Greetings, Humans!
The System has taken a liking to your planet. The problem is that humans are destroying it. To prevent it, we have conjoined multiple worlds with yours and now you must fight monsters out of your nightmares to survive. Don’t worry though, we will provide a safeguard for you. You have the ability to gain classes like in your video games, which can allow you to have a chance to fight back against the monsters. Good Luck! You’re going to need it.
The System
Ugh, the medicines were acting up again. Showing me illusions is pretty common, though splashing my face with water would usually fix it. Hi, I’m Martyn, part-time blade master and part time pet lover. I was a retired army soldier because of the loss of an eye in a skirmish. I lived in the woods with my dog, away from all the humans. I used to live in the city earlier, but most of my pets kept dying young because of the pollution in the city, forcing me to live in the woods with my last pet, a Siberian husky by the name of Bear, because he was huge, larger than the normal height for his breed. Anyway, back to the hallucinations, I went to the bathroom to wash my face, but even when I closed my eyes, I could see the message. I slapped myself to wake me up if it was a dream, but I felt the pain and the message still didn’t go away. I started to panic. Fear that it all could be real settled in. I then felt something itchy in my blinded eye, which soon turned into screams because of the pain. After coming to my senses, I saw, literally and figuratively, with my right eye. It was fine, my right eye had gotten healed. I started to cry. It always pained me when I remembered my right eye, which was almost every second of my life. It was a huge thing for me for another reason. Mentioned that I was a blade master, right? Even though I’m probably the best in the world, I couldn’t use blades earlier because of my eyes.
Bear came running to me. He started to lick my face to comfort me and I hugged him back. I realised that it was all true, that the message was real, and many people were about to die. Another message appeared in front of me.
You are in a forest, there will be more amount and types of zombies you will face for the first round.
You have a weapon with you, the difficulty of the first round will increase again.
You have an animal companion with you, difficulty of the first round will increase again.
Because of the increased difficulty, your weapon has become scalable.
Because you have the max possible difficulty, you have received +2 to every stat!
I was surprised and scared. It was no shock that I had a weapon, but I didn’t expect rounds of fighting fricking zombies! Well, since I had a katana, I didn’t particularly care because I could easily kill them. But what was this scalable thing, and stats? I then felt a burning pain in my body. I started writhing on the ground. After what felt like an eternity, I could stand up again. I felt reinvigorated, like I could do anything I couldn’t earlier. I then thought that it might have because of the stat upgrade. I remembered that the first message said something about a game, and I had read enough of these kinds of novels to know what to do. I thought of Status and a page appeared, just like I had predicted.

Most of the stats were pretty self-explanatory, but the luck confused him. It should have a value, but it didn’t. Eh, no need to be that careful about it. I then went outside the house where I heard Bear barking at something. I then rushed in and brought my katana, which I had named Steelflame, because it was forged from the best material to forge from.
I then realised it was a zombie, and I immediately chopped at its head. I thought it would have easily decapitated it, but it got stuck halfway, I kicked Steelflame, after which it fully went through.
Then all hell broke loose. I looked around and saw many zombies constantly rising out. It was terrifying. I ran towards the closest zombie, which was a zombie bear. I tried attacking its neck but in a surprising feat of agility it dodged my blade and got hit on its ear. It did not stop me as I then attacked the head. It was not nimble enough to dodge that and my attack went through its head, destroying its brain and killing it. I pushed the zombie off my blade and rushed towards the next one, when I saw 2 zombies attacking Bear. I grew angry. I changed my direction mid-way and rushed towards the zombie which was about to hit Bear.
I went from behind and hit it on its head. I died, giving Bear a breather. Expecting him to finish the zombie off on his own, I went to fight more zombies when I saw how massive the zombie horde had become. At a single glance, I could see around 50 zombies, with more even behind them. I felt terrified but after seeing Bear, I couldn’t let him turn into a zombie. I braced myself for the long battle.
I rushed towards the zombies and turned into a whirlwind, opening myself to low attacks but also giving myself enough momentum to cut through the zombies in one stroke. I felt an ominous feeling behind my back, but after stopping spinning I became a bit dizzy. Seeing it was a zombie wolf behind me about to hit me, I barely parried it and ran away. I wanted to recuperated for a bit, away from the zombies, but they were too fast, instantly arriving near me.
Then I saw something that made me go crazy. There were some zombies near Bear who had a leg torn off. I had only cared for myself and did not look after Bear. I swore to myself right there and then that if Bear survived, then I would treat him like I would treat my family and would protect him.
I lost my consciousness in my rage and the last thing I remembered was saving Bear, then everything turned into a blur of blood and gore.
When I woke up, I felt around for my bed but then realised what had happened and rushed towards Bear. I checked his pulse and found out that he was alive. A message then suddenly appeared in front of me.
Congratulation Earthlings!
Only 60% of your population died!
You have unlocked the Galactic Shop function where you can spend your Galactica Coins (GC). You can buy anything your heart desires, from zombie wound cures to cybernetic implants. But only if you have enough GC.
After seeing this message, I rejoiced. I looked at my GC count and saw 10000 GC. I immediately tried to say shop to open it, but it didn’t work. I then remembered about Bear and tried to staunch his bleeding. I tore my shirt and put it around the ripped leg. The bleeding stopped after 5 minutes but Bear was still unconscious. I carried him into the house and after coming saw another message. These were getting old real fast.
Round 2 has started!
Kill the Baby Wyrmling or die!
Okay, so what was this baby wyrmling? I got my answer in the form of a huge form coming out from the trees. I t was easily the size of a mining truck and, from what I could see, strong enough to easily destroy one. I wasn’t that easily scared but I felt terrified. I wanted to escape but remembering the plight of Bear, I couldn’t abandon him. I got rid of my fear and mentally prepared myself for the tough fight ahead.
The fight started when I started running towards it. It swiped its paw (hand claw?) towards me but I dodged it. I ran towards its tail but instead it tried to whip me with it. Even though the tail had missed, the wind was enough to hurt my eyes and put a little gash on my clothes.
I then started towards its paw and then when it tried to hit me again with it, I tried to hold on to it to climb him. I was successful for a bit but then it opened its mouth and knowing that it would be dangerous, I jumped off at the last second. I wanted to damage its play but the fire had only charred the paws of the wyrmling a bit from what I could see. I couldn’t see any weak spots of the dragon other than its eyes, so I sneaked into the forest and rushed towards its back.
After jumping on its back, I rushed towards its head. I stabbed towards its eyes but something suddenly hit me like a train from behind. I fell in my house, making a hole in it. I tried standing up but even breathing was getting tough. I think back and remember the only reason I survived was because I had gained a +2 to all stats. My thoughts were clouded but there was one thing I couldn’t let happen, the death of Bear. I gained a rush of clarity. I rushed towards the wyrmling with greater vigour that before and dodged everything the beast tried to hit me with. I jumped and threw my sword at its eyes with all my strength. It instantly pierced its eyes and probably pulverised its brain. I then passed out.
