The Beast

Miss Subtleback caught her master and gripped him from opening the door, but oh, she couldn't accomplish.

The boy's topmost right hand pulled the handle down, opening it wide open.

The door gaped in its own darkness.

"Oh, Master! What have you done?!" the maid's voice had both concern and sternness in equal proportions. The young master's mind didn't hear her voice but focused on the movements before in the deep darkness, where animal sounds took place.

shwing!

Two circles of white darkness opened, focusing on the three. Circles transformed into animal eyes. The being rushed towards the door at a lightning.

Baaam!

Bricks, concrete and wood flew everywhere, enough to cause the maid a headache while tidying afterwards.

The trio flew backwards, landing one on top of the other. The impact that caused their flight was unknown, whether the shrapnel or the personal shock. Ouch! the dog was the first to land, lucky enough to be bottom of the pile of people. Hope Joodle didn't break any bones.

Did anyone break their parts ?

Aha! miss Subtleback has broken her nose, sad, as she can't boast her sharp nose anymore.

The young master raised his bottom from upon his maid's broken nose. He rubbed it for the sake of any injury that may have been born. He raised his head to look at the creature, drool fell on his face.

The beast grew silent, leaning forward into the light of the rolling candle.

It was everything that one would use to describe a beast, but it had more, so to classify it as a monster. The face was inhumane, harsh and humanlike, but the horns of stag protruding from its head made it more monstrous and distanced the face from its humanness. The skin looked burnt black and stinky green. Its muzzle had no control over its own secretion.

ugh! the dog covered his snout with his forelimb. Never had he in his whole life come across such a stench as the beast's.

'shock' was the dominant emotion that dripped with sweat and drool from the boy's face.

"Argh!" the beast roared, the winds from its jaws pulled and stretched the boy's face backwards. Poor Joodle flew further back.

"Could I, by any chance, awoke yourself from your slumber?", the boy timidly supplied the question, wiping his face with his hands.

He took thrice a step backwards. He didn't feel so sure about the beast's hunger because divine knows how many years of slumber.

The beast opened its mouth from which came coarse words, "Grrr- Pearl -Grrr- BLA PEARL! -Grrr- Throw -Grrr- Pearl away!!!", the erraticism made the boy incomprehensible to its speech.

It bulked its scrawny shoulders in a strainful manner and lunged for the boy's hands, but he instinctively dodged it, falling on the floor.

"Aaah", the beast's cries were of fear, regret and tragedy.

He rose and ran, jumping past Joodle, rushing to the exit that would shine that outside light. Despite not knowing anything about the navigation, He blindly zoomed past all the furniture, turns and obstacles.

The prowling beast chased him in desperation, disregarding everything that lay on its way. One of his hands, by some means, fell on the knob of the wooden gateway. He pushed it open, with the icy darkness that fell on him, ran forward. Fear pushed him further and further forward. He looked back to see the beast break open the wooden entrance. His feet ran until he crashed into a mobile metal.

Clang!

"Gaah!" the sudden disturbance surprised the knight and his horse. He pulled the rein to control the frenzy that had taken over his horse. Recovering from his confusion, he looked front and saw what seemed to be a boy and a dog.

"Huh. Boy, have your eyes forgotten the brightness of the morning sun? Can't you see a knight and his horse on their blessed path?" the knight rebuked. The boy stood up, rubbed his hurt pink nose and looked back at the flat grassland behind. The grass stretched until the horizon. He sighed.

"I apologize Sir knight for crashing in on your voyage, but my life seemed to be chased. I failed to notice your esteemed presence."

His topmost pair of limbs straightened his brown overcoat and the white shirt underneath, rest of his limbs brushed off the dirt from the brown pants. He then proceeded with a courteous bow. He faced the knight, only to find a pair of steel clad legs.

"Aaah!" screamed the boy.
