System Of The Undead
Jason's First Trial

Jason's First Trial

The zombie apocalypse had begun and Jason found himself facing two zombies, the system deemed their threat level to be high but this was measured with his current stats.

If his stats were to increase then the threat level of this specific type of zombie would reduce.

Jason ran to his kitchen before the zombie could get in, he needed a weapon and what better weapon than a knife.

Jason thought about running but the last thing he needed was for his stats to be affected, he grabbed the knife in the nick of time.

However, one look at the zombie made him freeze in fear, the zombie was a lot more intimidating than he thought it would be. It was a pity that such a handsome man was reduced to this but the maggots crawling through the wound on his face made Jason want to throw up but he held it down. This man has been dead for some time.

The lifeless eyes and the pale skin were a sight that could make an atheist find God.

Jason was shaking, he couldn't bring himself to do it because one mistake and that would be his fate. Thinking about it made him want to piss himself but he stayed strong.

He gulped as the zombie began walking towards him, growling and the other one that had broken through in his sitting room also made its way into the kitchen.

Jason's house was nothing fancy, it was filled with things he only considered a necessity and nothing else out of the ordinary, this was his saving grace.

He didn't want to die and he held on to dear life to remain sane, Jason pulled down his fridge to block the path of the zombie that was coming from the sitting room but this also limited his options for an escape.

Jason has never been good with conflict and it was safe to say he was a coward when push came to shove, to escape the competitive real world, he secluded himself from it.

He chose to live an unfilled life, a life that would be forgotten the moment he dies because he wouldn't have made any useful impact.

Jason was having a panic attack, his heart was beating and the air going through his lungs reduced significantly. His knees buckled and his vision became blurry.

This was the worst possible outcome and the zombie was within grabbing distance.

"Is this how I fucking die!?" Jason couldn't believe that he couldn't even survive the first wave but he saw it fitting for a loser such as himself, he was no main character.

He was the character that was used to set up the story and then forgotten.

[Ding!]

[Skill: Cool As A Cucumber Available!]

[Purchase For 10 EXP? Y/N?]

Jason didn't even know what this meant but it would all be useless if he died so he accepted the condition. The moment he did, the panic ceased.

"Wait, what?" Jason thought, he quickly checked his stats to see which stat he sacrificed and it was the stat he had gotten for killing the girl.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

He was calm and could think things through, he chuckled at how absurd this was, he knew zombies were killed when stabbed in the brain so this shouldn't be any different.

Jason grabbed his knife and lunged at the zombie but due to the distance, a tussle ensued.

The zombie was strong for something that was in the process of rotting.

The zombie managed to get on top of him and this was the worst possible scenario to be in as it tried to nick his neck with its teeth.

The way it was seated on Jason made it hard for him to breathe, he had done the smart thing by separating them because there was no way that he could handle both of them simultaneously.

Jason could not understand how freakishly strong this zombie was until now, his hands were around the zombie's neck. He didn't know how the infection spread so he didn't want to risk it.

Jason soon saw an opportunity, the zombie managed to break through his hold but missed his neck, jamming its teeth into the floor.

Jason used this chance to stab the zombie right in the temple, making sure it penetrated his skull/ And just like every zombie since the history of time, this was enough to put it down.

Jason pushed it off him and for some reason, he was feeling confident in killing the other zombie.

Jason did not regret purchasing that skill because his mind was now clear, he instinctively knew what he needed to do to calm himself down.

Is that what the system meant by he would be given the manual? Was his body knowing how to do it instinctively? Even though this skill was not difficult to learn, Jason was getting an understanding of how the system worked.

Removing the bloodied knife from the zombie's head, Jason stumbled towards the door with resolve. The zombie's blood had stained his shirt, mixing in with the dried-up beverages that had spilt on his shirt.

Jason powered through, managing to shift the fridge back and the door barely opened, the zombie clawed its way, trying to squeeze itself inside the room.

But this created the opening that Jason was looking for as the zombie could only fit half of its body through and luckily, its head was among the parts that got stuck.

This made his next course of action a lot easier as he jammed the knife into the zombie once again, killing it.

[Reward: +20 EXP!]

Jason slumped to the floor the moment everything was done, his house had been compromised, and he could not stay here anymore but it did not mean he did not have time to pack what he thought he would need short-term.

"I just fucking killed two zombies… Bring on the fucking horde!" Jason was hyped, screaming before quickly covering his mouth.

"...After I leave, of course…" He whispered to himself.
