Chapter 5
❄ The Underworld's Fury ❄

A blizzard raged atop the mountain of Athens. the winds howled as Rime, Mia, and Arthur pressed on. Despite being bundled in many layers of clothing. Mia shivered, teeth chattering, as she climbed the mountain. The cold seeped through her clothes, making each step a battle. The weather was relentless, but she pressed on. She used her fire powers to warm her hands, seeking a bit of comfort from the biting cold.
"Ugh, why on earth did we have to end up in this terrible, forsaken location?" Mia grumbled, huddling close to Rime for warmth. "I mean, couldn't we have just found a nice, warm beach to do this mission on?"
Arthur's eyes narrowed as he turned to Mia. "You still don't comprehend the magnitude of our mission, do you, kid?" he said with a hint of annoyance in his voice. "Our goal is to capture the Sinners, not to relax on a beach. But first, we must destroy the gates of Hades."
Rime looked at Arthur, his expression curious. "Hades? Who's that?" he asked.
Arthur let out a sigh. "Hades. Guardian of the underworld. One of the five Sinners," he explained. "But the gates to the underworld don't exist in one place. They spawn in multiple locations. So our first priority is to destroy them, or else the creatures of Hades will keep pouring out."
After what felt like an eternity, the three finally reached a cave inside the mountain. Ahead of them loomed a huge gate, oozing with a dark chi that sent shivers down their spines.
Arthur's demeanor changed instantly. He became serious, his past as a young agent flooding back to him. "This is it," he said in a hushed tone. "The gate to the underworld. Our task is to destroy it
As they neared the gate, a figure came into view. It was a man standing on top of a pile of defeated underworld creatures. His blue hair and black eyes were a striking contrast to the crimson hue of the blood and gore covering his body. He was dressed in a traditional Japanese school uniform, with a karate gi. The man's katana, also stained with blood, further emphasized his ferocity.
Arthur cautiously halted Rime and Mia from moving, as they gazed upon the scene before them.
Rime watched in awe as he looked at the man on top of the pile of dead creatures. He couldn't help but think to himself, "Who is this person? Did he kill all of these creatures by himself?" A wave of worry washed over him as he wondered what kind of power and skill it would take to accomplish such a feat. He kept his eyes fixed on the man, unable to look away as he wondered what their next move would be.
Arthur stepped forward, looking straight at the man. Despite the casual tone in his voice, there was a hint of worry in his expression as he addressed the man. "Hey, Shin, I see you've taken care of all the creatures. No wonder we haven't seen a single one while traveling, huh?"
"............."
"Hey, how abou-"
Arthur's words were cut off as Shin's katana whizzed past him, nicking the edge of his coat. Shin landed the killing blow on the last creature and In one fluid movement, he then leaped from the pile of bodies, reclaiming his sword and winter coat in the process. Arthur's eyes widened in surprise, as he took a step back, his words forgotten.
Arthur regained his composure and grabbed Shin by the collar, lifting him off the ground. His eyes narrowed as he spoke with a menacing tone. "Hey! when someone talks to you, you fucking listen. Asshole."
Rime and Mia looked on in confusion, unsure of what was happening. They had thought that they were all on the same team. but this sudden outburst was making them second-guess that assumption. They stood nervously, waiting to see how this situation would unfold.
Shin Tanaka seized Arthur by the arm, his eyes narrowing as he focused all his attention on him. His voice was low and menacing, "If you wish to engage in a fight, I am ready to oblige right now." His tone left no room for doubt, as though he were daring Arthur to make the next move.
Arthur's grip on Shin's collar was firm and unyielding, his eyes blazing. Both men grinned as they prepared to engage in combat. Rime and Mia tried desperately to stop them, to no avail. The two men were relentless, shouting in unison, "Fuck off!" The atmosphere was electric, crackling with intense energy. The auras of both men pulsed with raw power, as they stood on the brink of a fight.
However, their attention was quickly diverted as the ground beneath their feet began to shake. A low rumble filled the cave, growing louder and louder until it was clear that the sound was coming from the Gate. The massive stone doors were slowly opening, and a shadowy figure was emerging.
Rime looked on in horror, sweat beading down his forehead. He couldn't help but think to himself " What? the Gate of the underworld is opening," as he watched the figure grow larger and larger. Its dark chi seemed to consume the entire cave, casting an ominous shadow over everyone.
Arthur and Shin, caught in the moment, reluctantly released their grip on each other. Their eyes were fixed on the figure that was about to emerge from the gate, unable to look away. Rime and Mia stood by, fear and worry etched on their faces as they watched in silence.
