--{Due to the amount of participants in this fight, the point of view will become 3nd}--

Partyvs.HydrasValgrimHydra 1BrutusHydra 2SahrraHydra 3ScaldHydra 4MeridiaDirrgGirrFIGHT!

In the second following Brutus's roar, quite a few thing happened.  On the Hydra side, they split into 2 groups.  The four biggest adult turned to face us snarling, while the others rushed the kids into one of the tunnels.  On the party's side, they all quietly fumed at Brutus for ruining the trap, but went into action.

Quickly swimming to the bony beach, they set up in combat positions: Brutus, Sahaara, Dirrg, and Girr in the front, with Scald, Valgrim, and Meridia behind them.

As soon as they were in position, all the participants jumped into the fight.

The four hydra spread out, 2 in the middle and one on both left and right.

Starting off the fight, Brutus and one of the Hydras charged each other, meeting just beyond the bone part of the beach.

They clashed together, Brutus wielding his mighty battle ax and the 5-headed Hydra throw it's whole weight against him.  Even with his great strength, Brutus was pushed backwards, his feet leaving heavy marks in the sand.

In the back Meridia summoned her familiar, a small monkey, while Valgrim and Scald both began chanting- Valgrim to his god, Scald to his summons.  Saharra gathered arcane power to herself in preparation to buff herself.  Dirrg, who was riding Girr,  took a defensive stance in front of the back-line.

As Brutus slashed and hacked at the Hydra, Valgrim finished his casting, "...Fog of Seasickness!"

Instantly, a green fog rolled over Brutus and the Hydra, engulfing them.  The spell, when breathed in, caused creatures with low fortitude to become deathly sick.  Valgrim was counting on Brutus to resist the fog, they had been together long enough to know their capabilities.

Valgrim did not count on the other Hydra however.  It was the biggest one, with a rare eight heads, signifying it's battle experience and age.  It sniffed at the fog in front of it, eyes narrowing, and breathed a torrent of flame out of all eight mouths.

The result was completely unexpected, the fog exploded, throwing flame and force everywhere.  Brutus was thrown backwards into the group, while Hydra 1 screeched in terrible pain, it's once shiny scales now burned.  In anger, it turned and charged Hydra 4(eight heads), who promptly cut it down with it's eight head.

The explosion had startled Hydra 2 and 3, who charged with Girr intercepting 2 and Saharra intercepting 3.  Girr and Dirrg jumped in, howling in battle lust, slashed with ax and claws against it's 5 heads.  Saharra had finished strengthening her defense, and now thrust her long-sword into on of the 5 heads of Hydra 3.

Meanwhile, Brutus was slowly recovering from the blast, but he was badly burned and one of his arms wouldn't move.  Valgrim quickly began channeling healing magic into Brutus.

"I need a minute to get him ready for battle!" He yelled to Meridia and Scald, "Keep him busy!"  Him referred to, of course, the eight-headed hydra, who had finished massacring Hydra 1, and was now charging to finish the 4 of them.  Quickly, Scald finished his summoning spell, which called two strange beings in front of them.  They were humanoid, but had long arms which they used as legs, and were terribly skinny with a red and black color.

"Go!" Scald ordered, and the beings launched themselves at Hydra 4, screaming.  Meridia gave her familiar some potions, who immediately ran toward Saharra, who was still fighting her Hydra.

Dirrg had managed to cut off a head, and Girr was slashing at two of the heads by herself.  Their strategy was to get all the heads to focus on one of them, so the other could slash into the main body, the only efficient strategy when fire wasn't available.

At this point, the monkey had reached Saharra.  The monkey climbed up to her shoulder and offered a potion.  Jumping back, Saharra quickly drank the potion.  The effects were immediate, but unperceivable to a normal onlooker.  Feeling her strength rising, Saharra roared out, casting flames out of her hands, "Hand of Flame!"  The wounds she had inflicted on the Hydra quickly burnt over, the Hydra howling in pain.  Now if she got off heads, it would take even longer to regrow heads, leaving it in a dangerous spot.

Back at the middle, Valgrim began sweating as he continued channeling energy into Brutus.  He had spent a lot of divine energy today, if this became an extended fight, he would fall unconscious from the effort.  Scald finished casting another spell, this time casting "Obscuring Fog!"  A fog similar to the earlier one rolled around Hydra 4.

Knowing what was coming next, the Hydra tried to back-peddle out of the fog, giving the two creatures time to injure two of the heads.  It wasn't quick enough to escape completely though, as Scald cast his own 'Hands of Fire" into the fog.  A second explosion rocked the cavern, destroying the two creatures, who cursed Scald out as they were banished, and burning two of the Hydra's heads.  Dirrg took advantage of the distraction and plunged his ax deep into the Hydra's body.

Howling, it died, collapsing on the ground.

Saharra also dispatched her Hydra, her sword slicing so strongly the Hydra split in half.  Both of it's halves fell with a groaning like sound.

Valgrim finished healing Brutus, collapsing onto his back, breathing in deeply.  Brutus's eyes shot open, roaring, and charged the final Hydra, invoking his rage.  He jumped straight at the Hydra, arms behind his back gripping his battle ax.  His eyes glowing red, he smashed his battle straight through the Hydra's heart.  It fell, and Brutus stood atop it's corpse and roared in victory.

"Phew, glad that's over." said Valgrim, "I need a breather."  With that said, Valgrim fell on his back and began snoring.  Brutus collected some bones, threw on some heat stones, and poured some ale over it.  Having a decent fire, he began to expertly cook the Hydra meat.

Saharra looked incredulous, after all, she and the other elves had tasted Brutus's cooking on the way through the tunnels, it had been terrifyingly bad.  She shook Valgrim awake in a rush.  He blinked, looked up, and asked, "What's all the hubbub?"

"Brutus is cooking, and it doesn't look poisonous at all!"

Valgrim looked over.  "Oh, that because he's using his ale for the fire, he doesn't make mistakes when it comes to using ale."
