Tales of Raison
Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Within the Governor Mansion, a person knocked on the large wooden door. The doorway was flanked by two light armoured men, standing guard. The door opened and the person slowly made his way into the room using his walking stick.

Surprisingly it was a small room with minimal interior design. It was a windowless room with bookcases on all the sides. The bookcases were filled with books. In the far end of the room, sitting behind a desk was a woman.

The woman looked up, noticing the person who slowly walked towards her. She motioned for him to take a seat. A servant promptly helped the person to properly sit in one of the chairs.

The person handed a few letters to her.

"Their answers have arrived Madam" he informed her.

She took the letters and carefully read them.

"So they will be here at the end of this week which is good. They are great trading partners and Raison will develop more if we establish a relationship with them"

"I concur with that statement Madam Governor" the old man said.

The Governor put the letters on the table.

"Chief Minister Arslan, Raison should prepare something memorable for them. Something unique that shows the true essence of this city. Something, they will remember for the rest of their lives.

I expect it to be done. Spare no expense, use anything resources you want, but I want it done" she stressed her last words.

"I will see to it Madam Governor" old man Arslan confidently replied.

"Good… you may leave" she ordered before picking up another file from her table and began reading from it.

Chief Minister Arslan diligently made his way out of the Governor's office and slowly walked into his own.

His own office was a spacious room with open windows on opposite sides. It was filled with artwork and sculptors and in one section of the room was a large bookcase. His desk was in the middle of the room and two big sofas kept close to it. Each one was placed on opposite sides and a small table was kept in the middle.

He gently sat on his chair and took some blank papers out of one of his drawers. He wrote something in the blank paper before sealing it in an envelope and sealing it with wax and the Governor's insignia.

He rang on a bell which was kept on the table. An assistant walked into the room where he handed the envelope,

"Deliver it directly to the office of the Order Master, by the order of Lady Anita Srivats, the Governor of Raison".

The assistant promptly took the envelope and walked out of the room in a hurry.

Order Headquarters:-

There was a knock on the door and someone entered the room.

"Order Master, a message for you" announced the young assistant.

The Order Master was busy snoring on his comfortable chair when the knock on the door woke him up. He rubbed his eyes and yawned before acknowledging his assistant's presence in the room.

"What is it?" He asked while running his hands over his face and bald head.

"A message for your eyes only, Order Master" the assistant replied without hesitation.

"Hmmm" he yawned again and scratched his chest.

"It came from the Governor's Palace, Order Master" the assistant replied again.

Hearing the words of his assistant seemed to wake him up as he frantically grabbed the envelope from the assistant's hands.

"Leave" he ordered and his assistant quickly exited his office while closing the door behind him giving him much needed privacy.

The Order Master quickly opened the seal and read the contents carefully. It took him a few minutes to finish reading the messages.

He rang the bell kept on his desk. The same assistant from before knocked on the door and entered the office.

"Inform the members of the Planning Committee as well as the members of the Selection Committee to report at the Meeting Room within an hour for an emergency meeting" he ordered.

The assistant quickly walked out of the office to carry out the order.

Meeting Room:-

All seven members of the Planning Committee and five members of the Selection Committee including their respective chair persons sat quietly in the meeting room. All of them sat patiently around a long table.

“Anybody have any idea why we are here?” one of them asked others.

“Maybe the Champion is dead?” guessed another one.

“We received no word about that!” claimed another one.

The door of the room opened and the Order Master walked in with purpose and took a seat at the table.

He looked around the table and brought out an envelope and placed it on the table.

“This here is a direct order from the Governor through the table of the Chief Minister. Our city will host a high-level delegation of other cities at the end of this week and our Governor has tasked us to organise and hold a grand celebration in their honour” the Order Master informed them.

“Now, do we have anything planned for this week in our docket?” he asked.

“No Order Master, everything is set to begin starting from the next month. The Clash of the Orphan Invitational and later in the month, the yearly Harbinger Tournament." answered a person.

"Then we have to create one. The Governor has pledged the Srivats Arena for this celebration and the Chief Minister has noted that this time, The Order and the Governor's Palace will divide the gate income equally. So, I don't want to miss this chance."

The Order Master observed everyone in the room. This was an opportunity they shouldn't miss. This was a high profit opportunity they should not let go off.

"There is no time to plan a full fledged tournament" another person stated.

"But- but we don't need to plan a tournament. We already have the list for the Orphan class invitees and the families have already sent the names to take part in the Harbinger Tournament." Another member voiced her thoughts.

"What are you suggesting?" Order Master asked her.
