I was the kind of guy someone would write off as an NPC and forget about. I didn't have any features to make me stand out. I was a bit more muscular than the average guy and I don't think that I looked bad.
Before being "mysteriously transported" into this unknown world, I was wearing a plain white hoodie and a pair of black cargo pants- yeah, I know, my sense of style is pretty average. But anyway, that's what I "teleported" here with. My other possessions were the pack of gum I bought while on my stroll, my wired earphones, and my smartphone which still had around 60% of its charge left. I tried to see if there was any signal but there wasn't- figures. But! I had an ace up my sleeve. I had previously downloaded about 3/4th of the entirety of Wikipedia- which I thought was plenty.
"Alright! Now that I've analysed my starting gear, there's only one thing to do- check what kind of superpower I got after being 'summoned' here!", I said feeling a huge amount of excitement. But the excitement died quickly.
"Wait, how do I even do that? Maybe I can try out different things to check my superpower?"
I walked over to a tree nearby. The tree looked similar to a cherry blossom but had a gradient of pearl-ish blue and blue-ish green leaves.
"Alright! First up is super strength!". I pulled my right hand and punched the tree with all my might.
"I- I think it broke... My hand that is. Aghhh!! It hurts a damn lot!".
I hurriedly rubbed over my knuckles using my left hand to try and alleviate the pain.
"So super strength's ruled out. Maybe I've got something like super speed? Maybe super flight? Or maybe ...". I went on to try all sorts of different things that came to mind. But it was all for nothing.
Being worn out by all that running and what not, I sat under a tree for some shade. I looked up in the sky, "huh... The sky looks pretty much exactly how it looked back on earth. Although it seems a bit more clear than ours"
As I was lost in thought, my stomach started to grumble. "Hmm.. maybe I can go to the city I saw earlier and see for some food?. From what I saw earlier, the architecture seemed similar to the mediaeval architecture back on earth. Maybe there are creatures similar to humans here? I just hope I don't stand out."

I then made my way down the cliff. While doing so i noticed a few things: First, the flora here is similar to the fauna back home (although it has a completely different colour). Second, the animals here look completely different. Like the creature I saw hanging down a tree which looked like a mix of a bee and weasel and the giant blue wasp I saw far off in the distance. And finally third, the closer I got to the bottom of the cliff, the less creatures I saw.
After reaching the bottom, I followed the dirt path running across the plains on which the city was located. The path lead to a huge gate in the walls. I slowly walked up there and saw human soldiers guarding the entrance. There was a line of people wanting to go in. They were all being questioned and checked one by one.
The people were wearing clothes that looked like those of laynobles and messengers during the mediaeval era on earth. I overheard a few words here and there which pretty much seemed like English to me. Though there were a few words like "Liath" and "Renxall", which I suppose were proper nouns.
I waited for a while and saw a few people being rejected, but most of them got in. Me being socially awkward- just what was expected of a weeb, didn't speak to anyone and waited for my turn.
While waiting I tried to think of what I was going to tell the guard who's interrogating everyone. But even before I thought of anything close to acceptable...
"Next!"
"Huh? Me?"
"Yeah you. Who else could it be?!"
I awkwardly walked up to the guard. He was wearing metal armor. Although shiny, it had traces of daily wear and tear, though none that resembled any war wear and tear.
"State your name, city of citizenship, profession and reason for visiting Renxall"
So Renxall was the name of this city eh? Pretty fantasy-like name.
"I'm Rei. I'm from a country far to the east. I'm a traveller and wanted to stay in this city for a bit".
Although I was living in India, I was of Japanese ethnicity.
"Huh? East? There's no country to the east of Drachontrux. And where is your proof of identity? Do you have a letter of introduction? Don't you know you need to have a letter of introduction to get inside Renxall? Screw off I don't get paid enough for this!"
"B-But..."
"No buts! Now screw off!"
Me being unable to hold the conversation, walked back to near the cliff.
"Man! Now what do I do? I can't even enter the city. I think its name was 'Renxall'. And the other name mentioned, "Drachontrux", is probably the name of the country Renxall's in.
grrr....
My stomach continues to grumble while I look around to find something edible.
"Ughhh... If only there was some sort of 'system' here that would magically appear when I say 'Open System!'"
"Huh?"
