Chapter 2: Bloodlines and Cybernetics

Chapter 2: Bloodlines and Cybernetics

I was awoken by the sound and sensation of someone slurping on my face. I assumed it was Bear and removed him from the top of my head and sat up. While checking my surroundings, I found a structure that looked too sleek to be made by humans. I tried to figure out what it was but my best guess was that it was the system shop. I gathered my breath, petted Bear and carried him into the shop with me. While going I checked GC counter and found out that I had over a hundred thousand GC. I figured it would be from the wyrmling. I went into the shop and saw a furr… beastman. He was probably half fox or something.

“Welcome Martyn, to the system shop. Where you can buy anything your heart desires for the right price!” he said.

“Umm… Hi.” I responded

He had black skin which I think was pretty rare for a fox. He had 2 small furry ears, while he also had 2 tails. His words carried a charisma that was only present in world leaders.

“We can provide you with an option to save Bear’s leg. But it will cost you more than the money you currently have. I have 2 options. One is a cybernetic enhancement. This will turn your pet into a Cyborg-Dog. So… what do you choose?” the foxman said.

I was surprised that he knew Bear’s name but I was more surprised about the two options. Both were enticing to say the least. One could probably transform Bear into a huge beast whereas the other one could turn Bear into a laser shooting dog. Both sounded interesting. I couldn’t make a decision.

“Can respond to you later when I have enough money? Just tell me the minimum price for the options.” I said.

“Ok Martyn. What else would you like?” he asked.

“Can you recommend what would be most essential to me at this time?” (Martyn)

“Well if you would ask me then I would suggest that you buy a portable shop and a portable class nexus. They would allow you to access the shop and class options from anywhere where the system has an influence. The total cost would be 50,000 GC including the strongest discount.” He said

“Ok then I’m trusting you with this. And what is the strongest discount?” (Martyn)

“The strongest discount means that you are one of the strongest humans on this planet and that means you get a discount for any items you purchase. The strongest title also shows up in your achievements page.” (Foxman)

I immediately opened my achievement page and viola; there the Strongest title was. Its description said

Title: Strongest (Human-Earth)

You have proved yourself to be one of the strongest humans on the planet.

50% discount to all your shop purchases

Title can be upgraded

I was surprised at the last part of the description. It said the title could be upgraded, which meant that if I became the strongest person on this planet, then I could get an even bigger discount.

I then also bought the items he had recommended. One interesting bit of information he had told me was that we could select our class at level 25 and then evolve it at level 50, then level 100, then level 150, and so on.

I opened just my level as the foxman had advised me.

MARTYN CLIVE

LEVEL: 14

I was surprised and a bit sad at my level. I had defeated so many enemies and I monster that I think was at least level 50, but I had only gotten to level 14.

“Hey…” (Martyn)

“Call me Xer” (Xer)

“Hey Xer. Why did I get so less levels for beating such strong enemies? I think I should have at least gotten till level 20.” I asked him.

“The experience you received was reduced grandly because it was the integration part of the tutorial. In the class selection part, you will be able to receive experience normally.” He said.

I was okay with that. I then asked him what else should I buy. He told me to upgrade the material the sword was made of. The material of the blade greatly improves the damage of the blade. I asked how much the price of the best metal was but he told me that I had to mine them myself and could give them to Xer to add to my blade. I bought a mining skill called Limitless Mining. It was slow to level but I could mine any ore with it, making it super useful for mining new ores that maybe pretty good.

“Hey, also because you are probably the only one to kill a dragon, however it may be related to one, you have gained the recognition of the dragon gods and you can partake in trials of different difficulty to gain rewards.” Said Xer.

“I am interested, but what is in it for me?” I asked.

“I can only reveal the details after you accept the trials.” He said.

I immediately accepted the deal. He then said, “You can partake in the test with your dog. It will undergo a test like yours. The trial difficulties from lowest to highest are Easy, Hard, Insane, Freak, Monster, Impossible. The maximum award you can get is 2 bloodlines with one customisable one. You dog, Bear, will undergo a test given to it by the Cerberus patriarch, with the same rewards. You will not be giving the test together. This will be a test of your mind, spirit, body, and heart. So, what will it be?”

I immediately responded, “Impossible difficulty.” I looked towards Bear and saw the same determination I had. Xer said nothing but I could see that he had trust in us that we could do it.

I suddenly felt disoriented and before I knew I was looking at me, a younger me. I was looking very sad and heard the voices outside. I remembered what day it was. I suddenly felt weak at the knees.
