Chapter 1 This is my life now

Chapter 1

Jennifer was an average girl who enjoyed getting lost in fantasy stories, whether they were in books or movies. She loved the idea of putting herself in the shoes of other women and having the abilities to cast powerful spells. As she walked towards the bus stop on her way to work, she was deep in thought about the latest book her friend gave her. The book was about a girl who became a witch and had to figure out how break a-

Suddenly, she was jolted out of her daydream as she felt something hit her hard. It was a car that had lost control and hit her on the sidewalk. Jennifer was thrown several feet and landed with a thud, her head hitting the pavement.

"Ouch! Watch it, that really hurt!" She said, but something was off.

Jennifer's eyelids fluttered open, and she found herself immersed in an endless, dark abyss that was punctuated only by glimmering speckles of light that twinkled like stars. The icy stillness of the surroundings sent shivers down her spine, and she struggled to make out any details in the abyssal darkness. Yet, standing in front of her, a black cat stood regally, its form enshrouded in the eerie, ethereal glow of the glittering jewels adorning its body.

"Uh..." Jennifer was at a loss of words.

"Hello Jennifer," the cat spoke in a melodic voice that echoed around the room. "My name is Lady Beatrice, and I am here to thank you for saving my life all those many years ago."

Jennifer's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Lady Beatrice continued, "You may not remember it, but you saved me when I was just a simple homeless cat. I have been watching over you ever since, and now I wish to reward you with a way to stay alive."

Beatrice looked at Jennifer with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. "Jennifer, do you want to enter a tournament?" she asked.

Jennifer, immersed in absorbing all the information around her, was suddenly struck by the realization that she had perished. Her body tingled with a mix of dread and anticipation at the prospect of another chance at life. "I will do it, Beatrice," she declared firmly, without a moment's hesitation.

Beatrice smiled, her eyes gleaming. "Excellent! I knew I could count on you, Jennifer," she said. "The tournament will be a test of your skills, your cunning, and your bravery. You will be up against some of the most formidable opponents in all creation, but if you win, you will be granted anything your heart desires."

Jennifer felt a mix of fear and determination. She had always been a fan of fantasy stories, but she had never imagined that she would be a part of one.

Beatrice told Jennifer that she only has 53 seconds to join the tournament and pick a weapon. As Jennifer frantically looked through the room, she notices that all of the best weapons have already been taken. Feeling discouraged, she notices a small, ordinary-looking candle sitting on a shelf in the corner.

Beatrice tried to encourage her to keep searching, but Jennifer had a strange feeling that this candle was the right choice. She picked it up and immediately felt a sense of power radiating from it, the candle lit up.

Beatrice looked at the candle in disbelief, but then realized that Jennifer had made a wise decision. She was about to explain what the powers the candle had, when suddenly, Jennifer was alone in the void.

As Jennifer's eyes adjusted to the darkness, she noticed a strange interface floating in front of her. It looked like a holographic screen, with various options displayed in front of her. She saw the silhouettes of Angels, Demons, Humans, and many more species, however to her dismay, the only option left was that of a dirty swamp otter.

"Are you kidding me!?" D:

Jennifer felt a sense of despair wash over her. How could she possibly participate in the tournament as an otter? She had been counting on a more powerful and versatile form to help her win. With a few seconds remaining, Jennifer reluctantly accepted her fate as an otter and placed her hand on the screen.

Suddenly, Beatrice disappeared and Jennifer was all alone, a message appeared before her eyes. It was a system notification, explaining the rules of the tournament she had just entered.

According to the message, Jennifer and the other participants had been transported to a mysterious world. It was a fantastical realm full of magic, monsters, and endless possibilities. The terrain was varied, ranging from dense forests to barren wastelands, and the climate was unpredictable, with sudden storms and extreme temperatures. The participants would battle in this world with all their might. Only one person could be victorious.

The tournament was hosted by a group of enigmatic beings known only as the Elders. The Elders were a mysterious group that had been around since the dawn of time. They were powerful beings, capable of manipulating the very fabric of reality. No one knew where they came from or how they came to be, but one thing was certain - they were not to be trifled with.

Every one thousand years, they held a tournament to determine who is the strongest of that era. They gave the challengers, all sorts of relics and unique abilities to help them achieve their goals.

Jennifer learned that, a multitude of others were in a similar situation, pulled from the brink of death and given a chance to compete in the tournament. Among them were three heroes, each with their own unique and formidable abilities.

The first hero was a human named Drogan who wielded a massive great sword with ease. His strength was legendary, and his sword could heal him.

The second hero was a lithe and graceful elf named Alice, who was a master of archery and swordplay. Her agility and speed were unmatched, and she could move like the wind itself.

The third hero was a mysterious magician named Jack, who had control over all the elements. His spells were devastatingly powerful, and he could summon tornadoes and thunderstorms with a mere flick of his wrist.

"......."

Jennifer stared at the holographic map of the wold, her eyes scanning the various locations and terrain features. She had just received a system message telling her to choose a spawn point, and the pressure was mounting. She knew that choosing the right location could mean the difference between life and death in this dangerous new world.

As she pondered her options, Jennifer's eyes fell on a distant swamp in the distant part of the map. It was a desolate, uninhabited place, far from civilization. A grin spread across her face as she made her decision.

"I can hide there as an otter, that'll make me hard to find."

Without hesitation, Jennifer selected the swamp as her spawn point. She knew that by choosing a location as far away from the others as possible, she would have time to explore and gather resources before anyone else could find her. And if things got too dangerous, she could always retreat deeper into the swamp.

As the holographic map faded away, Jennifer closed her eyes and prepared herself for the journey ahead. She didn't know what kind of challenges awaited her in this strange new world, but she was determined to come out on top.

System Message.

Congratulations! You are now a Swamp Otter.
