Two shapes fall out of the sky and land on the ground with a thud.

"You ok?" Shrii says, while stretching out, and making sure nothing is out of place.

Goof, laying on the ground, stares straight up into the sky and says "I think I actually came through that fall with all my pieces still intact!"

Shrii reaches out out a hand to help him up from off the ground, and he staggers into a standing position. She brushes him off and he looks around to try to figure out where they are. Shrii turns around, then raises an eyebrow, "We are on a beach." She says, while walking toward the waters edge. "I see something out there..." she says while pointing out across the water.

Goof is walking away from her with a frown on his face, muttering to himself "What, wha... that can't be..." while looking inland.

"Hey Goof, what do you think that thing sticking out of the water over there is? Goof?" Shrii asks, and doesn't get any response. Raising her hand to her forehead, she squints into the distance.

"No way!" Goof exclaims. "This is impossible!" He shouts, and starts running away from the sand.

Shrii turns around and starts moving while saying " Hey, what is it, wait up!" Then she stops dead.

Goof runs up to the grass, laughing, and stops, "You do not see grass like this at home!" He says while pointing at a grass and dirt block on top of the sand. They both stand there with mouths open, just staring at the blocky landscape of a game island.

Then Shrii snaps out of it and shouts "What?!" Then, turning back to the water, " Then, is that thing I saw out there a squid??" She says, pointing to the water.

"I think it is!" Goof says, looking out into the water, seeing a few blocky tentacles sticking out of the water.

"Are we really in a game?" Asks shrii.

"Well, I guess we can check." Goof says, while turning to look for a tree. "Thankfully there's a couple of trees on this island."

What if the tree actually drops blocks?" Shrii says while they both make their way over to one of the few trees. Goof smiles at her, saying "There's only one way to find out!" Getting into a good stance, Goof takes a deep breath, and gives the tree a good punch. "Ow!" He says while shaking his hand out, as a small crack developed in the square trunk. They watch the crack fade away slowly.

"Wait a minute," shrii says as she makes a fist and lightly taps the tree in the same spot, and a crack the same size as before appears, and then slowly fades away again.

"So we don't have to hit it very hard!" Goof excitedly points out, and starts lightly punching the tree. After quite a few hits the tree breaks and crumbles, wood cubes falling all around us.

"Mrphf!" Shrii grunts, as an apple bounces off her head. Then she looks on the ground to see the apple floating there in 2d, along with wood blocks, sticks, and saplings floating just of the ground, all around it. Looking around, she says "Oh my goodness! It's so weird actually seeing something 2D. What happens when I pick them up?" She moves around, circling the items now floating on the ground. The wood and sticks get sucked up into a patch of nothing right in front of her.

"That was so strange to see! How do you access inventory?" Goof says, coming over to where she is standing. She starts waving her hands around. Goof starts laughing, thinking she looks so silly.

"I don't know, why are you laughing at me?" Shrii says, while starting to laugh herself.

"I don't know if you are going to figure anything out by waving around like that!" Exclaims Goof, while looking exasperated.

"Well! I mean it's not like I've actually done this before! We have to try everything!" Shrii says. Then she whips out a wood block, and throws it on the ground in front of Goof.

He jumps back; "Watch it!" He shouts.

"Oh, I'm sorry! I guess I figured it out though." Shrii says apologeticlly. "If you focus on what you have, it'll sort of bring up an 'inventory screen' in your mind, and you just need to decide to hold the item you have, or in this case, throw it down, and that's it."

Goof squints his eyes shut and stands there for a minute. Then he pulls out a wood block pops into his hand. "Like that! Cool, this is going to be so great. I have no idea what's happening but this is amazing!" Goof says as he holds up the wood block and poses dramatically.

"What are you doing?" Shrii asks.

"Basking in the gaming glory." Goof says with a serious expression; but then he turns to Shrii and grabs her shoulder, while still holding the block in the other hand. "Do you know what this means?"

With her free hand she grabs his opposite shoulder. "We need to go mining, and find chickens, and make weapons."

"Not only that, we need to find out what version of the game this is, and if there are mods in it!" Goof says hopefully.

"Oh, I didn't think of that, you're right!" Shrii shouts out.

"Before anything else, I guess I'm going to make a wooden pickaxe" Goof says as he shuts his eyes and concentrates for a minute, and then into his hand pops a blocky wooden crafting table. He opens his eyes, and says: "Oh that is so cool!" He points at the ground and the crafting table pops onto it. Staring at it intently, he squints his eyes. While he is standing there a wooden pickaxe pops into existence in Shrii's hand and she moves back just a bit.

"Woah." She says in surprise. She turns, looking curiously at the landscape around her. "There sure is a lot of water here... but I see some islands off in the distance."

After a moment of staring at the crafting table, Goof says: "Shrii, not only can I craft things with my mind, but there's a list of items! To the right of the inventory in the crafting table, just like in the just enough items!" A wooden pickaxe pops into his hand.

"Oh good, that mean's we have that mod at least." Shrii sighs. "Now we need to find some coal."

Goof runs away a bit, then says "Running isn't hard!" Then, he stops at the edge of a hole. "Oh, I might have found somewhere we can dig. I'm going to go get some stone for better tools." He hops down a few blocks into the hole and starts digging with his pickaxe. Shrii hops down into the hole with him.

"It's sure dark down here, I hope we can find some coal soon." Shrii says. They both mine enough blocks of stone after a minute or so to make new stone pickaxes. After testing a few swings of the new axe, she says "I'm going to throw away this wooden axe, the stone is faster!."

Goof digs a new hole 2 blocks deep, then says: "Me too, but I'm going to throw it away in this hole I just made, so that I don't have to pick it back up again by accident."

Shrii comes over to him and also dumps her old axe into the hole he made. "Good plan."

After spending a few minutes mining stone, so they had a small stockpile, Goof speaks up: "Hey look, I think I may have found coal!" Shrii runs over to inspect it too;

"Oh, yes, I think it is! A big vein, by the looks of it." They take off and mine the whole vein, it takes them quite a few minutes to get all of it. Goof wipes at his face with his shirt. "Well, I don't seem to sweat much, at least so far, thankfully, but this is hard work!"

Shrii pulls out some torches and places one on the ground beside them, before dropping a few in front of Goof. Instantly the cave lights up a few meters around them. "Here, light finally!"

"Yay! It was definitely tough to see anything without light." Goof says. After a few minutes of sitting there together resting after all the mining, there is a faint noise they both hear.

"What is that noise?" Shrii says, quizzically. They both listen intently for a minute.

"I don't know, is it getting closer?" Goof asks. Then, they hear shuffling noises, and then finally they hear clearly: "*Braaaaaains*".
