The moon begins to cover the sun. It is an event that only occurs twice every year, a lunar eclipse.
People's eyes, covered by eclipse glasses begin looking up, straining their necks to see an occurrence that they will probably only see a few times due to the lunar eclipse happening in different regions.
Children begin screaming in delight and fright as the moon fully covers the sun. BOOM! People begin covering their eyes, screeching in agony. After a few seconds, they are finally able to see again.
Later that day, when people check on the news, it says that this strange and painful phenomenon has happened to everyone around the globe, even those that were inside. This incident becomes immortalized as the Catharsis, the start of a new age.
The next day, a minor portion of the population begins manifesting strange abilities such as being able to fly or teleport. People begin calling those who have manifested supers. A later global consensus reveals that around 39% of the global population has gained powers.
As it is apparent in society when something entirely new appears, people will mistrust and fear it.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Non-powered people start panicking and shunning the supers and some take advantage of the chaos and begin spreading propaganda on the internet.
The number of deaths each day begins to skyrocket as people begin to lash out at supers and vice versa.
Groups of anti-powered people start forming and criminal supers begin creating syndicates and cartels.
The governments across the globe become unable to suppress the fighting and soon, entire cities start being burned to the ground as people begin fighting out in the open, mindlessly destroying everything. Amongst the violence, supers are kidnapped and experimented on in labs around the world
In the following months, regular people and supers alike start a campaign, Freedom for Supers, the indiscriminate murdering of supers to stop.
At first, this campaign is not popular but soon, people start getting tired of anarchy and the campaign picks up pace. In several weeks, the destruction and murders begin to drop.
This leads to the end of the dark times and people start rebuilding. The tensions between the two groups lessen as both sides help each other out.
Eventually, both groups begin trusting each other and a semblance of normal life returns.
After this incident, the governments of the world decide to band together and begin to crack down on hostile groups.
Unfortunately, conventional weaponry proves ineffective against rogue supers and groups so governments decide to use supers against supers; forming government-sanctioned super teams, commonly referred to as superhero teams.
These teams prove very effective in tracking down and destroying rogue super groups so governments decide to establish resident superhero teams in most of their cities.
Among these superhero teams, the most famous and powerful of them is the Archons, whose leader is Domination.
