Chapter 2 ReDone

As I was sitting beside the bed with my newly acquired daughter, she was peacefully sleeping, probaly thinking of her mother.

I thought to myself, she did indeed inherit most of her looks from her mother and looked more human than demon, and when I remembered when I looked at her eyes they were a light shade of red,

I also had red eyes, but it was a darker shade of red than hers whose shone brightly.

As soon as she her eyes opened she said,

"Where is mama?"

Knowing I had to tell her the truth, it pained me to say,

"Your mother is in a better place, and you will now live here with me"

"who are you?"

She replied with tears that were on the corner of her eyes,

"I am your father, and I will be here for you at all times, and love you"

She was trying to stay strong and not cry, but at that moment I hugged her, she let it all go and cried until she fell asleep.

Knowing I had a lot to prepare for I called for one of the maids I knew a while back, her name was Amaya and she was an experience maid as well as a soldier. Amaya was also one of the

few people I knew from childhood as she lived in the next town over, unlike me she looked 100% demon, Amaya was a beauty, she had light blue skin, white hair, black eyes, and a body that would make even

elves jealous. When I became the Demon Lord she was a general in the war, and one of the first generals to acknowledge me as the Demon Lord, as for the other generals who thought I was weak,

I simply killed them off wasting little time, because I was in a hurry to end the war and didn't want to prolong the war by fighting demons who opposed me.

As I was leaving Ruby's room I head a shout,

"Graves who is that child?"

It was Amaya

"She is my daughter Ruby, and she will now start living here with me"

"Daughter?, When?, and why now?"

After I told her the fully story and how I met Ruby's mother and the event I witnessed when I arrived to where Ruby was at.

She looked at me with a face of pity, and was crying.

"Amaya please stop crying, your scaring me."

"Graves you have it hard *sob* *sob*, I know I'll be her mother from now on!."

"Amaya thanks for the offer, but I rather you to be her caretaker instead of a mother"

"Got it Graves, I'll do just that, and take care of her every needs and make sure she grows up with love and care"

"thank you Amaya, I knew I could trust you."

As I left Amaya who was peeking through Ruby's room, I was heading to my throne room to think of the next few steps I had to take for Ruby.

For a few weeks Ruby could be heard crying in the middle of the night, and every time she would cry I would hug her until she fell asleep, It was during these moments

that I felt I now have a goal I must accomplish at all cost.

I spotted ruby in the dining room eating breakfast with Amaya"

"Ruby how are you feeling today?"

"I'm feeling good papa"

said Ruby while smiling.

I could feel that their was still a hint of sadness in her smile.

"Ruby Do you want to come with papa to see the ocean?"

"Papa, Really?, Are we visiting the ocean?"

Now her smile was getting better and didn't look like it was as forced as before.

"Yes, We are going to visit a certain island that is known for its beauty."

"Amaya can you help Ruby prepare for the trip, while I set the coordinates for the teleporter?"

"No problem Graves will be at the teleporter in around 10 minutes"

During the first few weeks Ruby opened her heart a little more to me and Amaya, It was these moments I could feel that

Ruby is moving on with her life and forgetting the grief she had before.

<10 minutes later>

The teleporter was a creation I designed myself and I was the only one in the world  who had access to it, after conquering dungeons I experimented with the stones dungeons

would use after you conquer a dungeon. These stones would teleport you to the entrance of the dungeon, then right after you were teleported the dungeon would vanish into thin air. After

I experimented with these stones, I made a break through and eventually figured how to use them more effectively and teleport anywhere I've been before.

The telepoter in the castle was only known to me, Amaya, and now Ruby, Other than those people it was a complete secret.

After we were teleported to the island, I noticed that Amaya was already in her swimwear and Ruby as well. It was quite a peaceful sight to see, In a sandy beach next to a clear blue ocean,

you would see a beauty, and a child that was the cutest thing in existance play in the ocean. The island was called Paradise, it was an island I discovered long ago, when I was exploring new places,

it was far away from the mainland. The real reason I came to this island however was to mine a certain type of mana stone that couldn't be found anywhere else. These mana stones glowed red, and could

store more mana than anything and was harder than the strongest material that I knew of. My staff was also had bits of this type of mana stone. Today I figured I would use mine these stones and

make a necklace for Ruby, Because not only can they store mana, the stored mana could act as a barrier for the user wearing it. As I was crafting the Stone using my magic,

after a couple of hours passed I finished crafting the necklace. As I was finished I headed back to where Amaya and Ruby were located, and I could see Ruby holding a black object.

