Satan arrived at the spot where Albedo lay, gazing down at his condition. Albedo was burned to a crisp, his lower body reduced to charred stumps, and black blood oozed from the wounds like a relentless river. His flesh was riddled with burst pores, leaking pus that mingled with the roasted maggots floating in the viscous fluid.
The stench of burnt meat and decay permeated the air, creating a scene that was truly revolting.
If there had been any humans present, the stench would have overwhelmed them, making them lose their senses. However, Satan remained unfazed due to his demon physiology. Demons possessed a secondary racial ability called "Unfazed" that granted them immunity to the effects of all kinds of smells.
'Very disgusting smell... I am lucky that I am a demon... time to end this mess once and for all.'
He raised his hand, preparing to deliver the final blow as a black magic circle began to materialize. He was going to cast a spell called "Dark Impulsion" that would make the target burst open from the inside.
"Looks like this is my end, is it not?" Albedo said in a calm tone.
"It is. What will you do?"
Satan he had anticipated that Albedo would plead for his life; that's what people would normally do.
"No..." Albedo huffed. "Go ahead, kill me..."
That was surprising.
"Huh, are you not going to beg for your miserable life, pleading and writhing in desperation?"
"No, I have committed something truly unforgivable, and I can't live with that realization. In fact, I had contemplated ending my own life, but then you arrived. However, there is one thing I would like answered, consider it my dying wish..."
While it was not necessary, Satan had decided to at least hear what Albedo would say in a state like this.
"Go ahead... I am willing to hear."
"What made you come after me?"
"I was summoned and made a deal with the summoner; she desired revenge on you."
"Revenge on me for what reasons?"
"Do you remember the thunderous night of March 27? I believe that should suffice."
Albedo delved into his memory, recalling what happened on that day. "You are talking about her?"
"Yes, I meant her."
Albedo paused briefly, before he said,"Can you tell her a few words of mine?"
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Satan nodded; there was no harm in passing on just a few words.
"Tell her that what I did wasn't my choice; I had no option; I was forced into it."
'Wait a minute?'
"You said you were forced?"
"Yes, I was, and forgive me, I can't disclose their names; I am bound by a blood oath. But I can tell you they are not my associates. If you want her revenge to be truly fulfilled, then you must deal with them. They are psychos hell-bent on burning the world."
"What makes you think I would stop them?"
"I have a special power that allows me to sense someone's purity of heart... and I know for a fact that you are not evil, but a misguided man with twisted ideals... I believe you will be the one to stop them..."
"Who knows... but I must admit, you are an intriguing person, Albedo... it's a shame it has to end this way."
"Indeed, I feel the same... before you end me, may I ask for your name? It would be an honor to remember you when my soul reaches purgatory."
"I am the darkness that consumes light, the fire that burns hope, the enemy of all that is good; I have as many names as there are stars, but you can call me Satan."
"Satan, like the devil?"
"Yes, one and the same."
"Hehehe... farewell then..."
Satan activated the spell. Unlike his other spells, this one belonged to a category of spells known as chantless spells, which required no invocation of names or arias; a mere thought was sufficient.
Albedo was torn into blasted pieces. Flesh fragments flew across the area, with some landing on Satan's face before sliding off slowly, and black blood rained down from above.
He looked at his hand; he had finally killed someone, but it was not as enjoyable as he had thought. Albedo had died without any fear on his face, something Satan didn't expect. Not to mention the extra information Albedo had provided—it seemed this wasn't a simple rape case. There was more going on behind the scenes, and he was a part of it. What bothered him most was Elena's position in this mess. Was she just a random target for some nefarious purpose, or was there something special about her? It was too much for his simple mind to contemplate; he always struggled with such complex problems.
Then a white aura surrounded Satan, quickly cleaning him and his clothing before vanishing into thin air. This was a mage class skill available to all mage classes from the very beginning, generally used for cleaning gear infected with negative status effects like dirt.
'Time to get out of this place. Wait a minute! How the hell am I going to get out of this place?!'
....
Elena sat on the floor, gazing out the window, her anticipation mounting as she awaited Satan's arrival with news she longed to hear.
'What's keeping him?' she wondered, impatience creeping in with the morning light.
How much longer must she wait for justice? The law had failed, prayers unanswered, and if even the Devil deceived her, what hope remained?
"Where are you, Satan?"
As the words left her lips, a voice behind her shattered the silence.
"Did my absence trouble you so?"
"Satan!" Elena exclaimed, turning to face him. "What are you so late?!"
"Ah, well..." Satan took a seat on the bed. "There has been quite a shift in our deal... a bit slight."
"Shifted? What do you mean by that?"
"An unexpected twist has altered our course. Allow me to recount the recent events."
....
A gust of wind swept through the room as Satan wrapped up the story, naturally altering himself slightly to give the impression that he was an untouchable entity—a small exaggeration on his part—and also leaving out a few more minuscule details.
"I don't have words to express..."
Elena was left speechless.
First, she learned that Albedo was a monster. Second, she grappled with his evident guilt over his actions. But what truly stunned her was the revelation that he had been coerced into that "act."
"I hated Albedo for what he had done to me, but with this info.... I feel bad for him..."
"Now, what are your plans, Elena?" Satan asked in a calm, soft voice. "Do you want me to find the ones whom Albedo mentioned to truly make your revenge complete, or do you want me to leave it as it is?"
Elena gave it some thought, deciding what she should do, and after a few seconds, she made her decision.
"No, I don't want you to continue my revenge.... One innocent died because of me; there is a possibility that even those who forced Albedo were themselves victims of someone else...."
To some, Albedo might not be considered innocent, but for Elena, he was now.
"But can you please stop them from what they are going to do?"
"You don't have to tell me that, my dear Elena. There is only one existence in the world who will burn this world to cinders, and that is me... not these low thrashes..."
Satan laid back on the bed.
"What are you going to do now, Satan?"
"For the time being, nothing. I plan to take a nap."
"I see..." After brushing off her clothing, Elena stood up. "Hey, Satan, what do demons eat?"
'What? What do demons eat? ... I don't know, not that I am going to tell her that. After all, I have an image to maintain.'
"Just give me anything that you humans consume," as Satan extended his arms and legs out on the bed. "And take care of yourself, Elena. You are my precious little human."
"I will...."
Elena left the room.
'I need to unwind; I'm mentally exhausted.' Satan turned his head away. 'It was very lucky of me that I was wearing the "Ring Of Uncaged"'
The Ring of Uncaged allowed him to teleport from any location, bypassing anti-teleportation methods at the cost of 100 MP.
This was only used as a last resort when all options of escape were gone. But in the case of PvP, the use of this item was banned.
Satan was glad that there were no players here; if he were to theoretically fight them at this state, then it would be quite a difficult position.
