Prologue: "The Exam that Decides it All"

"Ughhh!... I can't do this! This is way too much for me!". I said while scribbling away at the bunch of scrap paper I was using to solve the overly difficult exercises that I used to prepare for "The exam that decides it all" in the country i used to live in.

I was just 16 at that time and wasn't very smart. Although I did think that I was smarter than the average person, I was up against people who dedicated the last 5 years or something for this very exam. Whereas I spent my whole life having fun, goofing around and such. Even during the two years prior to the exam, which were considered to be the time one must and should start seriously preparing, I... I kept on procrastinating.

With less than a year left, I was panicking. Wondering what will I even do. I had no idea what I was putting myself into when I did all those useless things a year ago. If only I could just go back in time and tell my old self to study for real this time. But knowing me I'd probably, no, most definitely ignore my own warning and would've done the same thing anyway. And now, there I was, not even being able to solve problems considered "easy" by others.

The subjects one would've to prepare for this exam were namely Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Mind you, this exam was ranked number 2 in terms of difficulty in my world. Yeah, you heard me right. I referred to the "world" i lived in, in a way that could mean only one thing... I no longer lived in that world

I don't mean I died or anything like that but I was somehow transported into a different world.

It all happened during the month of March. With less than 10 months left, I was panicking even harder. To cool down a bit, I went for a walk in the neighborhood. This wasn't something that people who plan on taking on this exam usually do. While strolling, I casually put on my pair of wired earphones and started listening to a Japanese song. Yeah. I was a total weeb. Everything around me just reminding me of the things I really wanted to do. Seeing everyone so carefree and being able to do whatever they wanted, I couldn't help but feel envious of them.

There were a ton of things I wanted to do, like watching all the anime that I kept on adding to my "Plan to watch" MAL list, play the games i bought but never got to play, and such. I did also have a lot of different hobbies. From just making video games, to printing and hand binding books.  Now that I think of it, I really wanted to write a book of my own. Shame that I never got a chance to.

Well, anyway, as I was walking back to my home thinking I've wasted a lot of time, I saw someone telling me something. I couldn't hear what they were saying 'cause of the earphones I'd been wearing, but it felt like... He was warning me about something... I look around and find that a lot of people have gathered around me. Some warning me of something and some looking straight up terrified.

Wondering what was going on, I went on to remove my earphones. But as soon as I lifted just one side of my earphones, I heard...

        "███ ██"

I heard something that I couldn't even understand, not in a way of not knowing the right vocabulary but rather the actual sound. The sound felt awfully evanescent. Almost escaping out of my ears, in a way that I shouldn't even be hearing any sound at all. Right then, I saw my vision turn dark and left me unconscious.

I opened my eyes feeling absurdly exhausted, with a bright light gleaming right into my eyes as I open them up. With my vision still hazy,  I get up from the ground I was unknowingly laying on.

When my vision turned somewhat acceptable, I saw something. From the top of some sort of cliff that I was standing on, I saw a kingdom. Yeah, just like the ones in mediaeval ages. The ones with tall walls around it to safeguard against enemy attacks.

The biome I was in felt awfully unnatural. The trees were a pearl-ish shade of blue. Around them were creatures I never knew existed.  As far as my vision stretched, everything I could see lead me to one single thought

"It finally happened... The thing that I've only seen in anime... I've been transported into another world!!!"
