my proposal, I will ensure your rebirth.
That rebirth will be perfect.
I will ensure you are born wealthy, powerful and healthy.
I can even provide you with my blessing if you really want to...'
The more the Angel tried to convince, the more suspicious I grew.
'Who are you trying to fool?
As I said before, you have no proof to sustain your words!
Even your prophecies could have been self-fulfilled!
How?
With your powers, maybe you can kill and heal others at will, and after the fact you pretend as if you had seen the future.'
The Angel revealed various white teeth it smiled very widely.
'If I had such power, do you really think I would be speaking with you right now?'
The Angel stopped smiling.
'You do not have to make a decision right now, I will be waiting.
However, I want you to remember one thing.
When your time finally comes, if you want my help, just think about me.
Pray to me, then I will come.
Or you can reject me, and wait until your body and mind fades.
The choice, is yours.'
Never again, I saw the Angel, at least not before that day.
Honestly, I felt quite mixed back then, obviously I did not want a demigod turning me into his unwitting pawn, however I also did not want to die.
In the end, my stubbornness won.
'I will never pray to him' I thought back then.
Heh...
I truly did no know what I saw saying.
The moment, after I died was painful.
But what came afterwards was far worse.
I felt how my soul was slowly ripped out of my body, my mind was split, I began to forget many precious memories.
All, until I was dragged towards the abyss.
On that moment, I had a strange feeling.
For the first time in my life, I was able to 'feel' my soul, and then there was light.
My 'vision' returned, in a very different way.
Maybe it would be more accurate to describe it like touch?
I won the ability to 'see' everything around my soul, including other parts of it.
I felt as if I had a million of eyes, each able to see from a different perspective, a different angle.
The only thing I could witness there was the void and my soul which resembled a massive nebula.
It was peaceful, for a while.
A ray of light hit my body, piercing through my soul, creating a little hole on it.
It was not that big of a deal at first, as it was like a needle piercing through a long blanket, however slowly, and steadily I was struck by more and more rays of light.
Little by little, my soul was eroded, I knew that they would be leave nothing behind.
In that moment, I could not help but recall that Angel.
Did I made a mistake?
Even if it was a trap, as long as I prayed to them, I would still have a chance of surviving.
When I thought of this, I saw that Angel again.
The Angel was tangible this time, though I was unable to see their figure clearly, as around their hands there were a thousand of golden strings, that shone as intensively as the sun.
Those strings formed a web, which surrounded my soul as if it was a fly being caught by a spider.
I thought I would die back then, but instead, those strings restitched everything together again.
As if I was a puppet.
Every gap on my soul was repaired, then I woke up here.
On another world.
The Angel actually kept their side of their word.
Back then, I felt overjoyed, I explored whatever little my newborn body could allow me to.
To be honest, I do not know how much 'strength' a baby does have, but I believe, I am powerful that I should be.
I suppose that this is a bit of the magic of this world, heh?
I wandered through my home, and oh boy, I was quite overwhelmed.
This mansion is too huge, too massive!
Maybe this is how those absurd typical Xianxia Scales look up at close, huh?
Anyway, through this long mansion there are many servants, whom even though are annoying, are constantly protecting me.
Ah, yes there is also a man...
How would I describe him?
He has very peculiar eyes.
Like the typical fake-image of a Reptilian in Facebook...
He seems to have a very important position here, so I guess, he is my father?
Leaving that oddly looking man aside, everything sounds great.
I have a new more powerful body, I kept all my memories, and now I am filthy rich.
Right?
Well...
All except for one tiny detail.
I am struggling to remember who I am.
Yes, a baby's brain does not seem to be able to store as many memories as the brain of an adult.
Who would haver imagined this?
Certainly, not me.
Of course, not everything is lost.
I am in a magical world after all, I do not believe that I cannot find a solution, maybe I can find a method to make myself a hundred times smarter?
Besides, I still have this, as my backup plan.
The diary you are reading right now.
Yes, you future me, if you have forgotten, we wrote this, to never forget.
About our original world, about our past life, about our language, names, everything.
...
Though, to be honest, I cannot say for certain my future self is the one reading this.
Who knows, maybe someone else reverse-engineered a whole language, and begun to read this.
In that case, you hypothetical person, I want to say you one thing.
Fuck you.
Do not read other person's diaries.
Anyway, having said this, the last reason, why I am writing this, is as way to recover every step I make.
I will record my attempts to create a Cultivation technique.
As well, as all the steps I took to achieve this..."
The entry ended there.
"Fuck, the language on this world is a mess.
I have tried to make sense of them, but they do not seem to be made in any of the three mother languages of my world, Chinese, Latin or Egyptian.
Seriously, am I supposed to learn a whole language system from scratch, whilst I am mentally impaired?
