Chapter 1

The Morales Orphanage was built for war-torn children during the post-war era of the Titan Overture, roughly ~150 years ago.

'Regardless of blood, a young mind, even if not human, is still naïve and unfruitful, thus must be nurtured accordingly.' Morales phrased, creating a strict-military like orphanage for children under the age of 12, even accepting those of none-human descent.

There were several orphanages scattered across the country, but the number of orphanages dwindled from the size of a mountain to the size of a big boulder; that is to say, there were barely any orphanages left.

However, even after its decrease in prominence and financial resources, it still kept it's strict-military like agenda; for this, it's garnered attention and backing from several notable figures and organizations.

At the age of 12, children are unrestricted to Academies, thus the Morales Orphanage sends these children to an Academy, and from there the Patrons, Organizations, and Costumers pay close attention to the children's performances.

Of course, such an 'industry' will carry a more darker undertone; even within the Orphanage, as officials will try to boost their standings.

But, despite that, there will always be honorable individuals everywhere, especially in a place such as an orphanage.

"Meta! Meta! Where are youuuuu?" A young woman called out. She had a charming and gentle face that made you feel like you were wrapped in a warm blanket if you had even just 1 glance.

"Sigh...Come on, Meta... We have to go..." Poko sighed. She had been chasing the 9 year old child around the garden the entire afternoon, as the boy was surprisingly good at hiding.

She sat down on the ground and looked up at the sky, thinking that she should take a little break, and watched the clouds pass her by as the gardens breeze grazed her body. The birds chirped as she recalled the first time she started working here almost a decade ago; It was gray and somber, something she wasn't very used to.

She knew what the orphanage entailed, as it had a reputation for ill-mannered and uncivil children, but she didn't expect that the atmosphere to be so gloomy. Having grown up in an affectionate household, she wanted to something about it.

She pestered the orphanage head for 2 years straight until he finally fell for her charms and opened up to the idea of a garden and less emphasis on training and disciplining, reducing the strict regiment and stress on the children.

After that the orphanage seemed to take on a different aura, it became just a little more brighter. She knew that there were other branches of the orphanage, and if she worked long and hard enough maybe she could improve all the others.

"Haha!" A child's laughter woke her up from her daydream.

"Ah!" She yelled and got up.

She turned the corner and found a child hunched down in front of the fountain, holding up a plucked white flower that seemed to glow.

"Meta! There you are." She called out. "Let's go, it'll be time for lunch. I know you don't wanna miss that!"

The boy looked up at her with bright eyes and said, "Look ! "

"Hm?" She got closer towards the flower. "Oh! It's a Riveta Flower! Those are very rare!"

"It's glowing !" He said.

"Yes! Are you interested in it?" She questioned

"Yea ! Why does it glow?"

"Mhm.. Ok so, I'll tell you ALL about it." She held her finger out, pointing upwards. "But first, let's go back inside and have lunch, ok?"

"Ok!" He yelled, excitedly.

"Come on." She held his hands and headed inside.

Inside the building, the entrance lead to a large cafeteria with triangular roofings. 4 large tables were settled in a square shape, 1 on each corner.

The place was bustling with kids and adults alike. In the front there was an array of food with 2 people serving food, and a man with black and brown robes was walking in between the tables, making sure the kids didn't do anything mischievous.

After having arrived, Poko had set Meta down on a bench away from the other 4 tables after getting him food.

"Ok, just stay here for a moment." Poko said, then headed towards a door with a "restroom" sign.

Meta looked towards the fleeting back of Poko, then back stared back to his food. Mashed potatoes, Steak, and a little bit of greens. Just the way he liked it.

After a few bites of his food, he looked at what Poko called the 'Riveta Flower'. He was fascinated by it. Why did it glow? Why did it not wither after being plucked? What would it be like to be a flower?

He distracted himself with these thoughts and food as the other children passed by him. He didn't get along with them very well. They always teased him for a lot of things, mostly for him being fat and incompetent; he wasn't very strong either, and his magic aptitude was below average. The only person he got along with was Poko, who was his 'Auntie' so she didn't really count as a friend, and a girl his age, Analyn, but they weren't friends, she was just the only one nice enough to greet him sometimes, and plus she hung out with Jos, who didn't seem to like him very much so it would be hard to even reach out to her.

