PROLOGUE: The Author has decreed, that every Prologue must be filled with: Death and Destruction.
Evelyn does not know the last time she drank water. Nor does she remember how her final dinner at the Imperial palace looked like. But she knew that she was dying, and would soon turn to dust, like all those that came before her.
In front of her, was a devastated landscape. A world with no color. She knew everything was dead. Everyone was dead. But she had to climb. Step by step, putting one step forward, she walked the path before her. A winding path, which lead to the top of the mountain.
She stumbled. She fell. She marched. She fell again. She marched. Eventually, she reached the top. In front of her, was a grand temple. There, she allowed herself a short rest, to gather her strength. She leaned against a colossal skeleton. The remains of a dragon.
When she awoke, she stood once more and continued her march. At least, she tried. But she fell once more. Earlier, when she rose, she had supported her weight with her hand against the skeleton. But her hand shattered on the skull. It had faded to dust.
Despair colored her eyes. Then, when she blinked, what remained was determination. There were no tears to be had, no time to mourn. She was dying, but she had a mission to accomplish. She crawled, one hand dragging herself across the floor. With each pull, she felt more of herself fade, as the jagged remains of the earth ripped parts of her away. When her good arm broke into dust as well, she rolled. All the way until the gates of the temple, where she fell into despair once more.
In the past, doors such as these could be opened with a mere flick of the sleeve. Yet now, it barred her from her goal. She felt her legs beginning to fade. As she felt time wear away, she pondered about the past. Could things have been different? Could her world have been saved?
Deep she was, in the recess of her shattered soul. So deep in fact, that she didn't feel the Temple shake from the power of a thousand suns. Nor did she see the army of angels descend from the heavens, to lay judgement on the cursed temple. She could not hear the roar of bestial rage as the beast struck down the angelic soldiers. She could not smell the familiar scent of her cursed protector as he held her in her arms. She could not taste the vile blood that splattered her face and body.
She could sense nothing as she entered the eternal sleep. Not even when the demon devoured her. Instead, she dreamed. She dreamed of a time that she never valued, a time full of secrets she failed to explore, and time where her loved ones were alive.
CH 1: Oh good, you're awake.
I passed! I passed! I passed! Momma, Papa! Are you proud of me? I passed and I'm now part of the Tri-flame sect! I even have a master and 4 other older brothers and sisters! My master said that I can meet them tomorrow!
Oh that's right! I need to write this down too, just like momma said. I remember that momma told me that I have to write down everything, this way I can grow up faster and become beautiful, just like momma! So, this was the strangest thing today. When someone woke me up and said that we were arriving, I found myself holding a diary! I thought momma maybe gave me an extra diary on accident, because when I opened it, it was empty! It looked just like the one I'm writing in right now.
But someone had already written in the diary. The 1st page was filled already.... I didn't know what to do! Did I take someone's diary on accident while I was sleeping? Papa said I had a bad habit of rolling around while I sleep, so maybe I accidently picked it up? I showed the others, but they said it wasn't theirs. I tried very hard to find the owner of the diary. I did! But no one wanted it. So I kept it.
When we arrived at the sect, they started testing our spiritual roots and our... fig-sik? I don't know how to spell that word or what it means, but they said it a lot! It sounded important! They said that after the tests, we would find our masters!
The test took so long, so I was bored. Someone yelled at me to not fall asleep. I wasn't sleeping though! After getting yelled at for the 2nd time, it was finally my turn. My legs felt like jelly! I was so tired, and it was so scary. So many beardy old men, and pretty young sisters were looking at me as he guided me to a crystal ball.
He told me to put my hands on it. So I did. When I put my hands on the crystal, the crystal started flashing red and green, with 3 stars dancing inside the crystal. Then it was the next person's turn, and I had to wait for a long time again.
I was hungry. When it was all over, they had us all line stand in rows, apart from one another. Then the old men and pretty ladies went up to us and began taking people away. I was nervous, but the girl next to me told me that they were our masters and and they were going to teach us how to cultivate and live forever! Isn't that cool!
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
A not-so-old man sat in front of me. He told me he had two names! One was Peak Master Carefree, and the other... I forgot. He told me he would be my master and that I would become part of his family! I told him I already had a family with mommy and daddy and my many older brothers and sisters, but he said it would be a different family. Is that normal? Can I have two families?
When I nodded my head, he took me and flew away from there. It was so cool! I could see the clouds, and even some birds. He took me to a tall-tall peak, where there was 5 houses. He pointed to the biggest one and and said that was his. He also told me that the other 4 were the houses of my new brothers and sisters. He brought me to my room, and told me that he'd introduce them to me tomorrow.
I don't like the room that much. There was barely anything in it! Only a bed, a table, a chair, and a wall-thingy. So I put my stuff away onto the wall-thingy.