Whatever, now that this plan has failed, I will attempt to mimic, what I have seen on other novels, luckily one of them will stick.
If not, I will attempt to see if I can catch any person Cultivating, I will mimic their steps, to copy their method.
Luckily this will work..."
Another entry ended there.
"I was contacted by the ANGEL again.
That...liar.
Sigh, he said that he was 'deeply sorry and concerned', that it was never his intent that I would 'misunderstand' him, that his offer was just to ensure my reincarnation, not my memories.
And to help keep those memories, I now have to perform another deal!
Hahah...
I never thought that I would ever witness an eldritch snake-oil seller!
As for the 'great offer' they're giving me, is about amplifying my soul.
Basically, the concept of this is, if I make my soul strong enough, then I can keep all the memories even without a brain.
To strengthen my soul, I only need to carry a ritual.
But before that, I need to close every curtain on the room, close all the dates and doors nearby, and ensure that all the lights are off.
Then, wait until the nascent moon comes.
Then to finally recite the words they imprinted on my head.
'To the one who hides beneath the surface, I pray.
Hoping to be shrouded on your bliss.
Allow my mind to wander into the obscurity,
let my soul be engulfed in the darkness,
but let me remain uncorrupted.
Angel, I beg you to guide me towards a new Fate,
let me follow your footsteps, so one day I may become your shadow.'
...
So, to summarize, they want me to close all the lights, wait until the night, and are asking me to say that I will become a shadow.
...
Yeah, there is no way in hell I will ever say this.
Ah, and if that was not enough, there is another clause.
After our deal is done, I will forget everything about the Angel's existence, and everything surrounding them.
I will forget the dreams, the whispers, the experience I had before and while dying.
...
Yeah, the Angel wants to make me powerless, ignorant, and helpless.
This will be a hard pass.
Anyway, whatever awaits me even if I fail, cannot be worse, than whatever the hell he wants me to become.
In the end, I will at most get amnesia!
And with this diary, I simply will record those memories, and with magic bullshittery, I will sooner or later, recall them, is that simple.
I will not accept any deal."
Another entry ended.
"The pain...Is getting worse.
Is getting hard to think, to write.
It took me half an hour to write that phrase.
..."
Another entry ended.
"It...It feels even worse than the last time.
That fucking Angel...
He did not repair my soul properly on purpose.
I felt that my mind is splitting apart.
Heheheheh....
You want to know something funny?
I now, actually know the language of this world.
Not in the way, I expected, but oh, well, you cannot have it all.
All by a simple process, known as 'Soul Corruption.'
Tiny fragments of deceased souls and lingering wills are coming to me, slipping through the cracks of my soul.
As I am overwritten by them.
IT HURTS!"
Another entry ended.
"I already tried everything, i even used the memories of the 'deceased', to create a Cultivation technique, but I have discovered that there is no hope for me.
Not after I was corrupted.
After I discovered this, I tried to throw himself off a building, and with some luck, I could 'scare' away, whatever soul fragments were attached to me.
However, I was stopped.
By my 'faithful servants', they would naturally not leave their new master die.
.........
Honestly, I do not care anymore.
Kill me, eat my soul or whatever.
Just make it quick."
The diary ended there.
A baby stood up unnaturally.
His eyes were flickering with a purple light.
There was an uncanny smile on his face.
He moved towards the diary, and with a snap of his fingers, he burned it down.
The curtains had been closed, the doors were closed.
The only light left on this room was him.
His body began to float, a purple aura was attracted towards his stomach, that began to twist in an unnatural way.
...
A few hours later.
Bing Qin Yang opened his eyes.
"Where I am?" He moved his head side to side.
Then, he looked at his body.
"I...Actually reincarnated?
I...I cannot believe this, I am the most lucky person in the world!" Tears of happiness reached his cheeks, unaware of what had taken place some time ago.
The Angel stood from the distance, observing the baby briefly.
Before turning their gaze towards another baby.
What?
Who did ever say that the Angel only brought a single person of another world?
The more the merrier as they say.
The Angel brought as many souls, from as many different worlds as possible.
Each person was given a different 'blessing', a different gift.
For example, there was another who received a very unique ability.
He could turn others into his puppets, he could borrow their puppet's brainpower to use them as external brains, by doing this he was able to create various external brains to retain his memories.
Or another one who was given a Bloodline Ability that amplified their brains.
Each of those gifts was absurdly precious, so precious that many countries would engage in war just to get their hands on one of them.
...
The Angel was struck by a ray of light, as the sun rose.
For the first time, the shadow flickered slightly.
The Angel smiled.
'Left with no body, left with no soul.
Nothing but a mirage of what once was.
Who am I?'
