The Night Passes!

The Night Passes!

Night fell and Lillian was sleeping. Rachel and Jason were up, keeping watch.

Rachel noticed his tears earlier that day and she knew that look all too well.

Jason had lost someone important to him and she understood what he was going through right now.

Rachel sat beside him, neither saying a word to the other because they knew that loss was the one thing constant in life.

"Are you alright?" Rachel broke the silence and Jason quickly picked himself up, she was far too close and he could peak at the top of her cleavage, her breasts were quite big to be fair so it was hard to miss.

Jason, however, could not get it up even if he wanted to because he was rather sad.

"I am okay," Jason responded awkwardly, he looked panicked and Rachel kept quiet.

All she did was put her hand on his back, this was her way of telling him that she was there for him whenever he needed to talk.

She hasn't seen Lillian react the way she did for years, Lillian has always been a recluse with a phobia for people so seeing her going out of her way to help Jason.

Rachel saw this as an opportunity to get back the little sister that she had lost due to trauma and that in turn made Jason important to her.

Jason didn't know when he began to cry, the tears just started pouring and neither said a word to one another, it was met with silence but the silence was comforting.

The sun rose and Rachel passed the night, sleeping on Jason's shoulder but Jason couldn't catch a wink.

He stayed up all night despite being the one that needed it the most but his paranoia wouldn't allow him to sleep; he managed to get some when both Lillian and Rachel woke up.

Rachel didn't look embarrassed from sleeping on his shoulder which surprised Jason because if the tables were turned, he would certainly be ashamed of this.

"Dipshit! Wake up! We are leaving!" This foul mouth, it had to be Lillian.

Jason's eyes opened and noticed that both had changed clothes, Lillian wore a black long-sleeve shirt with baggy trousers.

Jason noticed her freckles, she looked rather innocent but appearances were deceptive.

She had lived quite the life judging from her scars and one doesn't get scars like that and survive without being forced to assume a role that wasn't fit for their age and that meant, growing up.

Rachel, on the other hand, wore a crop top of a different colour. She liked showing off her body and who could blame her, she was fit as fuck but it also made it easier to move in.

Less clothes meant there was less for zombies or people to grab, it was a smart move when looked at in hindsight. Jason noticed her blue denim short shorts, Jason was surprised that a white girl could have an ass that big.

"Hello to you too…" Jason greeted Lillian. They had already packed and before Jason could even get to his feet, a bag collided with his face.

Rachel had thrown it, Jason was a third wheel and they expected him to be useful at least, even if it meant just carrying the bags.

The good thing about Jason's physique was that he had an intimidating presence and this would make people think twice before attacking them.

He was like a buffer for violence but this was a man that even she could knock out so there was nothing to write home about his strength.

"You could have at least handed it to me!" Jason barked but Rachel wasn't even paying attention as she gestured for Jaosn to come to her.

They both went into a different part of the compartment and Jason wondered if she wanted to apologize but she grabbed him by the hair and yanked him towards her.

The pain shot through his body but what brought about this sudden bout of violence?

"If you fucking touch me or my sister, I will make your life a fucking nightmare!" Rachel threatened him and Jason could tell with a look that she meant every word that came out of her mouth.

He understood her need to protect her family. Jason knew women were the most vulnerable because the default gender roles that nature and centuries of archaic thinking had cultivated were now a part of life.

"I-I will never do something to you two! You saved my life!" Jason said and Rachel let go of his hair before adjusting her clothes.

"After we robbed you and you saved ours…" Rachel sighed. Jason might be a good person at heart but he was still a human being.

Humans couldn't be trusted, Rachel and her younger sister learned this the hard way.

Rachel was approximately twenty-five-years old, four years older than Jason but her youthful appearance made her look like she was approximately the same age as Jason.

Jason heard her message loud and clear but it wasn't up to him.

Jason hoped that the system wouldn't do anything crazy that would make him harm them but it was kind of strange calling it "system"

Jason was realizing how ridiculous it sounded at the moment.

Rachel walked out of the room but not before telling Jason to better follow right behind her.

She was quite well-mannered compared to her younger sister and Jason was surprised Rachel didn't put her in place.

They hadn't even introduced themselves yet but Jason heard them speak to one another so he didn't need a formal introduction but he needed to tell them his name.

"System, what is your name?" Jason whispered under his breath, he didn't need to but it was a force of habit and made interacting a lot easier.

[You May Call Me Chronos!]

The system responded and Jason was satisfied with this as he followed behind Rachel because she just demonstrated that she wasn't afraid of putting her hands on people.

Jason knew that his journey had begun and it involved these two ladies.