"Amaya was is Ruby holding?"

"Hmm, I think its an egg."

"What egg is that?"

"not too sure, but I think Ruby wants to keep it, we shouldn't be too worried about the parents because it was just sitting there alone."

I turn to Ruby who was looking at me with pleading eyes to let her keep the egg.

"Ruby you don't know what animal or monster is within that egg, so we should leave that egg here"

"No, papa I want to bring it with us, Amaya said it was abandoned"

cried Ruby with eyes filled with determination to keep it.

I gave a glare at Amaya who looked away.

*sigh*

"Ruby I'll let you keep the egg, but what ever hatches from the egg is going to be your responsibility."

Then I walked to her and she put the egg softly on the ground and hugged me, she knew my weakness,

as she hugged me, I remembered the necklace I crafted, As soon as I remembered I told Ruby to close her eyes and put her hands out"

when I placed the necklace in her hands, she said,

"Papa, what is it?"

"its a necklace, It for you, this will protect you no matter where you are at."

and just like that it was the afternoon and I teleported myself, Amaya, Ruby, and her new egg.

<1 year later>

Ruby now the age of 3, Looked a lot more happier than from the previous year.

As I was in the Dining room eating my breakfast I heard a shout,

"Papa!"

Rushing to Ruby's room with a mana ball floating above my right hand, and my staff in my right hand, the first thing I noticed in her room was that, there was no signs of her being in danger

and a couple of black pieces on the floor next to her bed where she kept the egg.

I did however see a black lizard was on Ruby's head which I was about to kill , until Amaya stopped me.

"Papa, Look! This lizard is what hatched from the egg!"

I looked strangely at it, as I was staring at it, it looked oddly familiar.

"Graves, I'm not too sure, but I think thats a baby dragon"

that is when it hit me, I remember how they looked like. I met a group of dragons when I was traveling the world and remember how they looked like as babies, but I also remembered how

protective dragons were with their eggs, which made me more curious why an egg was on the island we were at and no signs of any dragon living there.

"I think your right Amaya, that is definitely a baby dragon"

"Papa can I keep it?"

said Ruby with eyes that were full of expectation. I couldn't refuse, I'm so weak towards my daughter.

"Ruby, you can keep it on one condition, If the dragon is not properly trained and hurts you, I'm going to release back to its kind.

<4 years passed>

Ruby is now the age of 7 and looks like a young girl.

Ruby also kept her promise of properly training the dragon, so I never got to release it, but I was still cautious because dragons are very strong and possessive monsters.

Ruby's Dragon was first named by Ruby as Mr.bunny, Why she first tried to name it that I have no idea, but feeling sad for the dragon, I told her to name it Ebonia.

The dragon Ebonia grew a lot in the 4 years, Ebonia was able to fly after a year, and that was when I nearly fainted from shock because, one day I went to Ruby's room and saw that she jumped out of the

window, when I rushed to look outside the window I saw that Ebonia caught her and was flying around the castle. After I saw that, I gave a warning to Ruby to not fly on Ebonia unless

you were under the supervision of me or Amaya. Ebonia was almost 5 feet long from head to tail and was pretty lean for a dragon, her scales were jet black, and her eyes were like that of a serpent and shone a bright golden color.

Also during the 4 years I started to teach Ruby on how to use her mana, since she followed the same way I used mana, but the magic I taught her were all defensive and healing magic, because offensive

magic could harm the user if the user didn't concentrate enough. Amaya also began acting like an aunt towards Ruby, and got along really well with Ruby.

Although the Ruby I see now has grown stronger emotion wise, I could sometimes still hear her cry about her mother in her dreams, and on those days I would hold my daughters hand, until she felt better.

Author's note:

Chapter 1 revised too look different took one of the comments I read, and tried the dialogue, this type of writeing is different than what im use to, so I hope it wasn't too bad.

In future chapters I will be trying to describe how the demon kingdom looks like as well as the other ones, I'll try to be more descriptive as well, and try to focus on character depth.

Hope you think this somewhat good, and Please comment on what I can do to improve because those help.
