Chapter 1: the beginning

I was outside practicing my swordsmanship. Then I heard a familiar person talking to me.

“Hello, Fred what are you doing?”

I looked over and saw my childhood friend Rena standing there drenched in sweat. She had her bow on her back.

“I was just…”

I used my shirt to wipe my head.

“I was also practicing…”

“Do you want to go inside?”

“Sure, I could use something to drink”

I put my sword away and led Rena into the house.

My mother heard us coming in and came to the door. “hello, Rena how are you doing today?”

“I am doing fine how about you Rachel?”

“I am doing great”

I went into the kitchen to get us some water to drink I handed a glass to Rena.

“Thank you.”

I looked at my mother and Rena “I have something to tell you all”

“What is it dear?” my mother asked.

“I want to go on an adventure.”

My mother looked at me with worry on her face “why do you want to go on an adventure for?”

“I want to make my own path in life and to get out of the slums”

“If that is what you want son then I won’t stop you are 18 years old now”

I smiled at my mom and then Rena said “I am coming with you”

“Why do you want to come along with me?”

“We are childhood friends and I also want to make my own path in life.”

My mother smiled at us “If that is what you all want to do then go ahead, I will support your decision.”

I hugged my mom.

She looked at me “I will be right back!”

She left the room and came back a minute later holding a sword.

“This sword belonged to your father. I think you should have it.”

I took the sword and looked at it and it felt good holding it in my hand. I hugged my mother and kissed her on the cheek. “I love you, mom.”

“I love you too son, be careful out there.”

She turned around and looked at Rena “I always thought of you like a daughter that I never had you be safe out there as well.”

Rena hugged Rachel “thank you I will be careful too. and you have always been like a mother to me.

“When are you guys leaving?”

“I was thinking about tomorrow morning if that is ok with Rena.”

“Yes, that is ok with me.”

Rena left to pack her belongings. I hugged my mother again and went to pack also. Then I went to sleep.

The next morning, I was still in bed. Rena came into my room and woke me up.

“how long are you going to sleep?”

I grabbed her and put her in the bed with me “you can sleep in with me.” She giggled and laid her head on my arm and we both went back to sleep.

Rachel went into the room and seen them asleep together she smiled and shut the door and let them rest before they leave. I hope they will give me beautiful grandchildren one day.

We got out of bed a while later and asked Rena “was she ready to leave?”

“Yes, I am ready, are you?”

I nodded my head and we hugged and kissed my mother bye and started on our journey.

I looked at Rena and asked, “where should we head to first?”

“We should go to Xstowefra first it is the nearest town.”

I nodded my head and followed behind Rena. We got to the bridge and some big guy was there.

We tried to cross the bridge.

“If you want to cross this bridge then pay me 2 coppers each.”

Rena and I came from the slums and did not have any money.

“If you don’t have any money then let me play with that girl for a while then you all can pass”

Rena was 5 feet tall with long blond hair, blue eyes, slender body, with a modest chest. She is beautiful even if she did live in the slums.

“We will just go the other way around then,” I said.

An arrow shot from nowhere and almost killed me I looked around for the shooter but did not see anyone. Another arrow flew at me it missed. Rena pulled her bow out and shot an arrow in the tree-killing the shooter. I saw the big guy behind Rena, and I tried to run and tackle him away from her, but he hit me with a rock, and I got knocked out. I picked myself up off the ground a couple of minutes later and noticed Rena and the guy were gone. I saw her ribbon laying on the ground and knew which way they went.

I walked north a bit and seen a cabin then I heard Rena yell. I ran inside the cabin and seen the fat guy had Rena pinned down on the bed with her shirt off and boobs showing, and she had no pants on. I got so mad I ran at the guy with my sword and it went through his chest killing him. I dragged his body outside and went back into the cabin and looked at Rena. She is still half-naked, and I had a boner.

Rena ran up and hugged me “I was so scared Fred I did not want to be raped by that guy.”

I held her in my arms until she calmed down and she put her hand on my penis.

We laid in the bed and both became adults that night.

The next morning, we loaded the dead fat guy and sniper on the fat guy's horse that was tied to the cabin. We took the bodies to Xstowefra knight headquarters and told them what happened. They handed a bag of gold to me and said they were bandits and had a bounty. They thanked us for our help, and we left the knight quarters.

we went and got some new clothes then out to eat. It has gotten late so we looked for an inn to stay in. I booked a room for the night with warm water and breakfast.

We woke up the next morning stretched, got dressed and went downstairs to eat. We were eating and then an alarm went off everyone grabbed their sword, clubs, bows or whatever weapon they used and rushed to the town square. Rena and I did not know what was going on so we followed them with my sword and Rena with her bow.

We made it to the gates and seen a hoard of orcs and minotaur’s attacking. Everyone rushed to the gate hoping to kill as many orcs and minotaur’s as possible. Rena and I also went. We rushed into the hoard of monsters and was slicing and shooting arrows until I ran into a minotaur bigger than the rest. It punched me and I blocked it with my sword but was sent flying. Rena was raining down arrows on it. But it did nothing but pissed it off more and it started to charge at Rena.

I took my sword and sliced the back of the minotaur leg it yelled in pain and started chasing me again. All I could do is dodge. Rena kept shooting it with arrows while its attention was on me.

I yelled to Rena and asked, “how many arrows do you have left?”

She yelled “back and said 5.”

I threw some dirt into the minotaur eyes and made my way to Rena and whispered in her ear.

The minotaur was mad now it started charging us with its horns and swinging its mace at us. I kept dodging until the right time. The minotaur finally turned back around to face me with bloodshot eyes I yelled now. Rena shot an arrow out of her bow.

Bull's eye she hit straight in its left eye-blinding it. The minotaur went berserk hitting everything in its path. I went up behind it again and sliced its joints. It yelled in pain then Rena shot another arrow and it hit the other eye the minotaur was blinded now we thought we were in the clear.

The minotaur let an ear-piercing cry and started smelling the air charging at Rena. I could not get its attention back on me. It was a striking distance from her. It tried to attack her, but she jumped and rolled out of the way notched another arrow. she shot the minotaur left foot and then the right foot pining it to the ground where it couldn't move. I jumped on the minotaur's back and swung the sword down with all my might and the head of the minotaur rolled to the ground.

I fell off its back on to my ass then heard cheering. I looked up to see minotaur's and orcs retreating and people surrounded Rena and me.

The town people helped me and Rena up from the ground with surprise. They took us back to the adventurer guild to wait on the Leader. The leader entered the room and looked at us and said: “not many people can kill a minotaur guard without 5-6 people.”

“I am happy that you all arrived in the town when you did. All our rank c and up are out now doing other missions and no one in the town is not at the rank of killing a minotaur guard.” I looked at the adventurer guild leader and just smiled.

“since you all killed the minotaur leader in this raid and killed 20 orcs and 10 regular minotaur's the adventurer guild shall award you with 70 coppers for the orcs and minotaur’s and an extra 1 gold piece for killing the boss.”

I jumped out of my chair. “1 GOLD PIECE? ARE YOU SERIOUS? One gold piece is enough to feed a family of 4 for a year.”

The guild master looked at us and just smiled “it is only normal for us to reward the ones that took out the boss. Then he wrote something down on a piece of paper and handed it to me and told me to turn it in at the front desk and that we are dismissed.” I got out of my chair and bowed and left the room.

We made it to the front desk and handed the paper to the person on the other side. She smiled and handed me a small pouch and whispered “don't open it till you are somewhere safe” then looked around the room.

After we got our pay, we returned to the inn.