"Hahaha!" There was a group of laughter and Meta looked to see who they were. It was Jos, Analyn, and their group of friends walking towards one of the tables, which was towards him. They were all holding trays of food as they conversed with each other.

Analyns eyes moved towards a chubby, short haired boy staring at her. She gestured a little wave and smile towards him.

Seeing Analyn's smile made Meta's heart beat a little faster. He waved back meekly, blushing all the while they got closer.

"Hi, Meta." Analyn greeted while still smiling. This made Jos and her other friends look at him, making him their center of attention; It made his stomach turn and knot.

"How are you?" She smiled, going up to him.

Meta felt tense. He wasn't expecting her to strike up a conversation like that, just a little greeting would of been enough.

"I..I'm ok..." He mumbled.

"Whats THAT?" She pointed towards a glowing object.

Meta fidgeted with the flower, holding it up towards his face.

"It's called a Riveta Flower. Auntie told me that." He explained, "She said she was going to tell me more.. So I don't really know anything .."

"Oh." She said. "It's cool. It's glowing white!"

"Yeah.." Meta replied.

A boy that was tall for his age walked up to the two of them chatting. He had black hair and light-brown eyes.

"Why are you talking to him?" Jos questioned. "He's weird."

"Don't say that," Ana retorted, "He's not weird."

"Look, "Ana pointed, "He even has a glowing flower, cool right?"

Jos squinted and stared at the flower. "I guess it IS kind of cool.."

"I got something cooler though!" Jos exclaimed.

"What?" Ana tilted her head.

"Hngg.." Jos held his wrist, and slowly a transparent bluish aura was exuding around his hands.

"Now look." He said while a drop of sweat was on his forehead.

He pointed towards the flower and it smoothly rose in the air.

Meta stared in amazement. He could only exude magic onto his fingertips, but Jos being able to cover his entire hand AND lifting flower blew his mind! How was he able to do that?

"Hehe." Jos grinned proudly. "Cool right?"

"Wooow!" Analyn cheered. "I can't lift anything yet... How did you do that?"

"I'm just talented." Jos smirked while dropping the flower down to Meta's hands.

"I can even lift something heavier if I tried really, really hard." He said.

"Really?" Analyn question.

"Yup." Jos nodded.

"Let's see then!" Analyn exclaimed, followed by her other friends saying it as well.

"Ok, ok. I'll show you."

"Yea.." Meta mumbled, feeling that Jos finally took a bit of liking towards him. "I wanna see.."

"You wanna see too?" Jos lifted his eyebrows. "Ok sure."

"Now watch." Jos pointed his palm towards a glass of water on one if his friends food tray, and exerted so much force that a vein popped out on his forehead.

"Arggh... Come on...." He started getting red as the glass rose slowly into the air, the water swaying back and forth against the cup.

"Woaah!" Everyone exclaimed.

"That's so cool!" Meta cried out, his eyes sparkling.

"Not yet.." Jos struggled, as he moved the cup. "Argh..."

The cup spun slowly, dropping down towards the ground.

Splash. Tik tik tik.

The cup dropped on Meta's head, soaking him with water as the cup teetered on the ground.

"Jos!" Analyn cried out.

"Ah.." Jos opened his mouth and his eyes widened. "I got tired.."

"Are you ok?" Analyn asked worriedly.

"Umm.. Yeah.." Meta whispered, grasping his wet pants with teary eyes.

"You're so mean Jos!" Analyn fumed. "You did that on purpose!"

"I didn't!" He retorted, as the others giggled at the scene.

As the two of them argued back and forth, Poko had seen a group of kids standing around where Meta was.

"What's going on?" She questioned, as she walked up towards the two bickering children.

"Ah.." The two looked towards the voice.

"Um.. Aunt Poko, I-" Before Jos could finish, Analyn interrupted him.

"He dropped the water on Meta on purpose!!" She yelled.

"What?" Poko exclaimed confusingly.

"He dropped water on Meta!" She explained.

"Not on purpose! I was tired!" Jos defended himself.

Poko scrunched her eyebrows. She looked around the children trying to find Meta.

"Where is he?" She questioned.

"Ah.." Analyn looked around, "He was just sitting here.."

Poko looked on the bench and saw the glowing white flower.

"Oh, he even left his flower behind.." Analyn mumbled.

"Alright, I'll have a talk with you guys later. Just go and finish your lunches first, and behave, OK?." Poko sighed, as she grabbed the flower and walked towards the exit door.
