If anyone looked up now, they would be naturally shocked, the blue sky was no more and a red glow descended onto the land. The beautiful green grass similarly looked red due to the glow of the sky.
As Shaun looked at the planet that took over a large portion of the sky, he sighed. He had only just gotten back, he wasn’t sure why or how, but he did. And now he had to go through the end of humanity again.
But perhaps there was hope, even though he didn’t recall everything from his past life, but he recalled enough. Enough to perhaps make a real difference. Or at least to figure out a way to get himself and his family off of this planet.
As he stood there in silence, Ava had her mouth wide open as she looked at the sky, “This- Is this the end of the world?”
Before Shaun could answer her, the ground beneath their feet shook. The shaking caused them both to fall onto the ground and a few seconds later it stopped as if it never even happened.
|Welcome to the System|
|Please state your name|
The voice appeared in both of their heads and appeared in blue boxes in front of them at the same time.
“This- What is going on!?” Ava panicked as she stood up, the box following her ascension.
As she looked over to Shaun she noticed a similar box in front of him, though she couldn’t see any text on it.
Before she could panic any further, a calm voice permeated through the air.
“My name is ‘The Conqueror’”
When the blue screen appeared in front of his eyes, Shaun thought back to his previous life. He was talented when it came to the system, favored even. But there was a reason he never got truly close to being the strongest. He didn’t have a force behind him, he didn’t have an alchemist that could make all the potions he needed, he didn’t have enchanters to upgrade his gear, he didn’t have scouts to alert him of what places would have the most benefits.
There were many reasons why those at the top all had factions behind them, other than those already mentioned, there was one that was more important than any of the others. The system favored leaders above all else, and since it did, they got further than anyone else.
So, at this moment where he had to pick his name, he had already decided, he didn’t just want to be stronger than in his previous self, he didn’t just want to become one of the strongest, he wanted to become strong enough to change the faith of the human race.
“My name is ‘The Conqueror’”
And so his voice rang out.
“Shaun? What are you saying?” Ava asked, still clearly bewildered by all that was going on.
Shaun smiled at her, ignoring the new box that had popped up as she looked her in the eyes. “Look at the sky Ava, recall the feeling of the Earth shaking in defiance. The world is about to change and we will have to change with it. The name is but the first step. But it can also be seen as the most important. Your name is what you are, your being in its entirety.”

Ava looked at Shaun with a stupified expression, his words sounded like those of a crazy person, surely anyone would be able to acknowledge that, but when she looked into the depths of his green eyes he didn’t look crazy, no, he looked confident.
Shaun sighed inwardly as he looked at the world above, he thought about his previous life and the actions he took back then before looking back to the blue screen before him.

—-------------------------------
Looking at the screen before him, Shaun had to admit he was somewhat surprised. Since he didn’t recall what his stats were like when he first began his journey, the low-end physical stats caught him somewhat off-guard. Then again, the high will more than made up for it even if he was pretty sure it wasn’t that high initially in his previous life.
The physical stats such as Strength, Dexterity, Endurance, and Vitality worked just as advertised. Strength made ones body stronger, Dexterity allowed you to move your body with more accuracy and speed, endurance made your skin and bones tougher while Vitality kept you free from diseases and allowed your body to go through more injuries before giving out.
As for the mental stats such as intelligence and will, they were a little more complicated. Intelligence increased your reasoning and sped up your thought process, however, it could also allow you to generate magic within your body if you managed to either get it high enough or stimulate it in some other way.
As for will, it was the most complicated of all. A high will allowed you to keep calm in tense situations, on the other hand, it also increased your creativity and the handling of your magic. It could allow you to see a traumatic sight and be less affected, however, if the sight or action was too much for you to handle even then, it was possible for the stat to decrease by the dozens in just a single day. It was the stat that was the simplest to raise but also to lose.
It had to be said that the main reason that even nearing the end of the world, most people there couldn’t do proper magic was because of will. Some started on the path of magic but after losing a friend, being hurt, or seeing a traumatic sight they ended up losing most of their will, this sometimes happened multiple times over so most gave up on magic.
As Shaun was thinking of these matters, Ava looked at the red sky above them for a few moments before turning back to the blue screen in front of her.
“My name will be ‘The Red Eve’.”
Hearing Ava’s exclamation behind him, Shaun was surprised but didn’t think of it too much. As he recalled in his previous life she was unsure of what was going on and just stated her own name. Right now only Shaun knew how important it was to choose a name that had meaning instead of the one you were born with, even if it would take a long time before it came into effect.
As Shaun was about to talk with Ava, he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. Looking over at Ava she seemed to have the same thing happening as they both took out their phone at the same time. They had only just done so when a voice came out of the other end.
“THIS IS A STATE OF EMERGENCY, ALL CITIZENS ARE ASKED TO STAY INDOORS, STEER CLEAR FROM HIGHLY POPULATED AREAS FOR AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.”
Hearing the loud voice come out of their phones, it was clear the government had taken action spreading the message to everyone that had a phone. And Shaun had to admit they had been extremely quick. It had only been about ten minutes since the virus arrived and they already managed to send through the message despite many civil servants most likely already having been turned into mindless zombies.
Turning off his phone, Shaun looked at Ava. Without explaining anything he said calmly “Time to get hunting.”