Then I read the diary that someone else wrote in. It was cool! Well, the writing was bad though, not pretty like yours, momma. The diary said that she also had her first day of joining the sect. and also met a kind man that became her master. Just like me, she was about to meet her new brothers and sisters tomorrow! But she lost her diary. I wonder if her new brothers and sisters are pretty and kind like what my master said about my new brothers and sisters? I hope that I find the person that wrote this soon. She must be missing it!
My hand hurts now, and I'm sleepy. I'll continue this diary tomorrow and tell you all about my new brothers and sisters. I'll keep write the date too, just like you taught me. Good night!
- 6th day, 3rd month, year 6531.
Mommy, Daddy... I can't sleep. I miss you. I'll be strong and I'll keep writing, and show you my diary when I come home.
- First entry of the restored remains of Evelyn's 1st diary. Found underneath the ruins of the Tri-flame Martial Hall.
CH 2: If a God pretends to be mortal, they shouldn't enact divine punishment without warning!
Have you ever wanted to cultivate? I did. In fact, I've always loved stories, and wanted to be the hero of my own. When I was elementary school, I watched too many movies and wanted to be a super cool spy.
Then I wanted to be a fire-fighter. Then a mech pilot. Then a mage. A wizard. A knight in shining armor. I wanted to save the princess, and slay dragons. Or be the last dragon-human alive and wield ancient magic.
Most recently, I've wanted to be a cultivator that can cultivate to immortality. But now that I'm here... I want to be normal again. I don't want to die, and have my soul and spirit obliterated, without an afterlife.
I mean, come on! I was a "good" Christian man, with my future set in stone. Happiness, joy and eternal life was waiting! But noooooo. I have to deal with the end of the world in a cultivation world.
Oh, did I say "cultivation world"? Oopsie I meant: Cultivation Multi-verse. I made a multiverse, spanning several universes, many realms, and many many more worlds that I did not detail. I even wrote about the after-genisis war, in which entire realms were destroyed. The 1st Great Expansion, and the 2nd Expansion epoch.
You may be wondering why I'm monologuing, or trying to tell me to get to the point. So here's the reason for my despair.
The world I just transmigrated to... happens to be a world in which two of the strongest factions will fight over. This world's gonna end. My only hope is that I can cultivate fast enough to escape before the intergalactic conflict reaches here.
You want to know how I ended up here? Well... read on!
My own editor, an internet friend from the interwebs, threw me into this story. He, or she, threw me to die in my own creation! Can you believe that? That's unjust. Long story short, he sent me an email about my storyboard idea I sent him earlier. He asked me if I was just writing for fun. Of course I was! I write during my job, and on my off-time, I play games. Who has time to seriously write a story?
As a self-conscious, self-knowing person, I knew my writing wasn't sufficient so I wrote casually instead. We argued a bit, and in the last email he sent me, he sent me a link. I clicked. And now I'm here.
I'm in this beautiful vast world, full of mystical sights and creatures. With the knowledge that everything's going to come to an end. But not the knowledge of HOW everything will come to an end.
That "editor" must've been some sort of god! What else can propel me into a creation that I wrote. And if I'm right, and it's God, or a god that sent me here... That's hella messed up!
That's divine judgement on my undeserving arse! At least give me a warning, or a chance to repent my wrongdoings! I've lived my life trying to do good... and here's how I ended up. In a very-likely-to-end-in-my-death death sentence in another world.
Luckily, I do have some things going for me. When I transmigrated here, I was going through the sect examinations for the Tri-Flame Sect, one of the top 10 sects on the continent, and one of the few rumored to have a Profound Sage-level Ancestor. Even better, I discovered that I'm a prodigy the likes this world has barely seen. I was immediately shuttled away during the examinations, to which I found myself discipled under the Sect Ancestor. Now, I'm one of 5 Legacy Disciples of the sect, directly taught by and inheriting knowledge from the Sect Ancestor.
Scratch-that, now I'm of 6 Legacy Disciples. We just got a new junior sister today, by the name of Evelyn. Apparently she has some circumstance despite her lacking spiritual roots and physique, but Eldest Brother was told to accept her as Master's last Legacy Disciple. She's not talented, but I believe she's a key character in this story. After all, the 2nd 3rd, and 4th disciples are my designated heroes of the story. I, the 5th disciple, also happens to be protagonist material. I'm
And for the record: I know the abilities of the 2nd thru 4th disciples but... I never wrote about the Eldest or this new 6th Disciple.
Whoever, or WHAT-ever threw me into my own novel must-have added them in. I'll have to find out their true capabilities and their loyalties, or I might die a sudden death within the sect.
Damn, I'm really not cut out for this.
