Chapter 4: Leaving the Clan.

Chapter 4: Leaving the Clan.

A few nights later.

"Dear diary, here I am again, writing about my amazing discoveries.

It's incredible how much I can progress if I do not have someone screaming behind my back.

He has taught me a few tricks, like 'Mind Recording', 'Dozing Off', and other Cognition Path tricks.

I was even given one of his most precious creations.

'Neuron Sugary Powder.'

Yeah, I know it sounds like your typical scam, but oh well, I suppose it only makes sense that this world really has this kind of stuff.

Anyway, to use this powder, you must pour it on a cup of water, before mixing it for a minute or two.

The water will become bubbly for a while, before stabilizing, after it stabilizes you can finally drink it.

To be honest, when I first heard of it, I did not thought much about it's actual effect.

But now all I can say is...

WOW.

Simply WOW.

How do I describe this?

That drink is simply too powerful!

I believe that if I gave to anyone back on earth a daily cup of this water, they would become the next einstein or hawking by the next year.

How can I be so sure?

Well...

This is how I felt.

When I took that drink, I initially felt that my head was getting heavier, that it was expanding.

I saw myself on the mirror, and saw how two threads which looked like antennae had appeared on top of my forehead.

Many more threads began to mix and form various knots with the ones around, and thus the antennae quickly became something more akin to horns.

Then, the horns began to acquire an oval shape, before I realized my head was covered by a myriad of threads.

Which resembled a web, an spider web.

But what were those 'threads', what were those 'webs.'

I, immediately understood.

They were neurons.

Brain cells!

Somehow, brain cells had grown outside my head!

This technique...

Is beyond everything else he showed me, beyond most Cognition Path techniques!

Why?

There are many reasons.

Cognition techniques deal with the mind, by using the power of the brain and or soul.

That carries a certain risk.

For example, my 'Mind Recording' technique.

That technique has a very simple use, it can basically allow me to temporarily turn my brain into a camera able to recall every detail of an scene vividly, memories that I can access whenever I want to.

With that technique you can memorize a lot of stuff, like maps, equations, names, etcetera.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

This may sound powerful, but is not a big deal, because you're not actually learning anything when you use this technique, you are only memorizing, to learn those things properly you need to interiorize the meaning behind them and all the other steps.

That is a very basic and simple to learn technique, but even that can lead to various side-effects.

If I used it very often, my memory will begin to get a bit slippery, and I will become a bit forgetful, and also I will require some more sleep on every night.

If I keep abusing it, I may suffer from painful migraines, and I may acquire insomnia.

If even at that point, I keep abusing it, I would suffer from dissociation of my own life, I would begin to get detached to my own life, like if I was an spectator watching a theater play.

If I were to keep going, even after reaching that point, I would soon suffer an aneurysm and die.

Honestly, that death would be quite earned.

Ignoring the obvious question of which kind of person you would have to be to reach that point, I will go to my next point.

Which is that even though this is a very basic trick, it still carries some risk.

And more advanced Cognition Techniques are far more dangerous, moreover they also carry their own burdens, costs, and difficulty of learning.

You could imagine that most Cognition Techniques consist on overburdening the brain to think faster, basically like overclocking a CPU.

The more you overclock a CPU the more it will heat up, and the lower it's lifespan will be.

Of course, there are ways to prevent this like good refrigeration, replacement of the thermal paste and so on.

If you are smart, you can decrease the side-effects considerably, if you are not, you may end up shutting down your PC in an hour.

Ehem, there are other things like Cognition Qi, or modifying the brain shape, but honestly, I do not know how they work, so I will ignore them.

My point is, this sugary powder is more like an external RAM that is temporarily added, to improve the process of thinking.

Anyway, those neurons have already dissipated.

But they gave me some quite interesting ideas.

Even though is not complete by any means, I already made an initial concept of a fusion between my two Sutras I call it:

Breathing, Boiling, Bloody Ghost.

Or BBBG to make it short.

Yeah, I will think in a better name later.

...

Anyway, now that I have written this, I should go to sleep.

Is getting quite late.

And I was told that tomorrow, I would meet the examiner to perform my test.

Heh...

I am actually feeling quite nervous.

If I had not my 'Dozing Off' technique, I really do not know if I could sleep tonight."

The writing ended there, Bing Qin Yang dragged his diary, and put all the arrays on place, before going to his bed to sleep.

All without ever realizing he was being observed through a mirror.

"Interesting, he is just like the rumors say.

He is quite the paranoid to create a language on his own.

Of course, I should not assume things, maybe he only found an inheritance which taught about that cryptic language, a language that he mastered and now uses routinely.

How funny.

A smelly brat actually believes that he has a 'secret' worth treasuring.

Though, I cannot blame him entirely, I also used to act like that, when I first began to make my own recipes of elixirs.

Having said this, he is actually quite surprising.

I saw his practice, and he actually stumbled in a secret or two of the Void Realm all by himself, but I guess he was inspired by the rest of his family.

His grandfather is a Void Cultivator, the father already shows signs of a breakthrough, as for his brother...

He was born in a halfway state to the Void Realm?"

The examiner was not sure of that last piece of information, initially when he received this information by one of the spies he sent, he believed that this was mere propaganda of the Bing Clan, but after seeing that other Clans were genuinely unsure of the veracity of that statement, made him very bemused.

"I know that Clans usually all kinds of methods to improve the physique of their proteges, like using the work of physicians to change subtly their bone shape while they are young, or modifying the vein channels to make them more flexible and resilient.

I have even heard a few more extravagant methods like 'Lucky Development', in where they use Luck Path to make the child develop on the most efficient way possible, to give them just a bit more of talent.

But that?

What the hell did they do with Bing Sheng Wang?

Did they gave him the lingering soul of an immortal for breakfast and a Qi Sea bowl as a dinner?"

The man laughed heartily.

"Now that I think about it, this situation is quite funny, when I was young, I always cursed my luck, believing that if I had been born wealthy, prestigious or if I at least was not an orphan, the Red Ghost Association would have never turned me in one of their pawns.

However, Bing Sheng Wang is the opposite, he has received so many gifts, and so much power, that his body is basically on the verge of collapse!

Likely, he decided to join one of those groups to find a way to treat his illness.

I can understand that, but what guides the other one?

Is it envy, is it greed, is it foolishness?

Or all the above."

.....

"He truly does not know what he is dragging himself to, but oh well, I am his examiner, I will naturally give him a proper understanding about the kind of experiences he will have, when he joins.

After getting a first-taste experience, I am sure he will come back crying to daddy.

Now I only need to wait..."

The man remained there silently, observing the youth for an hour and half.

After getting sure that he had fallen deep into deep slumber, but that had not rested entirely, he made his move.

He ripped the space apart with his nails, creating a gate between the two positions and dragging Bing Qin Yang towards him.

The space fluctuations automatically woke Bing Qin Yang up.
